A wonderful interview Toby! I learned even more about you and your musical career. Wow, when you mentioned Milli Vanilli, my mouth hit the floor! LOL I haven't heard that name in ages. I hope you don't mine me asking, but when you mentioned you wrote 8 songs with Angelina, were they all of your ideas, or did Angelina have any input as well? Did you use any of her songs that she has written? I'm just so happy and pumped that you and Angelina will have more music coming in the near future. Best wishes to you!

The lawyers can work out the details, but at least the songs will be heard. You and Angelina each have your own publishing companies. At least you will be releasing Bad Valentine soon. Wow!, there is so much to unpack here, the interview, the video's....... So Toby Gad has been working with Angelina for two years and they had 8 songs that we may not have heard yet, perhaps "Bad Valentine" but we will only know when they are all released. Come on RR what is the hold up? I assume that is uncle Mike with Angelina driving the speed boat but not sure.

Thanks, James, for posting this whole interview. I first heard parts of it thanks to Chris. It's hard to imagine that RR would not promote any of those 8 songs Toby wrote with Angelina on her EP. Bad Valentine was so epic, I wonder what the other 7 songs sound like? Maybe they all belong on their own album? Of course, Angelina's performance was off the charts on that song! More please!!!

I listened to the whole show in bits and pieces to find the part with Toby. It's a four hour long broadcast with all sorts of topics including UK and US politics, the interview with Toby is 14 minutes long - so I don't think the host bothered to solve the puzzle (although it is solvable with Toby's hints and a bit of math).
The interview itself is very interesting, but we already know most of it from the Palladium and from the interview at the Ivors awards (but nice to hear "Liebe Sonne wärme meine Hände" in original 😉).
The part with the mysterious 16-year-old singer is new though - in her TikToks / IG stories Angelina looks like a enthusiastic carefree teenager, but she can obviously also keep her mouth shut when it comes to business 👍
When she announces news like release dates she says “i can finally …..” I don’t know if it’s Republic, Michael or both that ask her to hold off on making announcements.
I’m sure she is about to burst sometimes when she wants to say something but can’t.
I’d love to know whose decision it was to not incorporate Toby’s 8 songs onto “Old Enough”..fascinating..Toby it’s wonderful to see you working with Angelina..you’re a musical match made in heaven imo..good luck to both of you..Thank you once again James 🙏

Hearing Toby’s comments about Angelina is so hart warming. I am still an admirer of Louisa Johnson as well. Why Republic pulled the plug on Toby’s songs with AJ is thought provoking. I can see how Bad Valentine could go against Angelina’s innocent image, but heh, we all grow up and life happens. Let the music play!
We don’t really know what went into the selection of the songs for the EP and who made the decisions.
EPs are short and her last one had a very particular style and adding a couple of different songs upsets the theme. Plus if those eight sound like an entire other album it may be best for them to flush it out into a full album

Angelina Jordan..the best out of all of them......music history in the making.
I can empathize with putting so much effort into a creative production and then nothing comes out of it :-(
But like Toby said - a thousand songs and only a few of them are super hits.
I remember Angelina saying in her recent interview with Good Morning Norway - the music business is tough, there are always ups and downs. Seems like Toby isn't the only one pissed off.

Toby made a great decision to work with Angelina to make another attempt with songs that didn’t work before. Maybe it wasn’t so much the songs that weren’t right, but the artists weren’t right for the songs. I am confident that if a song is good, Angelina is the one that can make it magnificent.
We don’t know the full story about the 8 songs that Angelina and Toby worked on. All we can do is speculate. Maybe there were songs she worked on with other producers that are also yet to be released.
We assumed that Angelina was releasing a full album last year of 12 or more songs. In March of last year she announced on her Patreon that her album was complete and was just waiting on the label to wrap things up. Not sure what “wrap things up” meant.
Instead of an album however, a 6 song EP was released. Whose decision was it to release an EP only? Was an album considered too ambitions for now? Was it to be an EP all along?
Obviously for an EP some completed songs had to be shelved, for now at least. Who decided on the songs? In a live chat or post Angelina had said that she selected the songs for the EP. Did she decide not to use the Toby collab songs for now?
A few months after the release of Old Enough she talked about her album coming out very soon. Was this to include the unreleased songs with Toby and maybe other already completed songs? The album is yet to be released.
Maybe Our Time was completed before the EP and was used for the SoFi commercial instead.
Angelina recently said that new music is coming soon. We know that Bad Valentine is being released. Will the other songs with Toby be released? Will there finally be an album?
So many questions. Always a mystery with Angelina.
Toby mentioned an album(s) of unreleased songs with other artists. One thing that concerns me is if Toby would re-recorded some of the songs he did with Angelina with different artists. That’s kind of how it came to be that Beyoncé recorded If I Were a Boy.
