    STORYLINE:
A rainbow of colors greets students at The Covenant School in Nashville, recently renovated after a fatal school shooting in 2023.
The small Christian elementary school returned students to its classrooms earlier this spring, where paper cranes in all colors of the rainbow hang from the ceiling and cozy couches and chairs dot the hallways.
"As we began thinking through moving back into the space, we had a lot of input on design, on structure, on the intentionality of how to make this a a safe, comfortable, inviting, engaging space for kids," said Head of School Trudy Waters.
Waters said the rainbow became a theme during the renovations of the school because parents and students kept spotting rainbows in the sky whenever they gathered together after the shooting.
"There was also a rainbow that appeared a few weeks later when we had a meeting at another church in town, with the Metro Police Department," said Waters. "And every time we would meet as a group, it felt like the rainbow would show up."
