I was caught off-guard by Farigiraf's appearance, but after the surprise wore off... it's kinda cute! It looks like it's wearing a Halloween costume, or something, and that's adorable. I might actually make this thing part of my team.

Yeah I think it looks pretty interesting I'm actually kind of glad it kept the normal/psychic type because I think it is a pretty good typing pretty much the same as pure psychic but trading a resistance for an immunity to something it is weak to and the only typing I could see the normal typing turn into are dark and ghost if you stretch a bit maybe fighting somehow but aside from fighting the other two don't do much for it I say

I lost it when Mikey said “A room!!, Or a day care!!!” Now that we were close to discover how “mysteriously” eggs appear, we can now get eggs in the outside without knowing “how” they do it.

Farigiraf is cute cool evolution for Girafrig, but it represents so much more. They are bringing back normal new evolutions outside of regional forms, that’s amazing.
I feel like finding eggs during picnics is a nod to the anime, where Ash and friends occasionally found abandoned pokemon eggs while "resting".
i just hope that they are random pokemon rather then a pokemon you have with you.

Tera Blast basically being a more mechanically balanced version of Hidden Power is a great addition imo. I love HP but didn't really like how you couldn't tell what type it was without experimenting. Also Farigiraf is amazing and I love its face.
Plus Tera Blast is more fair to physical attackers since wether the move is physical or special depends on the highest attacking stat
@@CaptainObliviousV Wonder why they didn't just make two attacks, terra blast and terra impact, like how we have hyper beam and giga impact. I wonder if it also takes into account mid battle stat changes as well, so if you're opponent uses a pokemon with intimidate and lowers your attack low enough that you're special attack is higher, it will use the special.
@@MDoorpsy: I could also wonder if it takes the opponent into account. Like for example, some Pokémon have nearly equivalent attacking stats and would benefit more form an attack that was physical/special based on which of the opponent's defenses was weaker.
@@CaptainObliviousV actually Tera Blast goes for the Pokemon's higher attacking Stat. Like let's say for Lucario, it's Physical stat would be taken into account and for let's say, Reuniclus it's special stat would be taken into account.

Something interesting to note: When the trainer is eating a sandwich at 15:14 you can see a Johtonian Wooper, most likely meaning it can be obtained in the game. There was a scenario like this in base SwSh where you could get a Kantonian Meowth and Unovan Yamask from NPC trades. These are important because the originals and their Galarian forms have different evolutions. Make of that what you will for Paldean Wooper.
Uuhhh… check the video before the picnic begins. The same trainer has paldean wooper. Unless this was a mistake, maybe they are adding a feature where they can switch?

I don’t think it’s meant to be a little hint or a feature where they can switch. They’re just two different teams as the one before didn’t have greadent either. But it’s probably safe to say that if a certain Pokémon with many regional forms is in, said other forms are probably in too

One more nice detail is that Drowsy is in the game- shown during the Terra battle- which probably means that Frostbite is in the game.
John is actually a former competitive battler tho, so wouldn’t that give john the advantage
I love that the ghost terra design is inspired by the ghost from the red/blue days of Pokemon. Also extremely happy girafarig gets in evolution, also love the details of it's pokedex that it defends it self the way real giraffes do in real life. 😊👍
The quality of life changes look incredible. And the new animations for familiar moves look nice.
Of note (see 0:24 with Medicham, see Fidough in the Gym battle and Wigglytuff in the Raid battle for a second example) they finally figured out how to make the "disappearing melee" attack look less jank by ending the animation with the Pokemon reappearing with its falling animation (the falling, I assume, comes from the "send out Pokemon" animation).
So far, the single-use TM's are the only thing I have to complain about. Other than that, everything else has redeemed the series.

PM7 was saying in his reaction that the overworld Mons not moving was super weird and I'm REALLY hoping that they just did that to focus on what your Mon was doing and not getting swarmed.
I also really hope we can craft clothes with the dropped items as well as the TM's.
I also hope that they do like.. well.. the recent games (for most part) have done, like Lets Go, Sw/Sh, PLA, and BDSP Underground.. like it would be a step back to have them just.. staring at you...

In all the other trailers it shows them moving around. I assume it was manipulation of gameplay to show off to the audience, which is not uncommon. Some tailoring and careful editing to show off the point of the gameplay trailer rather than show it off as a whole

The narrator saying: "While you were seeing these four trainer´s journey, did you spotted a glimmer of something that could become your personal treasure" is a hint about the fact that there´s like 5 new pokemon hidden in plain sight in the trailer.

I’m not a fan of the Tera hats in general but I LOVE that the ghost one is a call back to the gen 1 ghost sprite in lavender town.

Same here - The crystal aspect is pretty cool, but I much prefer the Dynamax or Mega forms over the goofy hats. The ghost one is definitely the coolest hat though, and I'd be surprised if there don't end up being trading cards with pictures of Swarovski terastalized Pokemon
Can't agree, I think it's just enough goofy to where it's obviously stupid looking but it has more effort put into it than dynamax so you can't hate but love it
For some reason, the windmill and Sunflora are really laggy in this trailer, as opposed to the Japanese trailer, which looks like it’s running at 60fps. Also, the Pokémon leaked from the mini map aren’t present in that trailer either

I'm actually hyped to use the picnicking feature because it's more interactive than in SW/SH so now we can finally eat with our team like Ash does several times over in the anime. I can remember being a kid watching the one movie with Shaymin and being jealous about eating lunch with your Pokémon. Now we CAN! Like 14 years of waiting, FINALLY!

i love how there is no in-between screen anymore when entering battles. You see the pokemon and the moves pop up. There is no black screen and then the battle screen. Nothing changes.
Btw, the legendary actually functions as a seventh pokemon. When the trainer sent out the pokemon for the picknick, he threw 7 pokeballs into the air
I noticed that the menu now has a "change nickname" button, and, can I just say, FINALLY, it took them like 30 years.

Speaking of raids, I think it's sad how the trailer kept killing Sableye in that Chansey-raid. Farigiraf and Wigglytuff are normal types and unaffected by ghost, but Sableye isn't exactly weak against it either. It gets neutral damage.
Very likely Milktank would be in, since there's quite a bit of Gen 2 Pokemon so-

Mikey. Farigiraf has a hard g sound because it is literally Girafarig, but invert the name around.
Besides a g next to an i doesn't always make a "j" sound. Like begin, bogie, giver, reneging, Yogi. Heck, I pronounced its name with a hard g sound before they gave the official pronunciation.
But in “giraffe” specifically the g does make the “j” sound. Also since the two gs in girafarig make two different sounds the inversion can reasonably be interpreted either way.

9:52 If I had to guess why Farigiraf's name is prononced like that, it might be because the letter g in Spanish is sometimes pronounced as in the video. The Spanish word for "cat" starts with a g (gato) and it is pronounced like that, as well as "toy" (juguete) whose g is also pronounced that way. And since Paldea is based on Spain, I suppose they wanted to make some of the names sound more Spanish-like rather than the traditional English ones.
Funny enough, the word "girafa" in which the Pokémon's name is based has a different pronunciation for its g and it's not like the one you propose nor what the narrator said.

That's still incorrect because the g only is soft before e and i. Gato has an A and juguete is a way that people can have a hard G with the E sound. There are probably exceptions like every language
You probably do fight the titan pokemon multiple times. They haven’t been showing the team star squad leader battles since there’s something different about how they work. The titan pokemon are probably the same way.

6:45 Just noticed, it didn't appear that the TMs were sent to your bag for use. They might be removing the TM/HM section from our backpack and making it so we can only learn TMs from this machine, kinda like a Move Relearner. Might be a good change to help free up space in the backpack for other things, could also free up memory as well. But it also takes away the infinite PP cheese.

I completely missed the part where it said "The list of TMs you can make at the TM Machine has been updated" since the Technical Machine Machine wasn't introduced yet. I guess this adds further evidence to my theory. This could be really cool, and might even give GameFreak some more memory to work with to readd things like Mega's or Z's.

There was one more hidden new Pokemon in the trailer, during the Team Star battle. In the background behind the Growlithe, what looked to me like the pre-evolution of Armarouge/Ceruledge.
During the scene where the trainer is taking a picture in the icy area, there's a hidden new Pokemon behind the ui on the left side.

Something interesting that I thought you might wanna check out Mikey, When you approach the town (at about 7:17 in the video) on the minimap, you can see mini sprites for 3 new pokemon, as well as a Rookidee. One looks like a Brown mushroom, one looks like a Paldean Minchino(?), and one looks like a green bird. Something seems up with them, but I don't know what they could be...

One thing I noticed that medley didn’t mention is that you don’t actually pick up any tms you can only pick up the recipe for one.

Farigirar is probably the latest evolved form for a non-regional variant of an earlier generation species since Sylveon (not sure if i could count Hisuian evolutions that evolves from a non-Hisuian pokemon tho)
also I feel like Koraidon and Miraidon would be the first instance of a Legendary Pokemon evolving from a "non-Legendary" pokemon (Cyclizar might be a regular species but they could evolve into Koraidon/Miraidon through some item equivalent of Legendary Pokemon)
Wouldn't really think of normal/psychic as bad it's a better defensive type than offensive but with that typing your gaining a immunity to ghost one of psychics weaknesses at the cost of making fighting a neutral damage type against you. basically it's just better than a pure psychic.
Only issue is that psychic is primarily a special attacking type, and normal a physical one, and it isn't clear if it will have good physical psychic type moves to go with the typing, or vice versa, which would mean either making it a mixed attacker, or foregoing one of your stabs. Course, gaining immunity to ghost seems especially powerful in this gen, since ghost will probably be a very powerful terra type.
@@MDoorpsy But considering Farigiraf's abilities, it seems that it's defensive mon. Can be a non-legendary replacement for Lugia and Cresselia as a Psychic tank. I just hope Farigiraf's base stats are viable.

Girafarig finally got something (a cross generation evolution no less)! Girafarig/Farigiraf will definitely be on my team! Best Johto Pokémon, best non-starter, non-legendary, and non-special Pokémon ever!
What they didn't mention about the TM crafting is, it's single use. Which means it's either like TRs or just they reverted back like in BDSP.
it makes sense since you are crafting them now BUT it's still annoying, wonder how many will be angry about that
At least you can have as many as you want. Also, I’d like to think that if you make at least one TM, you can use it as much as you would like.
Edit: Also, I believe the reason why the TMs in BDSP broke when used was because the game was developed by ILCA, who might have not been aware of the benefit of TMs being infinite in usage in previous Pokémon games.
it's funny how people are saying that the tms are one use in this game when we know they aren't otherwise the swift tm would have said the certain amount of swifts they got

I feel like Farigiraf should have Trick Room Sweeper stats and I'm looking forward to using Girafarig as a Nasty Plot sweeper w/ Eviolite in lower tiers (switch in on Sleep Powder/Leech Seed, sub up, then Nasty Plot to sweep with Hyper Voice + Psyshock)

They don't normally wait this long to show starter evolutions, right? It feels kinda late for us to only know the first stage.
Edit: For some reason I thought showing final starter evolutions was a bigger thing than it is, this is the first game where I really kept an eye out for trailers and updates and I didn't realize that they wait awhile to show starter evolutions
I can't remember but I'm pretty sure gen 8 was at least 3 months before release they shown the 2nd stage evos
For Gen 6 and 7, they showed the first starter evos around late September/early October, and the final evos about a week before the games released. But for SwSh and Legends, they didn't officially reveal the starter evos until about a month AFTER the games were released. The only reason people were able to see the evolutions to decide which starter they wanted was because they were leaked.
@@tiredspacedragon9239 Yeah, revealing the final starter evos isn't as established a thing as people seem to think. And I kinda like not knowing. Adds to the sense of discovery that's supposed to be a big part of the series.
Gen 8's starter evos weren't shown until after the games came out.

Wonder what it means by rare terra type. If you catch a pokemon normally, will its terra type always be one of its base types, and you have to find special ones to get different types, or are some types just rarer for certain types of pokemon?

I am glad that Girafarig got an evolution, I am using it, also Farigiraf is also a Palindrome to stick with the theme, Also if you look closely you will see what looks to be the pre evolution of Ararouge and Ceruledge
I think tms found in the field are normal and reuseable, while the tm machine is basically a substitute for a tr, teaching one Pokemon the move you pick from it, and not giving you an item or such.

You may dislike farigirafs name pronunciation but I love it. I thought it was clever using giraf again but opposite this time.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I shouted “YES!” when I saw the picnic option. The Pokémon camp was my favorite part of Sword and Shield, it gave the Pokémon a lot more personality, seeing them play and interact with each other. Every opportunity I got, I’d check in with them and see them all gradually accept on another and get closer.
I hope we get to see the Pokémon in our team play with each other again.
Hey if you do a Team Sky play through of this game, it’d be cool if you get a Pokémon that isn’t normally flying with Terra Type Flying (maybe get a Flying Terra Type Mightyena?)
Maybe select something with wings in its design that cannot fly, so you complete them. Like how sudowoodo becomes “truedowoodo“ :P
Maybe a dunsparce or scizor?
I know this is small, and I really hope I’m not misinterpreting the trailer, but it seems to be that you can customize your character however you want regardless of gender! I usually pick the male trainer, but it’s always bugged me how the female trainers have more customizing options. Nice to see Pokémon being inclusive

Even tho it keeps its Norm/Psy type I think it’s also important to keep in mind the terra forming adds a third unique typing so we’d just need to look around for a good terra forming Girafarig before evolving it.
Tera doesn’t add a third type, it turns you into mono type
GIVE IT A ICE TERA TYPE AND CALL THE THING FRIDGE.
