Well done for getting an interview with Gordon. He's a really nice guy, interesting and engaged. His book is still referenced all over the place despite being over a decade old because it has such good primary research.

I got stuck here for nearly three weeks while waiting to renew my passport in 2008. Met hundreds of people from all over the world. Made many friends. Great memories, fantastic place in a great city! ☺

Great video. I stayed there for a few nights 3 years ago. I had no idea of the history till now, thank you.

Stayed here for 4 days without knowing anything. I just searched whats the cheapest accommodation at TST. Now, after watching and knowing the history of the building, it somewhat made me happy that Ive experienced living on it.

Loved the video. Thank you. I used to visit CM in the 80s when there were many Indian ‘messes’ still operating. In those days you might be served a curry in a small table in a room that was a bedroom later in the night. We went back more recently and while it retained some of its unique features, all the messes we found had turned in to more traditional Indian restaurants. Still love the place and hope they don’t ever sweep it away like they did the walled city.

Indian tenants in Chungking are very friendly and approachable. Thanks to the Indian guy, who help us find our room. (feb 18-20,2018). Thanks for this nice video.

I grew up in this area and Kowloon Park is just across the road. That was in the sixties 😅

So you’re telling me there’s still a smaller, heavily watered down version of the iconic Kowloon Walled City in Hongkong? That’s awesome! I need to visit this before they declare this awkward masterpiece as to „ugly“ for the elite society as well and demolish it.

In Mandarin, it is pronounced as Chung-Ching, rather than Chung-king
