I know this is a channel about watches but it is also about family. When the collector said "you need children to complete your life..." that sums it up for me. Enjoying watches with your family, now that is pretty special.
Also about coffee and there Cuban heritage and those busty sisters lol.. only human guys cheeky but respectfull😊. Aussie fan here To me amazing story how hesitated the business wish did more life stories how why watches and share history of his native country and bring watches in the story Gran kids Great gran kids look see say my granfather great gran fathe and mumma so on
My wife and I had the privilege of visiting CRM earlier this week. The CRM family was just incredible, they all stopped what they were doing to take the time to speak to my wife and I. I think we spoke for 2 hours telling stories and laughing. They are 100% genuine and humble! They really are one happy family unit. I really enjoyed my conversation with Charlie and Dan! And let’s not forget the ladies of CRM just wonderful. Betty we love you! We’re going to be sending some home made Italian sauce for you to try! I highly recommend doing business with them not only will you get great deal and beautiful timepieces but you will be treated like family and that makes all the difference in the world. My wife knows I’m a watch nut and as we were walking back to the car she turns to me and said when you buy your next watch it has to come from CRM! I couldn’t agree more !!!!
Thank you my friend. It was such a pleasure to spend time with you and your wife this week. It was an honor for us and a lot of fun. We can't wait to receive that homemade sauce when we it arrives (sorry Betty, things get lost in the mail all the time). We're also looking forward to that Italian food when you come back to Deerfield. The only sad part about all this is that today we realized that the footage we recorded of your visit was totally ruined because the new wireless Rode mics we purchased had horrible interference and messed up the audio. Consequently, the footage was ruined and we won't be able to use it in Tuesday's episode. 😭😭😭 We definitely have to film our next encounter. We're looking forward to it and are extremely grateful for your support! 🙏
I was given as a gift a 1971 5512. Box and papers. It’s kinda a long story, but as soon as I received the watch, I sent it off to a gentleman in Arizona who services vintage watches with NOS, age appropriate parts. The patina on the dial is so creamy and beautiful, I just stare at it for hours. I am very blessed to have received this as a gift.
Cheers to the owner on this top tier Sword Sub.. So nice to see one filmed in RED Digital cinema.. once again. The coolest collection and to share on TH-cam is extra generous
Wow, just wow. That gentleman is an encyclopedia of Rolex knowledge, and just fantastic of him to share with you (and us!) his amazing collection. huge thanks, was a really great experience!
That was a very nice vintage collection ! Love the fact that he doesn't sell them- a true collector, and a very knowledgeable one. Charlie, you really did look like kid seeing all the gifts under the tree at Christmas LOL!
Oh so nice to see those watches from my parents era. Its just so heart warming to see someone so proud of their collection and willing to share it with other watch lovers. I am surprised he didn't arrive with a safe in tow with the value he was carrying around :) Charlie was definitely in his own chocolate factory looking at those vintage watches. Much love from London UK x
The Rolex 5517 is a killer (1200 pcs. made for the English Royal Marine), jesus and then he just took it off his wrist as if it were an ordinary watch. Wild collection, the best I've seen on YT to date. It's not "pling" or new watches he has, it's old cool Rolex vintage watches that others just don't have - I just love it, and then he also just appreciates the value they have in their age, he doesn't flash with gold watches or bad taste, like that. A big thanks for showing you collection to us. I will never own a Rolex, so to get my dream watch, which is 5517, I had to buy a Homage 5517 from Steinhart which I wear every day with joy.
How can someone top this collection. Amazing and seems like a really nice guy. Would love to see more like this. Carlos I like how you love to learn about vintage and how you are becoming an expert at it. I can see how passionate you are.
Ok so my theory on the '1200 made, 200ish left' claim... Id imagine that number comes from the small percentage of them being serviced at some point. The fact that almost 80% wernt serviced was a sign that the clientele they picked wasnt the right market for luxury watches. More than likely a watch like that was a bonus and worth many months salary and was treasured and buried in a safe or vault to never be seen again... id imagine a small percentage would be lost/stolen/broken/parted out but i cant imagine more than 10%....
I have been collecting for over 30 yrs and my first Rolex I bought was at a gun shown and a dealer had taken a Rolex Sub in on trade for a gun and I asked about it because it looked strange with a T on the dial and different hands. He told me it was probably a custom dial and that's all he knew. This was before internet, so not much info available. I asked how much and he said $1300 and that was all the money I had. I bought it and took it to a watch show and showed it to a guy that knew a lot about watches and he got excited and let me know it was a 5512 military issue!! It got the attention of a foreign buyer and he offered me $25,000! which was a lot of money for me back then and I needed money for my new addiction, so I sold :( It started my journey, but man I wish I still had that watch and this video just made me cry! LOL. By the way, my next sub was a 1968 5513 and I sold it too for market at the time for $1,400 which is another big regret now! Thanks for the video :)
@@Merxnary Yea, your video reminded me of that watch, but I still love watches and have some great memories of handling watches which are now worth big bucks. I use to trade Rolex back then for $500-1500 all day at shows; not anymore! LOL. OH!, about where all the other 5512 military watches are...Many which the military still had in stock got put into barrels, due to the Radium dials, and buried under concrete at an undisclosed area; some say they were buried in Australia.
This video is amazing! I love the production quality, the content and how’s it all about the family. It's clear that a lot of hard work and dedication went into creating this video, and it definitely paid off. I can't wait to see more content like this in the future. Keep up the great work🎉
"This original Rolex Explorer II is popularly known as the 'Steve McQueen' despite the actor not actually wearing the watch (he often wore a Submariner). Instead, the nickname comes from an article in an Italian journal in the mid-1970s that was a complete fabrication"
The Reference 1655 Rolex Explorer II was nicknamed the “Steve McQueen” Rolex due to a Rolex advertising campaign from the 1970s. Steve McQueen never wore the reference 1655 Rolex Explorer II in real life. He primarily wore a Submariner.
Hi guys. A large portion of your fan base really digs vintage rolex, it would be intresting to see more vintage content from you guys at CRM. Thanks to the whole CRM gang.

It's not about watches. I have a more modest 1960s sports vintage pieces collection too (no MilSub, no 6542...), but the passion is about something different, but that matters a lot. To me it's to connect with my childhood years, my memories, those loved ones from that era. When you've come to understand that, then there's illumination, your collection making full sense and allowing you to focus totally on pieces that are of exceptional importance to you to bring those memories, to literally touch your own distant past.
As far as I remember the connect between Steve and the explorer is he had the strap from 1 on a sub he was photographed somewhere and it showed the clasp and strap and it grew from their
So neat to see the history of old watches. It's always about Rolex though. Can you have the same conversations, and energy put into another brand of watch? Honest question.
Havana, chocolate, cafe au lait. Whatever as long as you like the dial, there's many tropical and chocolate dials but few that are uniform and pretty 😍
I have to assume that most of those military examples were taken with the soldiers on their final mission, which we all must take one day..... That would explain the shrinking number available....
And this video is epic this is a very rare look at a collector who is being very open about his money and that alone is epic but then the show his entire collection or at least the cream of the crop did anybody keep tabs on how much this is worth
Amazing collection! My biggest question, how can a 14 year old in 1981 sell his first custom house he built? Unless his father or family owned a construction company and built, remodeled, built custom homes! When your 14, your still in JR. High school! His story has flaws!

How can you put the watches on the table!!!!
He wears them. He doesn't sell them. 🤷
Badass
That 5512 he called nothing was the best looking watch of all.
How you get a tropical dial on an unworn, new oldstock watch?
It can happen. There are multiple reasons that don't necessarily mean the watch was worn.
@CRM Jewelers UV light causes that browning, I've never heard of a "safe queen", unworn watch going tropical. Somethings fishy here. You don't think someone put a tropical dial in a new old stock watch to up the price?
I doubt it, but anything is possible 🤷
It could be because of the lume. It's radioactive so it's possible it effects the paint without having to be exposed to light. Also, as the gentleman on the video said, the dials were outsourced and so the variations in quality and paint is different. Add to that the temperature and humidity in the safety deposit box.
@Mahtab S I've seen radium Lume make circles around the hour plots but never seen a full tropical dial like that
How often would he get watches serviced and would many owners insure watches?
Would they keep bank or in a super duper safe
It's not a Submariner but a gmt 6542 with radioactive bezel
Yes, that was a typo in the description.
