The wooden cornices over the windows in the living room, we had them growing up. My mother had the cornices then venetian blinds then sheer curtains and in the colder months added a heavier drape. And we had solid wood paneled doors with glass doorknobs. Crown molding and chair rails. Stained glass windows! It was only a 2 bedroom cottage/bungalow built in 1929, but those elements made a simple home seem grand. It broke my heart to sell that house after my parents passed because you don't know if the new people will love those old touches.

@@filledwithjoy6323 it certainly is! I did a hallway about a year ago and it cost a pretty penny, but I did pick a beautiful and pricey. quality paper. It's an investment so I go higher with the cost.
We’re just finishing up building a house … trying to incorporate the sturdiness and charm (nooks, built ins, etc) of an older house. When I said I want to put murals inside the closets my husband thought I was nuts 😂. Now I have your comment to back me up!
I wonder about that - our old house was a rowhome built in 1935 specifically to house factory workers. The neighborhood has never been wealthy. And yet the original details include glass doorknobs, textured glass in interior doors, beautiful trim, and wallpapered closets (all four of them in the entire house 😂). I loved that there was thoughtful craftsmanship and pride of ownership invested in a working class neighborhood.
Oh wawo Lisa, you really have been collecting for this house!! Its hard to describe but your furniture look so much better here. Love it and can not wait to see another updated tour.

I highly recommend Lume, I had difficulty finding unscented deodorant and was so grateful when Lume was created, they have an awesome line up of products now. I absolutely love your new home. Has similar features of our 1930s home in North Carolina. When we bought it nearly 30 years ago, we had a similar green carpet in it, the wood trim was all painted a similar green. There is nothing like an old home when the builders put quality all the way through, even the wood floors in the closets! You have already done so much to it, looks so comfortable! Congratulations!
You chose the most lovely house, complete with high ceiling and spacious rooms that flow into each other. I'm in love with your new house. It's perfect for you and your family. Merry Christmas.
Oh wow! I am just in awe. The love in that home is so strong, and you will add to its story. 🥰 It is amazing! The green was there already when you moved in? Green is my favorite color, the color of healing. What a wonderful place for you to land for a season. 🥰
Oh what a blessing it is to have a former owner label all tile, paint, etc for the next owner. In my home I did find 2 cans of paint I could use as a color reference for new paint. But one room, I've never found any left over and have not been able to find a match on any manufacturer's palette. Yes I know I could just paint the whole room with new paint but I'm trying so hard not to. For several reasons, it's not my first choice. But I may have to conceded soon! Love your new home. Looking forward to seeing how you make it your own. The BIG rooms look perfect for you big family, I KNOW, whatever you choose, it will be beautiful and functional. ❣
What a charming place. I always love the wood floors and books & crannies of older homes. You’ve done an incredible job already of showcasing it, you do have a talent (and vision!)
My husband and I just bought our first house. It's a little 1960's ranch and, unfortunately, the previous owner stripped a lot of the original fixtures out of it, but the bathroom still has that fantastic pink tile. Our realtor looked a little confused when I was so thrilled to see it, because she was about to suggest that we could renovate it and remove the original pink porcelain tub. Many of the floor tiles are cracked, so we will have to replace those, but I'm just so happy that I can save most of the original bathroom. An added bonus to this house is the laundry chutes, why we ever stopped building homes with laundry chutes, I'll never know, but I can't live without them now.

@ sounds gorgeous!! It was probably a manager or a foreman’s home ❤️
Beautiful home! I think just even changing out the cabinet knobs the kitchen would make a big difference.
Oh wawo Lisa, you really have been collecting for this house!! Its hard to describe but your furniture look so much better here. Love it and can not wait to see another updated tour.
I enjoyed every bit of this video! What a beautiful home 🏡 Hope you & your family make lots of wonderful memories ❤ can't wait to see all your upcoming videos in your new place 😊

I have to say, I was really sad about the move but this house is absolutely gorgeous and so full of character! I should have trusted your instincts. Now I am looking forward to your journey 🩷 Thanks for the tour!
This home is gorgeous!!! The hardwood floors were the perfect addition 😍
So glad you and this amazing home found each other! My husband and I restored a 1911 home.
It's beautiful! I wish I had a home with a library! I always say, some day. I'll be 75 next month, I don't think my someday is going to happen! Love your "new" temporary home!
We are really enjoying having it!
This is out of this world beautiful, Lisa! I can hardly wait for your actual new home!! ❤
thank you!
The floors are stunning, beautiful home ❤
I highly recommend Lume, I had difficulty finding unscented deodorant and was so grateful when Lume was created, they have an awesome line up of products now. I absolutely love your new home. Has similar features of our 1930s home in North Carolina. When we bought it nearly 30 years ago, we had a similar green carpet in it, the wood trim was all painted a similar green. There is nothing like an old home when the builders put quality all the way through, even the wood floors in the closets! You have already done so much to it, looks so comfortable! Congratulations!
thank you!!
Thank you Lisa for the tour! It's a beautiful home!😊
You chose the most lovely house, complete with high ceiling and spacious rooms that flow into each other. I'm in love with your new house. It's perfect for you and your family. Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much!
What a beautiful blessing and love the way that sunlight ✨️ shines on in. Looking forward to seeing more.
You should be able to get a custom color made from a photo of the room
Sometimes the colour can be matched if you take along a chip of the existing paint.
The house is great and I know it will be charming when you have put your touches on it
It’s beautiful and I love how your furniture from your last home felt right at home! 🤍
What a charming place. I always love the wood floors and books & crannies of older homes. You’ve done an incredible job already of showcasing it, you do have a talent (and vision!)
What a beautiful new home!! Even though temporary, how exciting!
Lisa, this is lovely. I can see why you bought it. I hope your family will really enjoy it while you are there. Thanks for the tour!
I am so happy for you! I love the vintage finds!
