Now I know why so many pre facelift mk4s have such dim tail lights most owners probably not aware the inner segment has two lamps and most probably have one lamp out, I always thought it was a dodgy earth on the cluster.
Could’ve upgraded the indicator to LED while you’re there but you need a resistor like I did on mine. To be honest LEDs are a lot brighter than stock halogen bulbs! Halogen bulbs are not very good as they produce so much power and heat and particularly so dull and yellow! I’ve pretty much upgraded mine to LED and took it for an MOT last year and it passed no bother with the tester! I hate when people keep saying “you must take them all out again or it will instantly fail the MOT” 🙄well I didn’t take no notice of what people saying because it passed the MOT without any problems! The reason why I prefer white is they look alot better in the dark!✌️
@@ChazzCoombes it’s worth having the LED indicator bulbs in! People will see you’re indicating! Lol One of the main reason why I changed almost to LED all around the car because I live in the countryside and I drive a lot in my own time at night and I want to be seen more visible in pitch black on the road especially when it’s raining almost all the time!😊
So do I, I have spoke to Andy and he sent something to snap lock into the cable but I haven't a clue what one so just left it. Have you found a way around this?
Can I upgrade my MK4 2008 hatchback to led without any errors in the car? Btw after I changed the rear signal lights to led it starts to hyper flashing so I returned them and went back to my old halogen bulbs, I really want to upgrade the hole car to LED :(
Just gone to replace my reverse bulbs on my new mondeo i got just the other day (2011 titanium X saloon) by following this but it doesn't have a grey bulb holder. It is black and has different wiring inside? Can't get to the reverse bulb as there is about an inch between the holder and the body of the bootlid?
Changing indicators is difficult the Ford canbus is very fussy. It powered down my indicators completely. I'm using them in a 2008 ford focus and there working fine. They draw 1.6a and never hyper flash. But I can't even get away with even a single one in the mondeo 2011
Thisbis the first part of the Led upgrade from Andy Brooks. I decided to split the videos down into 2 smaller ones. Enjoy
What bulbs do they all use?
Great video Chazz the difference between the old bulbs and the new LEDs are far better
Wait till you see the headlight omg what a differance.
@@ChazzCoombes looking forward to seeing them are you changing the bulbs to led or replacing the headlights with led type
@@billywhizz98 all bulbs are upgrade to the new Led ones, jist waiting on Andy to send me the indicators as he forgot to send them out lol

Those bulbs will last 10 mins you should get the led complete unit for number plates they are super bright and last years
These Leds have last 3 years and still going strong. No issue as yet 🙂
Hi Chazz, when you turn the lights on do you get a message on the dash saying that there's a stop lamp bulb fault? Regards Dave
Hiya Dave, yes i do but then it goes off. I know the third brake light has a bulb out so there next to replace.
@@ChazzCoombes thanks for that info Chazz👍

Indicators will have to canbus bulbs or they will flash fast and warning message on dash 👍
Regular red tail&stop under indicators also will show error on canbus
Can those rear lights be swapped for the led version from the later Mondeos?
Not sure but be worth looking into i guess.
I think the outer part can. I believe the bootlid itself is a slightly different shape between the mk4/mk4.5.
Hi Chazz! How many watts are those bulbs in origin?Reverse, side and fog?Need help.
Hi, where I can buy those LED lights?

I put all led indicators to my 2008. Each must also have a 10R resistor. Now works great and look even better.
Mine has leds from factory
try autobeam some time mate you will not use any other bulbs again and always years warranty with them
Cool, cheers for the info. With these i get life time, if they ever go wrong i just get them replaced. But so far not had to replace any yet
It's not your car it's the spider's car lol nice work
