This is indeed a neat pedal. I found out that the Jazz/Dance Setting on 00 sounds the most like an upright! It works wonders with my Squier 5-string P-bass.
Super cool! Is it just the way the recording is coming through, or does the output level vary that GREATLY? It seems to go from very high output to almost inaudible from one sound to the next.
Hi. Great review. Hows the performance on a big stage, like Wacken Metal Battle? Will i need any other unit along with the vox to enhance the sound for large scale output?
In theory, no. Check with your sound operator person at the gig, but really the Stomplab gives you everything you need to play direct into the PA system. It really is that good :)
Not really. The drives have volume control and there are clever ways you can increase or decrease the intensity of most effects, but there is no specific level control for each effect in the chain /GF
Hmm I think the octave effect only does down, but you could use the pitch shifter instead, it definitely goes an octave up and you can set the blend amount - so hopefully it'd end up sounding decent.
I just looked it up. From musicradar.com: "The Pedal module offers compression, various wah effects, octaver, acoustic simulation, U-Vibe, tone and ring modulation options, as well as an exciter. The amp/ drive module offers amp emulation or different drive types, including fuzz, distortion and overdrive options. There are 10 amps and eight drives on offer, plus a selection of 12 cabinets."
I’d say I’m somewhat more into the clean trebly bass (quite the oxymoron, I know) and am very much into tool, less claypool and Evan brewer. Would you say this is a good starting pedal or I’m better off getting individual pedals? I’m only gonna be using a fender amp and pj squier that has no effects and I’m personally more interested in just being a good bassist rather than being a gear junky, so what would you say is the best option.
A bit, but I suggest you take a look at my video of the DOD fuzz pedal (search Geafacts DOD bass) ...that pedal is better than all the effects here put together. Thanks for watching Gearfacts!
Hi, I have a question. Obviously the pedal is aimed for a bass, but I already have the Same model, for guitar. Does that mean there is no way it could be used with a bass?
First of all: Excellent question! Yes you can use it with a bass, and I'd encourage you to try it. This kind of open-mindedness leads to all kinds of interesting sounds. Let me know how it goes! 90% of the messages I receive start with "So how do you..." or "I'm having trouble with ..." or "Can this machine do..." So thank you for giving me something interesting to respond to :) Gearfacts
Gearfacts haha no problem! Ive been messing around with it and overall it still does its job. Although it lacks a bit with some effects (maybe it has somwthing to do with the low frequencies), most of them were pretty spot on. For someone like me who plays bass/guitar occasionally, I'll recommend to keep it simple and use the pedal for both. I'm not quite sure how it would be the other way around (bass pedal for guitar), but I guess it won't work that well (also the bass version doesnt have a wide range of effects if compared with the other)
I've made lots of good discoveries when using Bass pedals on 6-string guitars. In fact, my favourite multi effects units of all for 6-string guitar (and I've reviewed dozens) is the Boss ME-8B, a bass pedal. I should do another TH-cam demo of it, this one is pretty old: th-cam.com/video/un36x0nGP4M/w-d-xo.html
Hi I bought one but I still don't get how to Re order the factory effects. For example if for a song I want to use effect number 07 in the verse and number 53 in the chorus, how do I arrange them to be together?
Sebastian PEÑA You save the two effects you want to use beside each other in your user patches. The last option on the first knob. so lets say you want something from 7 for the verse, go ahead and save that to U0. Then save whatever you want for the chorus, 53 in your case, to U1. They are then beside each other.. with another 18 patches left for you to put others or make your own sounds. I hope this helps
The term "Bank" usually refers to a group of three or four patches which are individual effect setups but it's a bit different on this pedal. Patches (complete effect setups) are arranged in several series of ten, and you can select up or down through the ten in sequence (you can't hop from 3 to 7, for example). So you could have Low-EQ as your first set of ten then mids as your second set and so on. Gearfacts:)
Great man! How many bands does the eq have? Three or more? I'm thinking in buying the boss Eq for bass, but I want lots of custom eq ready to use and switch. That's why maybe I need something digital like this.
Thank You For the video. I have a Passive Squier P Bass, i don't use any other gadget to help my sound. My band Friends recomend me to improve my sound by using a pre amp. Is this pedal will help with that?
Yes, it can be used as a pre-amp. The pros would say it's not sufficient and would probably recommend a dedicated pre-amp pedal ...but no audience is going to know the difference, I promise you!
Hi, friend. what do you think will happen? Notice that they sent it to me new from the USA but when I am using it from one moment to the next, the volume is lowered abruptly, it seems that the LED screen goes crazy and that happens.

It'll function perfectly well but it might not give the same classic tones as the Stomplab 2 (without the b at the end). It's worth trying out though, if you follow your own tastes you can still get lots of good tones. Gearfacts
Now do a follow up video about this pedals notorious cut-out problem and how it'll mysteriously mute itself for a fraction of a second at irregular intervals.
