It was shown during the middle ages female monarchs were more effective rulers as they focused on the wellbeing of the people and upheld their own status by promoting the status of the common people. While not all female monarchs were well liked but one can wonder why most of them who had enemies the enemies were rich white men who themselves were not well liked either

We only just scratched the surface with Thatcher. As a queer woman I can say the affect that women had in the queer community is still being felt today. Not only did she perpetuate all the scaremongering during the AIDS crisis and also tried to prevent the distribution of life saving medication that could help those with HIV live longer but she also implemented Section 28 which prevented homosexuality from being taught in schools and like banned books with even the tiniest reference to anything queer from being available in schools and public libraries. Section 28 was only repealed in 2003 but the affects of it are still felt across the UK now with LGBT topics only becoming part of the curriculum in 2019 and now in the US with the Don't Say Gay Bill and other similar bills going through history is repeating. And don't go thinking that I am holding her to a worse standard to the men cus Reagan at the time was doing very similar during the AIDS crisis and that was awful.
Great video! And you only have to go into the comments to see that simply mentioning women in power is enough to send some people (men, probably) into paroxysms of rage. And people ask why we still need women's day!
I'm happy that the comments section is looking very tolerant and respectful of the idea that gender =/ competency. And also I'm glad that the mention of women in politics isn't getting backlash here, because usually in most other spaces it would be handwaved off in the best of situations. I don't think being a woman will lead to better leadership or happier countries. I do like the idea that happier countries might be more likely to elect female leaders/are more ingrained to gender equality though. Maybe that means happier countries are the most egalitarian countries and we should adopt more egalitarian philosophy.

Thatcher was a divisive figure. If the UK does break up, many of its issues could be attributed to: She experimenting a tax on Scotland, which screwed any chance for the Scottish conservatists from winning in the Scottish elections in the future Essentially destroying the economy of Wales due to de-industrialisation, with the country being split between Labour and Plaid Cymuru Keeping the south of England rich and the north poor, fueling resentment of the northerners to the south Having a bad relationship with the Irish nationalists and breaking promises with the unionists, contributing to the former's rise

Unknown public fact: Golda Meir worked as a social secretary to an upper middle class Palestinian family for a number of years... She was liked and Loved by the family and joined them on family picnics, holiday trips, birthday parties...etc... When Palestine was taken over by the zionists and became Israel, she came into her position of power... the family that Loved her and accepted her for so many years, were ordered to leave their home that they had for generations and decades... Intruction orders came from her, and the Palestinian family (just like thousands of others) were given 24hours to pack only personal items in 1 suitcase per person to leave... The Palestinian homes inclusive of furniture, decorative items, clothes, pets...etc were then taken over by new Israeli settlers, who happily moved in. She did well for her people and her new nation, but was not heroic or a respectable human being otherwise. Such mean and cold thieving behaviour is not something to be proud of... not for her or all those new Israelis who moved into and stole other peoples homes.
I love all of your videos but this was particularly great. I definitely feel more women need to be in power to challenge the male dominated status quo. A fresh and new perspective is needed.
Unfortunately, this list is for non Royalty leaders only so the Queen of Hawaii would not have counted. But you can still see her video on this channel.

Our former prime minister Smt Indira Gandhi was pretty good. With some bold moves like nationalisation of banks , 1971 war , green revolution, operation bule star she contributed to our nation very much. But her some decisions for her own political ambitions like imposing emergency should be criticised
Absolutely, I agree that as we continue to evolve spiritually over the coming years and decades, women will lead most societies and communities on Earth. This is the era of the Divine Feminine. Male and Female, Yin and Yang working together as One. Women and men make up the consciousness of God. They will be equally in charge, in love and respect. The Planet is getting kinder and more loving. Women will play a hugely prominent role in the coming near future.
There is a strange overlap between women having a degree in chemistry and leading a European country: Margaret Thatcher, Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo, Angela Merkel...
Indira was a brute and she deserved what she got. And if anything, she should not be remembered as a great leader who did anything for the citizens of her country. Upon her sanction, Operation Blue Star happened. Yes there was a militant group as you would call it. But it is less that, and more of the fact that bystanders were killed mercilessly, alongside the near destruction of a religious shrine. The media censorship that followed suppressed facts of the reality of what was occurring in Punjab. For gods sake she practically held the place of a dictator. The riots that followed her assassination brought death and hate to the Sikh Religon as a whole. My own grandfather (a truck driver who was at that time not in Punjab), admitted to me that he couldn’t go anywhere with his beard and turban. So he rid them, to keep his life for the sake of his family. It surprises me how many people were completely blind to the atrocities, but the moment someone they supported came into question they jumped up and killed/tortured their own Sikh neighbors, colleagues, and friends. Her one move brought about excessive harm to a certain group of her citizens. Declaring emergency was a weak move, her attempts at creating what many assume could only be a socialist state, and her mishandling of groups that either disagreed with her or revealed something she didn’t like. And there is no one more to blame than the overly glorified Indira Gandhi.
What about President Cory Aquino? Sheis the first d3mocratically elected leader in the southeast asia during her time, she should be part of this video I believe though.
I'm a little disappointed that Corazon Aquino isn't on this list because she has done so much for us to oust a dictator and stop martial law with a powerful revolution in 1986, the same year she became the first female Filipino president. Nevertheless, these women are also interesting to learn about in time for Women's Month 💕
For those saying she forgot someone, she is only covering the first 10 in this video.
Ikr she can’t put everyone😭
Maybe she’ll do a part 2 video, listing the next 10. I’d watch it!
People are blind af.
For those who are questioning of why she didn’t put in leader etc. It is almost always because your mentioned leaders became leaders after 1980.

She experimenting a tax on Scotland, which screwed any chance for the Scottish conservatists from winning in the Scottish elections in the future
Essentially destroying the economy of Wales due to de-industrialisation, with the country being split between Labour and Plaid Cymuru
Keeping the south of England rich and the north poor, fueling resentment of the northerners to the south
Having a bad relationship with the Irish nationalists and breaking promises with the unionists, contributing to the former's rise
Lindsay: I find it deeply vexing, that my own country, and one of the world's oldest surviving democracies, has continuesly failed to elect a woman to the top seat"
Me, a czech: Oh I feel you-
(obviously not the oldest democracy bit but still-)
Proud that Sāmoa now has its first female prime minister. ❤️
I am from Sri Lanka❤
Unknown public fact:
Golda Meir worked as a social secretary to an upper middle class Palestinian family for a number of years...

New Zealand was the first country to give women the vote
If Susan B Anthony was alive to see this, knowing women can do politics.
Susan wasnt that great
You missed Sri Lanka in the Happiness index to have a female elected leader!
I loved this video! I want more like this!
Make a video about parents of presidents pls
Hawaii definitely had a princess ruling it right before America took possession of it.
She was a queen, and she was amazing!
Unfortunately, this list is for non Royalty leaders only so the Queen of Hawaii would not have counted. But you can still see her video on this channel.
It was a Queen who didn't deserve to be illegally annexed by greedy Nations.
Im sure this episode could have a part/2
I feel the same way about male teachers
love this channel
I doubt that Isabel Perón will be highly regarded in Argentina
Don’t forget when you have a great leader and it’s a man but people are happy more then likely their is a strong woman that leads with her husband. Together everyone is stronger.
Why was the NZ flag shown in the flags for the first female leaders? There were no NZ leaders in the list
It was about the first woman in political history to take office, New Zealand didn’t have its first female PM , Jenny Shipley until 1997.
2015 in Saudi Arabia for the female vote. Just wow!
The bipartisan system in the USA amd the heavy cost of campaigning might have something to do with that
Great video thank you for including Indra Gandhi love from Mumbai India 🇮🇳 even tho you didn’t pronounce Jawal lal Nauru correctly 😂 as my mother always says ”Hindi is no rocket science you read what you write”
As someone who grew up in a cou try that has had 2 female leaders, no we aren't happier.
You forgot about the first female president of Brazil
The video is in timeline order not who was the first female leader of each country. Former President Rousseff was 40 years off from this list.
U clearly cant read lol
I found your video very informative, though I hope one day, we can discard all gender based polls and go by merit, it sound better but I'm just one person
A shame a country like Sweden only had 1 female primeminister so far, and only for like 6 months...
More than female presidents here in the US where male politicians openly use the Bible and ministration against us and
The women of the Supreme Court would be a good series
Our former prime minister Smt Indira Gandhi was pretty good. With some bold moves like nationalisation of banks , 1971 war , green revolution, operation bule star she contributed to our nation very much. But her some decisions for her own political ambitions like imposing emergency should be criticised
Omg where is benazir bhutto???? I'm not watching till u don't include her
You cleary cant read .this is the frist 10 she wasn't one of the first 10 women elected
Please make a leizu and neithotep from egypt and China. 🙏🙏🙏
Hold on tight, Filipino fans! We're just at the tip of the iceberg!
We don't Deserved Cory.

I cannot stress enough how much of a HUGE f-up Golda Meir was to Israel in 1973.
You forgot the first elected female Presedent Vigdís Finnbogadóttir. Iceland 🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸
And reelected 2 more times
She was presedent from 1980-1996
She came after 1980 so wouldn’t have counted.
You go, girls! 💞
She may be in part 2 as she became leader almost half a decade after than number 10 on the video.

You cleary cant read
I think we will see the first female UN Secretary-General soon
