Here is a short review of the gig. The sound. Manowar is Manowar and will always be Manowar: the overall mix is dominated by bass guitar and vocals. Most of the time MAB buried in the mix, with Joey's bass occupying the sonic space of both. At least he was brought forth during the lead breaks. Vocals sat very well in the mix. I would not say that the show was extremely loud: some of the club shows that I have attended were louder. All in all the sound was clean. Performance. Manowar are a hard-working live band and they always give 100% to the fans. On the other hand you have to keep in mind that they are not young anymore and cannot perform quite as energetic as in the old days. MAB was quite an unexpected addition to the line-up. Technically speaking he is the most technical guitar player the band had since David Shankle. Does it work in the context of the band ? It does and it doesn't. Let me elaborate. There certainly is chemistry between him and the band members, this is undeniable. Especially between him and DeMaio. On the other hand it doesn't look like Michael has rehearsed enough with the rest of the band. This in particular is obvious when it comes to lead breaks. You might think that for a guitar player of such a caliber Manowar's material would not present any difference. Well that's what most of us though. In reality everything is considerably more complex. Seems like he has not (yet ?) learned the original solos and in most of the old songs he just shreds through them, occasionally inserting some of the more memorable phrases from the original versions to maintain at least some semblance to the original materials. It certainly is entertaining to watch guitar acrobatics, yet I would prefer to hear solos the way they were written. Eric Adams still has it. He does simplify some of the vocal lines, but it is performed in a very tasteful manner. You should not expect him to run around the stage yet in these times he has a very commanding, almost monolithic presence for the lack of better words. The drummer is really tight and holds down the rhythm very well. Not much more to say, since in Manowar drumming has never been about technical prowess (save for Triumph of Steel album), the focus has always been on complementing the string section. The show is definitely worth the money. In their own words "You won't get robbed". The set list could have been improved, the same goes goes for guitar playing, but these factors do not affect the overall impression in a negative way.

Согласен с Вами, звук был хороший, точнее подходящий для этой группы! МАВ-у на самом деле, по ощущениям, иногда не хватало gain-у, но, как я написал в коротком обзоре, в общем и целом, впечатления от концерта это не портило. Спасибо! Очень надеюсь до Украины они тоже доедут, когда придёт час :)

i like shredding guitar but manowar need ross's soulfull playing.
I do agree, that his style was far more suitable, yet again, his was involved in writing the classics, so it is pretty damn hard to outdo him in it.

I saw Manowar in Gothenburg, Sweden. When they played Holy War, The chorus hit you like you're been hit by a train
I've seen a more lively crowd during a burial.
Fanzone was not particularly active, I should say, which is a paradox.
They're making good progress with their teething problems with MAB. "The Power" was pretty fucking flawless

There were some in the front row of the fan zone, but otherwise the crowd was kinda reserved up until they started playing Warriors of the World.
Valhalla sounds too slow
I would not expect them to blast through their old material at full speed, but it is a observation you made.
