But Forever did bring us Seals "Kiss from a Rose" so it wasn't all bad. It's fun but turn you're brain off lol
I will ALWAYS unashamedly love this movie. I don't mind defending enjoying something even if other people hate it. All art is subjective and even things that are terribly made can bring someone joy!
There is the scene when the Riddler did hang out with Two-Face and one of the girls in the white lingerie is Drew Barrymore. Jim Carrey says the line "does anyone feel like a fried egg?" while testing a gadget the Riddler invented so he can pick up Batman's brain waves and trying to discover Batman's real identity.
Keaton was my favorite batman. I remember going to the theater to see batman forever..it was cool on the big screen... Gotham looked gigantic and scary and intimidating with the large statues and scale of the buildings...I think val was a good Bruce Wayne, he is unique as an actor
I'd agree. I think Val Kilmer is a very underrated actor on the whole, and had he had a darker Batman project to work with, say a Burton or even Nolan-esque style, then I think he would have suited that a lot more and we would have seen him in the role a lot more over the years.
@@mws755 No, he's not. Michael Keaton & Adam West are THE definitive respective grimdark & campy Batman portrayals. Likewise, Kevin Conroy IS Batman in animated media. The end. Val Kilmer & George Clooney sit at the loser's table.
It isn't entirely fair to blame Schumacher, as it was Warner Bros, not Schumacher who insisted on the more campy, light-hearted Batman. Schumacher wrote a script called Batman Triumphant, which was going to be the final part of his trilogy and was much darker. Also Forever saw that the previous Billy-Dee Williams, Harvey Dent had some awful accident and turned into Tommy Lee Jones! Hideous. Also led to some critics complain that Batman Forever was 'Whiteout Batman'. Of course you also have Jim Carey playing... well Jim Carey as always.
It is a pity that Burton did not make the third film about Batman. This movie is cartoonish and in lighter tone than Burton's movies, but I think that Val Kilmer was nice as Batman. Also, I like the songs by U2 and Seal.
I remember when that movie came out in theaters. My bro Chris was so pissed a the movie that when the batmobile drives up the wall he punched me in the shoulder and walked out the theater angrily.
I just watched it today before I saw this top ten. This version is more like the 60's version. I loved it. Val Kilmer was fantastic😄P.S rest in peace Frank Gorshon.
Huh, in that new Harley Quinn animated series Riddler is bald save for a question mark tattooed on his head, I wonder if Jim Carey's idea here inspired that
I enjoy watching your videos then watching the movie after to see it from a different perspective. Planned to watch this movie tonight so Im stoked. Thank you!!!
Forever is still just as good as it was when it came out. Even if it felt campy, there are deep psychological aspects to the movie. Also, the story isn't just a Batman movie, but also a Bruce Wayne movie. Not only that, but there's references to past Batman/Superman characters, along with a nod to a real life person.
19:22 I randomly met Seal while standing in line at the Burbank Frys Electronics store back in the late 90s. He was super cool and even helped me choose which USB connector I should buy! I asked him about 'Kiss from a Rose' and his albums (which my wife and I listened to all the time when we were dating in college) Great days back in LA, I miss that store.
I would say that it should be a sequel and the reason I had is the same as when I was a kid. Alfred. He is the same actor in all four movies before Nolan and bale. They changed every character but him.
A rebellious teenage 30 year old LOL 😂... i’m not sure if you’re being literal because the actor is old and they’re trying to portray him as a teenager or if he is just a 30-year-old that acts like a teenager. I think it’s more the latter due to the writing
Wait! Batman Forever lover here. I will defend Joel until the day I die. Batman Forever’s deleted scenes were all Joel’s idea, not Burton. Burton just approved of Joel making Batman Forever then left. Had Joel been allowed to do Batman Forever the way he wanted it, think we would have had the best Batman movie of that era. For those of you curious, Batman Forever can be found in its full glory in the novelisation written by Peter David or the audiobook which can be found on TH-cam. Pity Joel never got to see his darker cut released by at least the audiobook on TH-cam is as close to the darker cut being released as we’re going to get
Agreed, Batman Forever was a good movie. It wasn’t the best Batman movie, but was still good. The first movie in 1989 was the best Batman movie, but I Did Not care for Batman Returns. That wasn’t even a Batman movie, it was a Tim Burton movie… it was literally a repeat of Edward Scissorhands with the Penguin. It wasn’t about Batman. It was a horror movie and the soundtrack didn’t help either. Batman Forever was a nice refreshing change from the dark gothic persona that Batman Returns was. But Batman and Robin was an ABOMINATION and the worst Batman movie ever
the Bat-Card. I never leave home without it. Batman & Robin should have been called Batman Ruined. Adam West pulled off campy like a master. Clooney, not so much.
I like Val Kilmer, even more as 2008 Mustang GT500KR. Minty, have you seen "Batman vs The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"? I thought it was an absolute blast!
I was 14 when this movie came out and after growing up with the Burton movies, I hated Batman Forever. The whole thing was just too much, the neon lights, the over acting, the music, Jim Carreys flap of leg fat that shakes when he kicks his leg out...all of it.
Yeah that's a really low bar though mate 😂 while this is clearly a huge step down from the Burton films, I think it's honestly a perfectly serviceable Batman film. Thats about the best I can say about it
I remember at the time it was released, there was a statement that Michael Keaton refused to do the 3rd one because he didn't want to be typecast. True or not, I have no idea. And I've heard for years that Kilmer was hard to work with, but watched an interview with Michael Biehn, who starred opposite him in Tombstone, and he said it wasn't true for him. He did acknowledge that Kilmer (and himself) tended toward perfectionism, so maybe that's one of the problems. He described their rehearsal for the final gunfight between Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo as taking a whole day, and both of them wanted it that way. It is definitely an awesome scene.
5:06 I imagine that Burton was basically a producer in name only for Batman Forever. That sometimes happens as a sort of consolation prize for filmmakers who get turned down for directing a film (i.e. Joe Dante with The Phantom, and Jack Conrad with The Howling).
I notice that when you're having a bad day, Minty almost always will somehow know to post a video of amazing trivia to take your mind off the bullshit. How do you do it, Minty? Lol
I heard Kevin Smith saying on Fatman Beyond that he spoke to someone who works at Warner Bros and they said that there is a much longer and far darker version of Batman Forever in their vault. He said it has the original beginning at Arkham Asylum and the giant bat vision/dream is in it aswell the other deleted scenes and other scenes not seen anywhere else. I've heard of a fan cut called- Batman Forever: The Red Book Edition. It apparently has all the deleted scenes added in and is supposed to be very good. On Twitter there has been a hashtag movement when Joel Schumacher passed for WB to release the longer version in a mark of respect for him and the fans but not much has came of it. #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut
Read Peter Capstick's book on it, which is mostly a reprint of the original Patterson tale. The book is MORE terrifying than the movie was! The movie was pretty well done as well.
I'm sure I read somewhere that H.R. Giger was really pissed off with this film because when he handed in his concepts for the batmobile they told him they were "going in a different direction." But if you look at the final product it is clearly Giger influenced and he contested that he could have gave them something similar, if not better if they had gave him direction.

“Holy rusted metal Batman” can only be homage to the 60’s tv show
That's exactly what it was
That was the best line in the movie. I remember busting out laughing in the theater when Robin said that.
He goes huh, holes you know, it’s holy.
no fucking shit. Really, it took you 25 years to figure this out? Can you guess last week's lotter numbers for me too????
No crap Sherlock
I love that Minty is pointing out that random dude... “Batman!!... Aaaah!” Hilarious! I do remember that scene & thought... awkward 😂🤣👀
One of my childhood fave movies! And HUGE congrats for 350K !
Val Killer portrayed Jim Morrison in the movie The Doors.
“Jim Morrison! Aaaaah!”
@@oaf-77 😂
The direcrectors cut of this movie could be kinda cool much darker tone
Dude had it stayed as dark as returns, and kept keaton it would probably be the best 90s Batman film
Holy rusted metal Batman! Thanks Minty
I’ve hated the “Batman ahhhh” guy for years
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
There is the scene when the Riddler did hang out with Two-Face and one of the girls in the white lingerie is Drew Barrymore. Jim Carrey says the line "does anyone feel like a fried egg?" while testing a gadget the Riddler invented so he can pick up Batman's brain waves and trying to discover Batman's real identity.
Sugar was indeed Drew Barrymore, and Spice was Debi Mazar. Debi's main gig now is cooking Italian food with her husband on TV.
I don’t think Val gets enough credit for his portrayal but of course he’s no comparison to Keaton!
I think he's a better Bruce Wayne than Keaton, but not as good as Batman.
He's better than Keaton
Moonraker was my favorite Bond film for a long time
It is a pity that Burton did not make the third film about Batman. This movie is cartoonish and in lighter tone than Burton's movies, but I think that Val Kilmer was nice as Batman. Also, I like the songs by U2 and Seal.
This awesome movie was cartoonish but I liked the cheesy music. What a bitch.
Yeah it was good for the time nostalgic for sure
Smooth Criminal Trickster. You have earned my respect as well as my like!
Nicely done, sir.
I remember when that movie came out in theaters. My bro Chris was so pissed a the movie that when the batmobile drives up the wall he punched me in the shoulder and walked out the theater angrily.
Is Chris in prison now?
@@unnamedchannel1237 no, even worse. He is a born again christian.
This made me laugh boy.

I just watched it today before I saw this top ten. This version is more like the 60's version. I loved it. Val Kilmer was fantastic😄P.S rest in peace Frank Gorshon.
I like Carrey but Gorshin will always be the true Riddler to me
What about Michael Gough.
Always liked this one. It’s fun as hell.
I like it too IT thing val Kilmer Is the best Batman
@@leonsstudio1150 hahaha troll man I love you
@@sjf1981 but reálly i thing val Kilmer is the best Batman
Saw this on the big screen 6 times
The continuity of Harvey Dent going from Billie Dee Williams to Tommy Lee Jones is astounding!
I think it shows that Batman Forever is not in Tim Burtons Batman universe.
Huh, in that new Harley Quinn animated series Riddler is bald save for a question mark tattooed on his head, I wonder if Jim Carey's idea here inspired that
Th at was supposedly Robin William's idea.
I enjoy watching your videos then watching the movie after to see it from a different perspective. Planned to watch this movie tonight so Im stoked. Thank you!!!
"I'm Batman"-Batman
MINTY COMEDIC ARTS!! AAAHHHHHHH!!! Kiss by a Rose has to be one of my favourite songs.
And Pat Hingle as Gordon
I never realized it was thought of as anything but a sequel. As you said, we had Alfred & commissioner Gordon.
John Astin (Gomez Addams) also played Riddler in the 1960's series.
Frank Gorshin was the best!
A rebellious teenage 30 year old LOL 😂... i’m not sure if you’re being literal because the actor is old and they’re trying to portray him as a teenager or if he is just a 30-year-old that acts like a teenager. I think it’s more the latter due to the writing
Frank Gorshin, the greatest RIDDLER EVER!!
RIP Frank
"I see without seeing. To me, darkness is as clear as daylight. What am I?"
A mole.
Bat
You're as blind as a bat!
Pllllllleeeeease you're as blind as a bat !
Penguin.
Best line of the film
'It's boiling acid' 😂😂😂
I actually loved this movie and jim carrey was an inspired choice as Riddler.
Deleted scenes from the movie were used in the U2 video for Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me.
“BATMAN AHHHHG!”
This should have been "& Robin" because it introduces Robin, his crime fighting partner, and the next should've been Forever as it expands the Batfam
They messed the titles up on these
Idk I think either or works for each one
@@dustinallday4383 when i was younger i always thought they mis-matched the titles
I remember it being Batman and Robin 😂 mandela effect 🤔
the Bat-Card. I never leave home without it.
Batman & Robin should have been called Batman Ruined.
Adam West pulled off campy like a master. Clooney, not so much.
"A Kiss From A Rose" WAS in the movie... in the closing crdits.
That extra sounds like the oldest winner from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
That's brutal. But yes
The whole thing was just too much, the neon lights, the over acting, the music, Jim Carreys flap of leg fat that shakes when he kicks his leg out...all of it.
wtf????
Ugh. That mental image of Jim Carrey's leg fat triggered my fight or flight response.
@@dvt1393 ...
Lol, glad it wasn’t just me.
9:23 - HOLY SHIT!!!... I never knew that!... I friggin' love your videos bc I *ALWAYS* learn _AT LEAST_ one thing in each video you put out
This is still okay compared to Batman and Robin
That’s like comparing puke to the runs.
Please do one on the underworld movies.
The ghosts in the darkness was an amazing movie. Can you do a 10 things on that?
That was a good movie!
That would be great! I loved that movie.
Read Peter Capstick's book on it, which is mostly a reprint of the original Patterson tale. The book is MORE terrifying than the movie was! The movie was pretty well done as well.
any fans of Bob Gymlan?
@@Viking_Luchador Bob Gymlan is great!
Moonraker is a great movie ;-)
I'm sure I read somewhere that H.R. Giger was really pissed off with this film because when he handed in his concepts for the batmobile they told him they were "going in a different direction." But if you look at the final product it is clearly Giger influenced and he contested that he could have gave them something similar, if not better if they had gave him direction.
Love the videos Minty! I’d love to see videos on The Dirt Bike Kid, Gleaming the Cube, Thrashin, and Youngblood if you needed some suggestions! Although I’m sure you already have a laundry list of movies to work on already
The guy yelling Batman is like when people is Japan yell when they see Godzilla. That's probably what Schumacher was going for lol.
Yeah I still love these movies I'm Batman fanatic lol
Very underrated
I think this was a really fun movie. Very rewatchable, and has a great cast.
Forever is not shoddy work, but a real gem with the Gothic mythos weaved in
Get off drugs buddy
While it's not exactly Tombstone or Goodfellas, it's-- fortunately-- not Howard the Duck. : )
The soundtrack is a classic! I still listen to my promo vinyl copy all the time.
This movie is underrated. It is not as good as the original Tim Burton Batman movie, but it is still a fun and enjoyable movie.
It's garbage.

batman forever is a guilty pleasure of mine...and i’ve still got the action figures.
That one scene almost killed the movie lol along with the cheesy sound effects, and “oh no it’s boiling acid “, Tommy Lee jones over acting 😂
I think Tommy Lee Jones was trying to be more elaborate and wacky than Jim Carrey.
Wayne Knight was supposed to play a security guard
