It may not have been a completed animation, but it was still awesome and I loved it! I'm so glad we got Sheriff Hayseed AT ALL, even if I wish it could go on forever. But I'd much rather you take the time to take care of yourself, do what you feel you need to do, and not hurt yourself, physically or emotionally, working on things that don't bring you fulfilment. I hope you come back to this some day, but even if you don't, we'll always have this gem.
Speaking from experience, the shame that comes with having to step down as a director for an animated project is agonizing and debilitating and it makes you feel so...small, and I am so, so deeply sorry that you had to make that choice-that being said, also speaking from experience, I think you did make the right one. Your health is important, and I'm sure you already know that (and I hope you rest up as well as you can!), but I also want to touch on that desire to express the best part of yourself in its totality-fuck, man. I mean, when you put something out there, there's no taking it back, right? So it *needs* to be perfect. I think this is perfect. It's unfinished, and it's a labor of love all the same. You put your all into what you do, and you put your all into this every step of the way, and I, and many others, see you. It's human. It's you! My personal favorite thing about art is the potential to see the humans who made it *through* it, and I think it's safe to say that we see you-and your team just as well-and it's a lovely sight. You've gotten so, so far, man, and that's no easy feat, that's something most of us have been unable to accomplish, and your hard work, and your attention to detail, it all got you this far...and it'll always, always be something to admire, to look up to, no matter what. You're strong. You're here! And whatever comes next, I'm rooting for you!
Hey man seriously props for putting your health first. I think it’s something that all us animators have to realise eventually that we can’t perfect everything otherwise it may LITERALLY affect us physically and mentally. Your team did such a phenomenal job at all the pipelines and you guys should feel seriously proud. If I ever see it finished I’ll be excited to watch, otherwise I’m excited for what comes next to the piemations channel. ❤

This, even being just a storyboard, is some of the best animation I have seen on TH-cam. The expressions are so vibrant and dynamic, they’re spot on in selling the story. Thank you so much for giving us this. And I’m so sad the merch store fell through, because I NEED stickers of every single one of Todd’s expressions from his character sheet. Keep taking care of yourself and get well soon.
Of all the things I feel after watching this, what stands out to me is just the respect for the craft I now have. Seeing behind the curtain, how animators think and work, by looking at this story board is so insightful.
Honestly, with how charming the characters were, how fun the animation, colours, pretty much everything about the first episode was, I can't fathom what "perfect" would look like in your head. Even so, I'm glad to have been able to watch it and the bloopers, that was hilarious also. I hope everything comes together for you.
I imagine that was the problem. The previous episodes had set the bar so high, he probably was trying way too hard to top what was already done, but couldn't find a way to do so.
@@Sapphiregamer8605 I did read the end. I'm just choosing to accept it's gone than hold out hope for something that might never be. If I hold out hope I could grow resentful or upset if it never returns. If I accept it's gone, I'm surprised and ecstatic if it comes back. I also just dislike the notion of saying "I hope you'll do this thing you love but can't do one day" as it feels a bit rude.
I know how perfectionism can eat away at someone. For what it's worth, I love your stuff and haven't thought poorly of anything you've made so far. The technical skill and the writing go hand in hand. I appreciate your and all you do! Feel better, give yourself a mental health break, and tackle what you want to tackle.
Sheriff Hayseed has been one of my favorite things on TH-cam. While of course I'd love more of it, I'm really glad I got to experience what was made. If you do end up making more in the future I'll be here for it. If not, still happy with what we did get.
I loved this series while it lasted. It brought me out of a funk when I was at my most lowest of moods. I hope for only the best in your future endeavors, Mr. Pie.
It’s a shame that things got in the way of this being finished, but this is still FANTASTIC work from you and the team. absolutely hilarious, and it’s interesting to see how some of these visual gags look in the storyboard!
From the perspective of someone outside of the production of the show, Sheriff Hayseed always was a quality animation series. Everything including the backgrounds, animation, score, writing, and voice acting were comparable to other internet animations with higher budgets and bigger staffs. I hope that with time some of the issues that caused the end of this series can be fixed so that the next things you make are even more successful. In particular I hope that your wrist remains functional at least and hopefully recovers. Perfectionism is a harder thing to deal with and part of that will take a lot of time and stress. I hope you handle it well.
This was awesome and lots of fun. I'm sorry to hear about your injury and struggling health, and I hope you manage to recover from it all. I personally think your opinion of it "not being good enough" is unwarranted. This series, even though it's only got two or three entries, is my favorite thing you've ever done, and I will be right there for more if you ever continue it. Heck, I REALLY needed to see this today, because despite the bad news, seeing something like this lifted my lonely spirits immensely. Prioritize your health, but when your health is stable, keep working toward your dreams dude, because I have faith you can achieve them. I'm certain of it, in fact. If it helps, maybe try a new format of some sort? Like, propose it to a studio like Iron Circus or something? I've seen movies that felt like they should be TV Shows, shows that should have been shorts, etc., and as much as I already love this show as it is, I think it could do refreshingly well as a genuine animated comedy about character growth alongside all these existential shows coming out.
Sherrif Hayseed is already fantastic. I can't tell you how many times I have rewatched it. Your stuff is amazing and so are you, and I can wait a few more years for whatever you decide to make. Thank you for the storyboards!
Honestly I'm just as happy to see it like this as I am a fully fleshed out animation. What matters is that the jokes still hit the same and you get to enjoy what you love with less strain to your health.
I'm sad we never got to finish this, but it was a fun time working on it! Here's to the future. Also just so it's clear with everyone, I didn't draw that image of balloon Shawn, I only drew the MS Paint Shawn smile and the rubberhose tshirt design lmao
Honestly, even storyboards like these with fun expressions and a hilarious story are great! :) I appreciate any Hayseed content regardless of size or completeness, just do what you’re able to do and stay healthy!
The comedic timing for this series is incredible, one of the best I’ve seen on a TH-cam Animated series. Even if the series never gets picked back up, I’m so glad that we’ve got as much as we’ve received. You and your teammates have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into it. Stay healthy and keep doing what ya love, my dude. We’ll support you no matter what.
This is by far my favourite series from you, i LOVE IT to bits! As an artist i can understand the perfectionist part, sometimes it takes me months to finish something that should be finished in 4 days, as an artist it sucks that my perfectionist self cannot keep up with the algorythm, and social media content thirst. I want to make things GOOD i want to make them up to the unrealistic standard that i have, i KNOW i can do it, make it better, but i need time, time i cannot afford. Eventually i learned to let go of it, i learned it hurts mentally and emotionally to hold yourself to the perfectionist standard that you hold to yourself, being a perfectionist is GREAT for self improvement and does wonders on the learning curve of mastering a field and you can achieve greatness. But it damages you mentally beyond repair, it's the reason people like Michael Jordan are not fun to be around. I'm glad you're going to take time for yourself and your health, everyone deserves some time to heal. You're my favorite animator, please take care of yourself.
Even though this isn't finished it is so beautiful thank you for all that you have done and I hope some day in the future you will have the budget and the ability to do projects like this one again.
I have to say that we here like the Sheriff Hayseed videos more than all the others on your channel (Suction Cup Man close 2nd). Perfectionism is a bad cycle to get stuck in, but you underestimate yourself, these videos are really really good. Waited patiently for this next Todd Hayseed video ever since the last one and will continue to wait patiently in case you recover your mental health to the point that you return to the series. Good luck Piemations, and thanks for the videos.
I read your note at the end about perfectionism, and I can relate to that! In high school and college, I took art classes. I loved making art. When I looked at everyone else's, they just looked so much better, and I was always jealous. Everyone in my high school class always told me I was a perfectionist, and I kinda knew I was and didn't want to admit it. Over the years, I learned that it's the mistakes that make your work stand out! What I mean is that others won't notice your mistakes, only you do. Embrace the mistakes and let your work shine ❤
All of my rop favorite moments involve the Mayor, she's a hoot! And she's a great character that works so well with the rest of the cast! Hope you're taking care of your health first! Love Hayseed!!
Wasn't particularly crazy about Sheriff Hayseed at first, but this short was absolutely perfect. The pacing of the jokes, the humor, the voice acting, literally everything was perfect. Please get a team together and continue forward! Piemations, YEEEEEEEEAH! :)
MAN THIS EPISODE IS SAD WTH Genuinely hope you get better soon to return to production. Im sad to see things like this and Mike and Zach get cut, they have so much potential and bring a unique kind of fun to the online indie animation space. I hope they get considered for return in the future, but like i said and cant stress enough, I hope you start feeling better soon.
I gotta say, this series truly is beautiful. It's witty and funny, but also really sweet and pure. both characters work so well, and It just leaves such an amazing taste in my mouth. Hell, I even got emotional with that guitar song in the credits (it's amazing). All I wanna say is thanks for giving us this series, and I'm so grateful we got it! Thanks so much!
This was spectacular, and I hope that most have also seen the potential from previous episodes, on top of the greatness in this one. Writing, faces, timing, comedic premise, art style improvements. Mike, if you enjoy making these, this is a winning series. You don't have to trust some random loser on the internet, but you know how anthropomorphic animal addicts are. On top of how dedicated and bat-sheet insane they are.
really enjoyed the video! seeing the animation in its early stages makes it easier to appreciate the story the animator is trying to tell and the voice acting and everything. it reminded me of why I started watching your videos years ago, it's easy to take top quality animations for granted when that's all you see. really sucks about your wrist hope you recover soon, take care of what you love
Hayseed is my favorite thing of what you've made, and I'm glad to get to see another episode in any form. I deeply hope you do return to it some day, and can approach it with a new perspective.
It always amazes me to see the early work of what eventually becomes a finished episode, the amount of work that goes to a silly video uploaded on youtube should not be taken for granted, amazing work from the piemations team on every video
Too bad that the project got cancelled, it was so good that made me having a big interest of the Wild West era I hope you wrist will get better and that the future projects will be even greatest despite the constraints
Mike I doubt you’ll see this but I just wanted to say that thank you for creating sheriff hayseed as a whole because when I was starting high school in 2019 and watched strategically stupid back in September it blew me away and I was even more excited to see the next one releasing in December and loved it, the series had a huge impact in my life because I just started college a few months ago and because of the sheriff hayseed animations that’s what made me become an animation major in college, and yes while I’m sadden that hayseed probably might not make a comeback it was a fun time, Thank you Mike and take care of yourself :)
Even in storyboard form, this episode was very well done and I'm glad you put it out for everyone to see instead of just letting it sit on a hard drive forever. I'll miss this series, and I'm sad that not everything worked out as you hoped. But hey, your health comes first.
it's honestly surreal to hear a creator lose passion in making something fantastic, something i love, because the works consistently failed to meet their own hopes. i don't even know how to process that.
@@1992djg going off of the ending message text, yeah, his wrist issue is the reason he needs to stop, but that text also says the thing i said. in a prior video, he offhandedly mentioned "creative unfulfillment" in this project, and he elaborated on that with text in this video. it really took me by surprise.
@@1992djg He said he had dificulty with the story conceptually, not just with the animation of it. That means yes, it was a passion issue. He was struggling to write the story to the standard he wanted.

it's bitter sweet watching the credits, so much work put into something you can't finish cause of things out of your control. if this is the last one just know this series was fantastic, great style, well animated, got your classic writing style. it was simply a joy to watch.
There's that saying about the quest for perfection getting in the way of 'good'. This was very good imo, I laughed at the jokes and was into the story all the way. But I understand all the other circumstances around it, it is what it is.
This may not have been the finished product, but what I do see here is the love and passion put into these wonderful projects. Keep doing what you can, and get well soon! ❤
I know what it's like to put your heart and soul into something only to feel like it's not good enough or to feel inadequate. From what I've seen so far this is a fantastic series with lovable characters, excellent comedic timing, and great voice acting, and it'll be sad to see it go. Heck even in just an animatic form with voice acting, it's a joy to watch. Sometimes it's best to take a break, reevalute your priorities, and return with a clearer head in the future so that you don't burn out on something you love doing. I hope you feel better soon
Every little bit that I've seen of Sheriff Hayseed has had me smiling from start to finish. All the characters, the voice acting, the writing, the music, the animations, comedic timings -- all have been hitting exactly right for me. It really is sad seeing it go. I will rewatch all of it over and over again for years to come. Saddening to hear that it had been plagueing your mind all the while, and things not going the way you had wanted. I wish you the best of luck and speedy recovery and looking forward to whatever your next undertaking will be. May it bring you joy.
man i'm already missing this... i hope that it can somehow continue in the future despite your unfortunate situation. i hope things will be better for you soon!
Man I love this, the characters and funny story are something I can really get behind! Hope one day, this is finished in the future, but I wish you luck on feeling better and doing new, even better projects!
Am I the only one who can see Taylor being a part of the main cast? She seems like she works well off the two of them and would be an interesting addition to their team, maybe a reluctant start as community service that slowly develops to her actually liking Todd and feeling good about doing good?

Absolutely fell in love with the first sherif Hayseed and seeing this, even in storyboard form, really makes me wanna get back into learning how to animate so that one day i can help work on something like this.
I'm glad you're doing better mike
But if you ever doubt the quality of Sherrif Hayseed just remember
I giggled
Point is I love the series please don't stop making it 😭
Honestly I'm just as happy to see it like this as I am a fully fleshed out animation.
The Rubberhose T-Shirt design was awesome.
@@101DalmatianStreetSucksL-cf3hv Thank you! I wish I bought one for myself before the merch store got shut down haha
1:22 “FUCK!”
Jesus that caught me off guard! 😮
Me too lol
Absolutely love this! Had me smiling at its humor the entire time. Very talented work and writing too!
The fact this is the last episode with the smooth guitar tune makes the ending very melancholic
Very happy you posted this, I wasn’t ever expecting to properly see this, thank you
Honestly, even storyboards like these with fun expressions and a hilarious story are great! :) I appreciate any Hayseed content regardless of size or completeness, just do what you’re able to do and stay healthy!
I feel like some day they should come back once again. Even if it takes a while. They’ll always be welcomed back
the amount of detail in the mayor's face is uncomfortably realistic and absolutely terrifying and i love it
The comedic timing for this series is incredible, one of the best I’ve seen on a TH-cam Animated series. Even if the series never gets picked back up, I’m so glad that we’ve got as much as we’ve received. You and your teammates have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into it. Stay healthy and keep doing what ya love, my dude. We’ll support you no matter what.
Thank you for sharing this amazing series with us.
It's a shame this had to come to an end, but overall, your health is more important, thanks for still sharing something in sorta complete form! ^^
I've really enjoyed Sheriff Hayseed.
Even though I only found it a little while ago, I'd like to t hank you for creating what you have.
Aww
All of my rop favorite moments involve the Mayor, she's a hoot! And she's a great character that works so well with the rest of the cast! Hope you're taking care of your health first! Love Hayseed!!
Wasn't particularly crazy about Sheriff Hayseed at first, but this short was absolutely perfect. The pacing of the jokes, the humor, the voice acting, literally everything was perfect. Please get a team together and continue forward!
Piemations, YEEEEEEEEAH! :)
Him saying fuck feels both in and out of character at the same time
MAN THIS EPISODE IS SAD WTH
Genuinely hope you get better soon to return to production. Im sad to see things like this and Mike and Zach get cut, they have so much potential and bring a unique kind of fun to the online indie animation space. I hope they get considered for return in the future, but like i said and cant stress enough, I hope you start feeling better soon.
Taylor is my favorite Sheriff Hayseed villain so far!
RIP Sheriff Hayseed. You may be gone. but you will never be forgotten.
Hello
Todds smile is the type of smile that makes everyone else feel good
I Agree
really enjoyed the video! seeing the animation in its early stages makes it easier to appreciate the story the animator is trying to tell and the voice acting and everything. it reminded me of why I started watching your videos years ago, it's easy to take top quality animations for granted when that's all you see. really sucks about your wrist hope you recover soon, take care of what you love
Hayseed is my favorite thing of what you've made, and I'm glad to get to see another episode in any form. I deeply hope you do return to it some day, and can approach it with a new perspective.
Even unfinished, this was enjoyable to watch! I hope your health improves, and thanks for all your work
this is awesome, i hope it gets turned into a whole series someday ;w;
It always amazes me to see the early work of what eventually becomes a finished episode, the amount of work that goes to a silly video uploaded on youtube should not be taken for granted, amazing work from the piemations team on every video
Too bad that the project got cancelled, it was so good that made me having a big interest of the Wild West era
I hope you wrist will get better and that the future projects will be even greatest despite the constraints
Mike I doubt you’ll see this but I just wanted to say that thank you for creating sheriff hayseed as a whole because when I was starting high school in 2019 and watched strategically stupid back in September it blew me away and I was even more excited to see the next one releasing in December and loved it, the series had a huge impact in my life because I just started college a few months ago and because of the sheriff hayseed animations that’s what made me become an animation major in college, and yes while I’m sadden that hayseed probably might not make a comeback it was a fun time,
Thank you Mike and take care of yourself :)
He didn’t lose passion he is making a decision to put his physical health above everything
I’m very sad to know this won’t be finished. It was amazing.
Your comedic timing is IMPECCABLE. Hayseed always makes me smile every time I'm watching and I'm sad to see it go. I hope you're doing well and that your healing journey goes well. All the best!!
I hope this becomes an official series
it's bitter sweet watching the credits, so much work put into something you can't finish cause of things out of your control.
if this is the last one just know this series was fantastic, great style, well animated, got your classic writing style. it was simply a joy to watch.
Despite this just being a storyboard I was still laughing my ass off. Also I send my prayers to you Pie pictures. I really like pie.
"Tod, this is stupid," is everything we love about Tod
I know what it's like to put your heart and soul into something only to feel like it's not good enough or to feel inadequate. From what I've seen so far this is a fantastic series with lovable characters, excellent comedic timing, and great voice acting, and it'll be sad to see it go. Heck even in just an animatic form with voice acting, it's a joy to watch. Sometimes it's best to take a break, reevalute your priorities, and return with a clearer head in the future so that you don't burn out on something you love doing. I hope you feel better soon
This is so enjoyable. And the characters are so cute!
1:25 I was honestly not expecting him to say that, I thought you were taking this series to a more family friendly approach
The comedic timing and voice acting are SO good ohh my god
This was one of the funniest animations ive seen in a while! Absolutely fell in love with the first sherif Hayseed and seeing this, even in storyboard form, really makes me wanna get back into learning how to animate so that one day i can help work on something like this. But no matter what. Personal health comes first above all. No matter what happens everyone here will be excitedly waiting for whatever the future may bring! Take care of yourself~
My opinion, of course, I don't know where your head is at, but I really think this video should be up in the main channel.
For real. It might even be called (Unfinished), but it definitely deserves
It’s a shame sheriff hayseed may never see the light of day, but in the end what matters most is personal health and wellbeing. Thanks for still putting this out there for the world to see. It was a hilarious watch, even when unfinished.
I feel like this could genuinely be an awesome series on Netflix if it got picked up. That way by Masons could still make the episodes he wants while not having to overexert himself. Especially with his current wrist troubles.
Oh wow, I wasn't expecting more of my favorite sheriff! Awesome! I hope you are doing well and that things pick up for you soon. Don't let the failures get to you, we all go through them. And as much as I would love more Sheriff Hayseed, do what's best for you. Cheers!
