"Undergraduate" pilot training was the hardest thing I ever experienced. Kind of like "basic training" for a year. The Highest G's I experienced was 9.6. Once one gets through THAT, things get easier. Training in the aircraft one will fly in active service is MUCH more reasonable. The biggest challange is wolfing down all the things one needs to know about the aircraft systems and operational limits.

If I could do it all over again (39 years old) I would have told my teenager self to buckle down and get into the airforce academy to become a pilot. One of those “what could have been” if I applied myself more in my early years…

You never seen a politician show a resume to show experience in the office they're trying to get voted or questions about their commitment to serve the people of America with impartiality, most of them not all have a hidden agenda for their own gain.
Fighter pilots don't have to be independently wealthy, be voted in by the majority of the country after campaigning for months, and be subject to the scrutiny of the public opinion based media. Apples and Bowlin balls jackass
because the president is supposed to be a civilian. the military is not supposed to be ran by someone in the military. that’s how our government is set up in the constitution. it’s separation of powers.
In the RAFVR, we did "Unusual attitudes" under the hood, so could not see out - instructor pulls hard G so the gyros all tumble, THEN give you back the a/c! Nothing to be frightened of - not much to do - close throttle to reduce descent if going down; hold stick firmly in case going backwards (not often). And the plane will sort itself out. The ADI comes back first, then the other gyros. Was fun! I used to chuckle to show instructor how cool I was.......they gave me a Permanent Commission, one of 20 from 4,000 applicants. Very flattering.
Thank you for your compliment. We were the tip of the spear; untouchable - had 1250s, Officers passes, so no speeding tickets. Woiud break things in the Mess but nothing ever said....BUT suffered terrible nightmares when pulling hard G; dying several times a night. Not wanting to sleep because AGAIN augering in at 300kts, pulling back but doing nothing. BAM! Would love to take you to do aeros. Pull 7G!!! Unbelievable. Tunnel vision, then black. Cheers.

I was permanent resident in Australia and wanted to join the RAAF but the primary requirements is I need to be a citizen. and wanted to work my way around to join the Air force.
I remember going to the recruiting office after college. And wanted to be a pilot. Either F16 or Apache AH-64. When I inquired about it, I was laughed at. To the point were the recruiter pointed at me and laughed, then called the other guys and told them that I wanted to be a pilot. They all started laughing. I was told it would be a fat chance in h3ll that I would ever be a pilot. They kept laughing to the point that I got upset and just left. And never looked back. After that day, I never wanted to be part of any military, because the way I was treated and talked down to like I was 5 years old. Mind you, I just graduated from college. That day seriously sucked for me. What pisses me off is they didn't even test me. They just blatantly made fun of me and laughed.

Why were they laughing? Don’t good recruiters welcome interest? I think those recruiters did a disservice to you and to the U.S. military, which could have benefited from your talents in any number of ways.

You do not have to go to the academy to become a pilot in the military. You can make it through having a commission from ROTC, or OTS as well. I am ROTC grad and am at UPT now.

I interviewed to be a pilot for the ang but didn’t get it so I enlisted as a flight engineer. Before I went to basic training one of the pilots dropped out and the operations commander told me I’m going to pilot training 🤯 almost had a heart attack when they told me. I’m super excited but also a bit nervous

I wanna fly sooooo bad. However on the air force guideline page for applicants it says any skin condition including psoriasis will disqualify. I have really really dry skin. Sucks that it is something so simple that would keep someone out.
I had a really bad psoriasis problem on both my hands for years. Nothing medical worked, so I decided to reflect on my day-to-day life and discover that I was under tremendous stress all of the time because of my job that I didn't like and some family issues. I decided to make some changes, got a new job that I like and work on family issues with a therapist. A year later, I'm no longer under stress and my psoriasis is completely gone.

Slightly confusing as it only focuses on the fighter jocks. What about the other pilots? From air tankers to transport to recon? Do they start as jocks and when age kicks in they get "downgraded" to C-17s? Do you need to learn to deal with 9G if you're the one flying the KC135?
I think the mileage should exceed the mileage for a commercial pilot license....Three and over with all kinds of weather.... unexpected scenarios in simulator and then traffic high times all weather, times of day ..better over than under trained....

The impact on the ground when landing is like jumping from a height of two meters and not from this toy in the video. If the wind is blowing at the same time, the impact is even stronger. And if the legs are bent at the knees before landing, the legs will break like breadsticks.

Prior Navy here. Big difference between the two: When the air force lands, that aircraft and crew are done. Navy, because we're "touch 'n' go" orientated, we would land and then maneuver for take off again. This always annoyed the air traffic controllers at Elgin and Nellis. We would tease our air force brethren with a mocking motto: "USAF--No War After 4." (As in 1600.)

You don’t need to go to the academy to fly. And, the only thing ANY college has to do with being a pilot is that one needs to be a commissioned officer to be a pilot. 🙄 So no, the training isn’t nearly that long.
guys question, i've had it in my mind to enlist in the air force for a while, since the air force has an accredited community college would i be able to get my bachelor's degree in there without having to apply somewhere else? since a fighter pilot position requires a bachelor's?
community colleges are only associates (2 year) degrees, so unless they aren't actually a community college and offer 4 year programs, probably not, sorry. that doesn't mean you can't still follow the path though, hang in there. :)

Fighter jets are pretty much the easiest aircraft to fly..They have a good power to weight ratio which makes it easier to fly than like a Cessna,which can't even do o snap roll when told to..

Aspiring pilots, just because a requirement isn't met, does not mean you are doomed. You can be waived through a lot of these, with testing, and time.

You don’t need to go to the academy to fly. And, the only thing ANY college has to do with being a pilot is that one needs to be a commissioned officer to be a pilot. 🙄 So no, the training isn’t nearly that long.

guys question, i've had it in my mind to enlist in the air force for a while, since the air force has an accredited community college would i be able to get my bachelor's degree in there without having to apply somewhere else? since a fighter pilot position requires a bachelor's?
community colleges are only associates (2 year) degrees, so unless they aren't actually a community college and offer 4 year programs, probably not, sorry. that doesn't mean you can't still follow the path though, hang in there. :)

There are some eye surgeries you can have done depending on how bad your eyes are. I think LASIK is accepted if it’s correctable up to 20/20.
You can have glasses if it corrects your via to 20/20 I believe

@@imoqtz3332 not at all, msfs is meant for everyone, its simple to play, its focused on making extremely realistic graphics, not gameplay. They make very realistic private planes and airliners, just not military aircraft, its laughable what they do in their military aircraft remakes

Fighter jets are pretty much the easiest aircraft to fly..They have a good power to weight ratio which makes it easier to fly than like a Cessna,which can't even do o snap roll when told to..
