Review of First In Flight - Early Airplane Deck Building Game

- Race your opponents to build and pilot the best “flyers” in the push-your-luck, deck building game First in Flight from Artana. Each player will improve their flyer design with a deck of cards and flying is a blackjack-style challenge to test each design. Players will move their pilots around the board collecting upgrade cards for their deck over the course of 4 rounds. As they take flight and reveal their cards, their goal is to get above 40 and have the highest total at the end of the game. We’ll give you all of our thoughts on First in Flight in our full board game review video.

About the game ending in the 3rd round because some players were able to put together a end-game triggering flight by then... The designer has said on BGG that the game is actually designed so that it would end during the 3rd round when played by experienced gamers. He went on to say that the only reason there's a 4th round is to accommodate new or casual players who may not have picked up the nuances of assembling a strong, long flight. For them, he wanted the game to have a cut-off point (hence four rounds). But yeah, he said it's normal for most games to end in the 3rd round... that's by design.
If it's by design, then the design works in that regard.
