    That's a lot of gaited horses. My favorite is at 3:00 minutes! He's smoking it. Trail riding is very popular down here in SW Louisiana, too. Usually lots of good food, music, and dancing. Country people having good fun.

    I m just going to say it ....You larger rider's don't realize just how damaging it is to these horses that are obviously underweight and undersized for you.....not to mention - that most try but don't have enough experience to properly ride with out yanking on the mouth's ....
    Just so dam hard to watch this video...

    Nice to see so many walking horses. Some good riders here and some kinda rough ones. Hard to have soft hands when your seat it so loose. It's great to see everyone out having fun but remember that a horse isn't simply a tool. You are partners.

      with such a community as that it would make so much sense if they formed their own sort of "pony club" activity for the youth to teach safety, general knowledge and riding skills. For some it would wind up becoming a career.

    Read a story about a Doc who lived back around the turn of the last century. He had a big black wakin' horse. He went over the mountain to Franklin, NC and delivered a baby... 36 mileseach way. A blizzard was blowing in, but he headed home anyway. The big black racked up the mountain and down again in a blowing blizzard... 36 miles. His sons poured water on his legs and boots. He was frozen in the saddle. The big black was fine...

    My friend went in one of those trot alongs and her horse dropped dead from a heart attack. Be careful and take care of those horses they cant tell you when its too much for them.

    How many horses survived? Some look terribly sweaty, rolling eyes, kind of fearful - and some riders way too heavy and weaponed with sticks ... horribly sharp curb bits enough to break a horse's jaw.. :( No offence and correct me if I am wrong.

      I just want to say that I love this, single footing is something I had no awareness of but from riding a Walker I get it!!! Your huge rides look fun. Where I come from we tend to ride in small groups in the cascade mountains, ride on my good people!!!

      horses ain't too small. no such thing as a "too small" horse. Rider can be too big and fat for the horse, however. it's sad to see so many people in one place not give due consideration to the animal they bouncing up and down on. selfish bunch.

    🐎 Loved watching everyone of the horses with their riders, there's nothing better than the sound of horses on the trail. Every one of the riders have amazing seats...right in the saddle. Could tell the respect of rider and horse...great vibes all around. Did not want it to end 🐎

    Okay, so it would be safer to wear helmets. And, most of the people are good riders, but others just have a hard hand. And when you see the horse's tail up in an odd curved way, sometimes that means the horse's back is in pain.

      Your not suppose to bounce around in a walker. They’re suppose to be smooth ride, but that’s all you can do with then. Now when you have a non walker you can run, jump and dressage. Now that my boy does. He’s an all around horse.

    Why do you choose this gait for riding? Isn't hard on them physically? I've haven't seen this before...I feel sorry for those poor horses. This makes them too high strung for which they're probably punished. The owners/riders need horsemanship lessons. This is not relaxing at ALL. Wish I hadn't seen this video.

      If Your not knowledgeably is 0 then You should first learn about the Breed before making Uneducated comments. Like the Island Horse/ Pony these Tennessee Walkers have a Special gait. It’s Their Natural gait. Google is there for Us to learn what We don’t know.

      The gait is something that these horses do naturally. Look up baby Tennesse walkers, Icelandics, paso finos, spotted saddle horses. They all just do that. I ride a spotted saddle horse sometimes, and I dont really know anything about riding/ training gaited horses and she just does her thing.

      @@rebeccadees2300 Look up tennessee walkers, there is a natural gait they have, this is not it though. 99% of this is pacing, which is bad for them. I own a walker myself that paces and I am trying to teach him to gait correctly.

      @@rebeccadees2300 my Saddle bred mare was bred to a Tn Walker and the foal used this gait for several steps as we were putting her in her stall...it's a natural run/ gait and the others are racking...it's a single foot gait..many are standard breeds that couldn't make it at the track so they are used under saddle

    Wow I can honestly say I have never seen such a blatant disregard for a horses back and kidneys and the safety of the rider. Does know one know how to post when a horse is trotting or not to lean so far back in the saddle that your pounding on the horses kidneys. I'm not trying to be a Karen, I've tought people how to ride horses and to keep your furry friend happy and healthy for years to come and just watching this video makes me want to cry for these poor animals. They all are going to need Chiropractic work after this.

      Most of the horses are not trotting (diagonal legs moving together); therefore, you can't post. Most of the horses are a gated breed (TN walker, Missouri Foxtrotter, etc) so the right legs (front & back) kick forward while the left legs are back. Its actually quite smooth. There aren't very many walkers where I live, so I've only riden one, but it was amazing.

      @@christinaheater2500 yes but despite this you still need proper positioning because no matter how smooth a gait is, how your sitting will affect where and how much pressure is paced on the horses back. Not to mention some of these riders have very harsh hands. I just think some of them should get their tack refitted, and go seek instruction from a professional instructor as this is really damaging for the horse.

      I'd rather ride a horse that's not afraid of 4 wheelers, trucks and traffic than try to calm down a horse that's afraid. Get them used to it and they're not going to spook. I'd like to know how many of the ungaited horses work cattle alongside people on 4 wheelers.

      Some are gaited horses, (5 gaited or 3 ) some are Tennessee Walkers, some are Missouri Fox Troters, and I think I saw a Paso Fino in there as well.

      @@Q1Rong I highly recommend so. Always wear a helmet and approperiate riding clothes!
      Btw, this whole video is just rampant animal abuse, so you can use this as what to look out for in red flags.
      The people have no fucking idea of how to even sit right and I don't even have to ride western to see that and then go on to defend themselves and gloat on them abusing the horses.
      Look up videos of english and western riding. I'd recommend looking at someone like This Esme for english style and RaleighLink14 for more of a western standing. Unfortunately TH-cam has a fuckton of abusive western riders.

      @@djmcflyy2346 ok first of all skin color has nothing to do with it. I don’t care how you look but you need to know how to handle a horse. These are animals it’s not about the people it’s about the welfare of the animals. And I wouldn’t agree with anyone using a whip incorrectly. They are simple an extension of the leg and used as a tickle or a tap. Before you start an argument please be knowledgeable on what you are talking about. I actually own a horse and work with very knowledgeable trainers that are part of the pony club group, and just so you know... most Olympic riders are pony club graduates so the people I work with are very knowledgeable. If you are going to own a horse you need to treat it with care and respect. Make sure you have the time to give it proper exercise and attention, make sure the horse is the right size to support you, make sure your tack is properly fitted, and please please know how to ride and take lessons before you buy a horse. They are living creatures with a right to a comfortable healthy life and most of those horses are showing body language that indicates extreme discomfort.

    More like "sitting on a horse without falling off" or with much regard for the balance of size between horse and rider

      "Strange" ? How So ? The "bounce" while a horse is trotting is one of the "unpleasant" things about horseback riding. People with back problems give up on the sport because of that very thing. Senior citizens stop riding because of it and so on ,and so on... Gaited Horses take that unpleasant "jarring" bounce out of the experience .. There is no need to "post" on a Paso Fino ! LOL ... While I've owned more Quarter Horses than gaited horses in my life time , when it comes to pleasure riding , Tennessee Walking Horses are very addicting ! But , there is no right or wrong choice , it only matters what "YOU" like and want to buy with "YOUR" hard earned cash !!!! Thank you so much for commenting

      not sure how fun it is, to be held to an unnatural gait (such as pacing/racking), and then asked to go at what looks like top speed (no idea how long they were being asked to go that speed, if it was just for the camera)

    I have no idea what kind of ride-race this is or why it came on mine --- but glad it did-- this was cool👍👍🤗 & those horses dont get spooked by the ATV's or other Vehicles??? Wow, how many people participated?? -- Was this for some type of cause, or special event??-- thanks👍

      These trail rides happen each weekend in this part of the country (Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana) with alternating cities... These horses get a lot of training around ATV's and traffic at young ages so there is rarely any problems of that nature.. . As for as an actual head count, I have NO idea ! LOL Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment

      It’s called, “putting your feet on the dash”. It’s a comfortable way to ride a gaited horse & can help the horse to be smoother & faster.
