Happened to me not even a month ago. I made the mistake of putting a sealed copy of Starfield that I had purchased from walmart for personal use, never got around to playing it and just said why not i'll send it in and make some money back. Once the shipment arrived it immediately got flagged saying I was not an authorized seller and they believe that the game is a fake. Once I explained to an Amazon rep that I have the receipt from Walmart and was able to provide it they immeidately turned around and said I needed an invoice for every single item I currently have in stock. We are talking about two thousand individual SKUs. I came out fine as like Chase, Amazon was a small part of my business but was it infuritating. Still getting 100s of packages a day getting returned to me.

My options were to prove every single item with an invoice or get banned, like chase mentioned there are tons of items that are just discontinued and there is no way of proving how you got it. It’s not worth the fight for me at least. The annoying part is getting the rest of my funds back, Amazon makes you wait three months to even try to get your remaining funds and it’s just another appeal process for the exact same thing you got banned for so I’m not expecting anything back.

I’ve been doing this full time for three years on multiple platforms and in that time I’ve made mistakes, this is going to happen to anyone on their reselling journey, but the difference between Amazon and any other reselling platform is that you get chance to rectify your mistake. I had one issue and I was removed from Amazon and that was that. No amount of going through Amazons policy was going to change that. It’s a simple mistake and anyone here could have made it.
stopped doing amazon 2 years ago when they asked me for basically all the info they needed to backdoor my connection to product. horrible business for resellers
its there sandbox but hey look the bright side the FTC and 17 state attorney generals (more to come) have a law suit against amazon THIS is one of the reason they put in there law suit amongst MANY all we can do now is keep our fingers crossed if this truly happen to you contact the FTC to tell your story to them they might be able to use it as evidence against Amazon
My husband’s store was kicked off for a $20 putting golf game. I’ve been online selling for years. The product was bought at a Amazon bin store and even had Amazon stickers on it. No matter how many times I tried to explain…nothing. Just demanded an invoice. To me this is monopolistic and blocks others from fair commerce. I think they just want invoices to set up accounts for themselves. Thank GOD we have other stores. Even if they reinstated, I would not do business with them. This was about 3 month ago and they have yet to release the funds. Unethical at its finest. Now I only buy products from there as a last resort. It’s disheartening 😢
Amazon is not sustainable for this kind of business. I'm amazed that retro/used games have been available this long. Amazon is moving toward only selling direct from big companies and selling cheap trash from China without much room inbetween. Best of luck to you guys. At least you have an alternate source for selling.
1000% Correct it was gong to happen sooner or later just like they did to all the Retail Arbitrage sellers in 2015 wiped them clean off the site alot of us OLD timers (been selling full time on amazon since 1998) told these sellers of retail arbitrage they are going to get get kicked off sooner or later better stop now and play by the rules then try to skirt around them. Right now, online retail has never needed anything more than an end to the virtual monopolies of Amazon and eBay, both of which I abandoned, as both buyer and seller, quite recently after 20 years of business. Just tired of increasingly poor delivery services, problems dealt with brick wall conversations, or online advice that simply takes me round in circles. There are other platforms of course, but none as convenient (won't touch the Chinese) - and that convenience is fast becoming not worth it any more, especially for smaller casual concerns. It's clear that both Amazon and eBay are now using their market dominance to control that market, not serve it.
ive heard once amazon gets this so called invoice they see if they can go behind the sellers back and contacts that supplier directly and says he will will give you more for per item then (John Doe) is and then you just so happen to see amazon selling the exact same item at a cheaper price then that seller is...if they doing this thats very very sad

Amazon sells so many counterfeit retro games it is ridiculous. Crazy how they ban sellers for selling new modern games like Starfield where counterfeits don’t even exist.
Didn't watch it all, so I don't know if you said it, but it's definitely to stop retail stolen goods from being sold on there. I'm honestly kinda happy though, because with this new rule, people will go back to selling on eBay and they won't be able to overcharge for retro games anymore.
My friend recently got banned because his buyer account was on the same email as his Amazon account . He gave a third-party seller a bad review for for trying to screw him over. The seller complained, and my buddy got hit with an unfair seller competition account shutdown . When he appealed, they evaluated everything including his returns, and other reviews he gave when he got screwed over. Basically he can't open a new account until Amazon lets him again. I have no idea how long the ban is

I got strikes on a game because Amazon sent other stock to a buyer not from me and the buyer said they had fake games in them. Now I can’t get approved to sell that brand anymore even with invoices.
Before whatnot existed, Chase said he tried to keep eBay and Amazon even as far as revenue. Which I ignored and continued to shrink my ebay and grow my AZ. I was doing very well before getting the boot from AZ. I was making 90% from AZ and 10% on ebay. It has taken alot of hard work to get my ebay store built up to be able to survive from only that revenue. I think about that everytime I watch Caleb talking about his new AZ only move.
What about other ways of selling where you have less risk? What are your thoughts about selling at a convention? Facebook groups like the high end? Or even setting up a website like lukie games or DK oldies?
Setting up their own website makes the most sense considering the audience they already have on social media. At least in my opinion. Conventions are definitely great too but that involves having to travel around a lot too.

I hate that this is happening to folks, My heart really goes out to those who are being unfairly targeted for older products, but like you said, their sandbox, their rules. The other issue is, there is ALOT of misbranded items on Amazon in the gaming section as well as others, that open you to an air of liability regardless of the gray area your playing in. Newer sellers dont understand listing under proper listings IF they exist, and for alot of cases, even for very popular titles, they dont exist and were created improperly, and sadly thats where the sales volume is and people list under it. That sadly puts a target on your back, while you MAY get away with it for now....eventually the house wins. Theres a shakeup going on right now, stuff like this happens, but there are ways to cover your butt and there are resources out there to help mitigate Amazons shenanigans, you just have to seek them out. Protect your self and protect your business.

a distributor is way different then a wholesaler even if you would have gone through with it its not official channels to get inventory (under amazon rules) you have to find out who the official Authorized Distributor's are and buy directly from them or the company NOT a wholesaler go google "distributor vs Wholesaler" google will explain all

Why doesn't catrp have their own web store? I feel like catrp and customers could benefit from cutting out the middle man fees. I get listing niche items may not make sense, but why not your console bundles, and merch? You could slowly add more items if the popularity picks up.

As a buyer honestly I see this as a good thing. Too often have a bought games on Amazon only for the game to not be as advertised. For instance the picture was the gold Wind Waker HD yet the game I got was the Nintendo Selects. Other times the game was advertised in like new condition yet what I received was far from it. Where as eBay you can at least see the actual pictures from each seller so you know what you’re getting.
I have a hard time believing Amazon is asking for invoices from a seller who is selling predominantly used games. I'd assume they'd be targeting a seller who sells a lot of brand new Legos, or high end clothing/shoes and possibly electronics. Brand new, and the seller is selling it in higher numbers. Basically they want to make sure your not part of some retail theft ring, whether you even know you are or not. If you sell bulk new Legos your buying from some connection, and your paying cash, and not asking where they got it etc, and it's all stolen. You are part of that theft ring. Even if it is all stolen and you innocently buy it, but continue to buy it and sell it, Amazon doesn't want your business and the trouble that comes with it. My assumption.
I don't know about that in Canada. I just went on Amazon Canada and searched parasite eve 2. It won't ship to me in the USA, but it was available used from third party sellers.
I believe one of the first companies to be restricted/requiring invoices even for used games was Electronic Arts, a few years back. And then more companies followed.

As an Amazon buyer, I see this as a good thing. There is just so much junk items being sold by "questionable" sellers. Literally the same listings, the same pictures all located in China and the only difference being the names of the sellers. Then as a seller, I see this as a tremendous pain in the butt having to prove an invoice, again, because of shifty sellers selling goods that are not what they are advertised to be. The fault is Amazon's for letting it get to this point. For years they were happy to not do anything about this problem. Just take the commission and let their site be flooded with questionable sellers. Thankfully, there are other places for us buyer/sellers to go.

Yes it happen in 2015 i have reselling on both amazon and eBay since 98' i have seen this a few items it all comes down to the platform protecting themselves from LIABLITY from the companies This is why most that were on YT in the early 2010's doing Retail Arbitrage on Amazon are NO LONGER on amazon OR YT there were all banned they were warned by LONG time amazon sellers like myself and others here and on the amazon seller Forums (most sellers that frequent the amazon seller forums will have NO sympathy for these new round of sellers being band they will say they brought it on themselves BY NOT READING THE RULES and NOT UNDERSTANDING the rules OR JUST IGNORNING THE RULES) this is why amazon has Amazon Seller UNIVERSITY all sellers ARE SUPPOSE TO watch those videos it to start selling. Just because you might get ungated for ONE item or Category does not mean you have the authorization to sell anything in that category amazon assumes you have authorization from the Authorized Distributor or Company and they assume that is where you are getting your Inventory from NOt wal Mart or any other retail store NOR thrifts or yard sales or flea markets.......if i can give any advice you want to have your account for 20 plus years IF ITS gated DONT LIST IT on amazon FIND ANOTHER platform to sell it on period. i could see this coming its like every 10 years they purge sellers who are either pliantly ignoring the rules or were stupid to not read them and understand them in the first place to them (amazon) they do not need sellers like that that do not read or comprehend the rules or BREAK THEM pliantly. i do agree with one thing you stated and its been an issue amazon has yet in over 20 years addressed or fixed the issue where they had the original listing that amazon created in there catalog but then you had the idols that are Pro merchants that could not get ungated for one reason or another so instead of just saying okay i cant list i ton amazon ill list it elsewhere they go an create a whole new Product detail page FOR THAT ITEM now we have 2 product Detail Pages for the same item then we have 3 then we have 4 and so on and so on which one is the LEGIT one again i have been on amazon for 25 years i can spot the fake product detail pages from the ones amazon ORIGINALLY created for there catalog
It has to do a lot of with the shoplifting that is rampant in the large cities
i closed my amazon acct atleast 8 yrs ago. they were pulling that crap on me, not for everything, just at random it seemed. i assumed then it was to protect bigger sellers?

the other day i went and scanned a nintendo game and now mine says restricted cant even submit the invoices for nintendo granted i was not selling nintendo products at the time but i had just not even 24 hours before that happened sealed the contract with the wholesaler for nintendo good thing i didnt place the order
a distributor is way different then a wholesaler even if you would have gone through with it its not official channels to get inventory (under amazon rules) you have to find out who the official Authorized Distributor's are and buy directly from them or the company NOT a wholesaler go google "distributor vs Wholesaler" google will explain all

They have kicked/gated sellers all the time nothing new. Just sucks its happening now to a lot of sellers who rely on Amazon.
Why doesn't catrp have their own web store? I feel like catrp and customers could benefit from cutting out the middle man fees. I get listing niche items may not make sense, but why not your console bundles, and merch? You could slowly add more items if the popularity picks up.

As a buyer honestly I see this as a good thing. Too often have a bought games on Amazon only for the game to not be as advertised. For instance the picture was the gold Wind Waker HD yet the game I got was the Nintendo Selects. Other times the game was advertised in like new condition yet what I received was far from it.
Where as eBay you can at least see the actual pictures from each seller so you know what you’re getting.

I have a hard time believing Amazon is asking for invoices from a seller who is selling predominantly used games.
I'd assume they'd be targeting a seller who sells a lot of brand new Legos, or high end clothing/shoes and possibly electronics. Brand new, and the seller is selling it in higher numbers.
Basically they want to make sure your not part of some retail theft ring, whether you even know you are or not. If you sell bulk new Legos your buying from some connection, and your paying cash, and not asking where they got it etc, and it's all stolen. You are part of that theft ring. Even if it is all stolen and you innocently buy it, but continue to buy it and sell it, Amazon doesn't want your business and the trouble that comes with it. My assumption.
It's been going on in canada for 2 years now anything that's first party playstation can't be posted even if it's ps2 or ps1 new or used
I don't know about that in Canada. I just went on Amazon Canada and searched parasite eve 2. It won't ship to me in the USA, but it was available used from third party sellers.
I believe one of the first companies to be restricted/requiring invoices even for used games was Electronic Arts, a few years back. And then more companies followed.

As an Amazon buyer, I see this as a good thing. There is just so much junk items being sold by "questionable" sellers. Literally the same listings, the same pictures all located in China and the only difference being the names of the sellers. Then as a seller, I see this as a tremendous pain in the butt having to prove an invoice, again, because of shifty sellers selling goods that are not what they are advertised to be. The fault is Amazon's for letting it get to this point. For years they were happy to not do anything about this problem. Just take the commission and let their site be flooded with questionable sellers. Thankfully, there are other places for us buyer/sellers to go.
Please trust they are banning exactly 0 Chinese sellers
