Lance was one of if not the best young teen actor back in the 70's & 80's, and he will truly be missed. "Salems Lot" is still the best Vampire movie ever. R.I.P. Lance we will miss you!
I had to re post here as a way to pay my respects to Lance. I did get a chance to meet Lance this past year. He was very easy to talk to was not afraid to talk about certain mistakes in his life. He was just a very genuine kind person when I met him and he really loved his fans. I am very sad to learn of his passing but today I remember what I felt after meeting him. He had seemed to finally have found peace with his life. I will always remember him that way.
I saw him talk to another dude at a convention just a couple of months later, on YT, then three months after that he passed of heart ailment issues it says. Seems rather sudden because he's talking animatedly and w detailed anecdotes. So it's hard for us to understand what happened.
Both Lance and David Soul gone within a year of each other. But the film lives on forever with both Lance and David Soul now immortal in the evolution of the vampire genre
Lance, you did not have to do this interview. You saw so much in Hollywood, good and bad. I think Hollywood was esstially the Vampie in "Salem's Lot." Thank you, sir!! God Bless the Kerwin family.
I'm told I look younger than my years but I was there in 1979 aged 17 to watch Salem's Lot when it was first screened. Let me tell you I never slept for a week. Haha. Now, 43 years on, it's still the best horror movie for chills and scares I have ever seen. Even in 2022 I would never watch it at night in the dark with the lights turned off and I am 60 years old. Haha. Thanks for the interview.
DAVID WOULD SAID YEARS AND YEARS AFTER 1979 RELEASE THAT EVEN HE WAS IN THE FILM WITH THE OTHER ACTORS,WHEN ...HE SAW THE FILM BACK HE SAID THAT IT DID STILL GIVE HIM THE CHILLS....IMAGINE THE REST OF US ! 😱😱😱😱😂😂,THE ATMOSPHERE AND TENSION DURING THE WHOLE FILM YOU CAN NOT FIND IT IN ANY HORROR FILM OF TODAY....ALL CHARACTERS WERE PLAYED BY ALL THE ACTORS,INCLUDING DAVID DAVID SOULAND BONNIE BEDELLIA ! 💖💖💖🙏🙏👍🐐🐐😱😱😱
@@manuelfedericocachazasanju5294 The movie was cut down from 3 hours to about 90 minutes for a DVD release I think. Anyone watching this has to watch the whole 3 hours, for atmosphere and perspective.
I am going to a convention next week in Indy . I am really looking forward to meeting him. He was fantastic in his role. Greatest vampire film of all time.
RIP Lance. This is also my favorite movie of all time, I've seen it hundreds of times. My dad used to show this movie to me and siblings when we were little, and we would hide behind the couch whenever Barlow would appear. Still spooks me out till this day. Everything about this movie is pure gold. It has aged so well. Reminds me of the greatest years of my life. This movie has a distinct vibe to it, it's not just a horror movie, it's an embodiment of the late 70's with the visuals, sounds effects, music, incredible practical effects and so much more. It's hard to explain, it's just perfect. I've memorized every line in this movie. Straker is clearly the best character and the most memorable. "Mr. Barlow is on a buying trip, but the moment he arrives...you'll enjoy Mr. Barlow, and he'll enjoy you." "I think that an evil house attracts evil men." "The house was a monument to the evil, sitting there all those years holding the essence of evil in it's smoldering bones." "monument? who's monument? The Marsten House?" "Careful, you move that barrel Larry and I'll blow you away." "Back holy man! Back shaman! Back priest! He'll cut the boy's throat." "There are no atheists in foxholes." "get out! I revoke my invitation!" "Ned Tebbet's body has disappeared from the morgue and the baby that died this morning is gone." "I have a very valuable, uh sideboard, a Hepplewhite that has to be picked up" "Still married? Still no children?" "That's who he is, return of the native, or is it the prodigal son?" "Sweetest singing I ever heard" " as much as I believe that trees have souls." "Don't look at him!" "sleep like the dead, teacher!" "he killed my parents!" "keep your eye on him, and your mouth shut." "I have two black suits, they're up at the house." I could be here all day lol stating my favorite lines. Anyhow thanks for the video. Lance will be deeply missed.
Great interview. Mark was an empowering character for me as a child. It wasn’t often, back then, for a teenager to be portrayed with that kind of strength - driving away vampires from his window and telling Barlow he’s going to kill him.
This was amazing brother. You did phenomenal getting this to become a reality. Sounds like Lance has had hard times and that makes me sad. He has always been an important part of my life and the character of Mark Petrie was the first where I saw a reflection of myself in media. I loved this interview very much. Hard to put into words how much it meant. You are the man Danny. Best to you and your family.
Ben, this means more than you know. For me to be able to do something like this and make so many people happy, is just amazing to me. I would have loved to have more time because I could sit and talk all day with him. I'm just glad you liked it.
WOW, one of my first crushes and he's STILL lovely, and the voice hasn't changed at all. Thanks again Danny, can't thank you enough bringing back all the great memories.

The Lot is a big part of my life, I must get out to FERNDALE one day , its on my list , Greetings from Wales UK. Lance is awesome. James mason was unbeatable, amazing interview Lance you are a legend 💥
Hey Lawson, Im next door in Dublin Ireland. Had to reply to you coz its rare to meet another James Mason fan these days, and yes Lance was great and good to hear he's back acting 👍
Sad news about Lance, I'm happy you had a chance to interview him when you did. I'm also fond of the 1979 Salem's lot movie and was happy when the blu ray was finally released. I saw several of Lance's shows & movies. 'The boy who drank too much' I saw when I was 11 years old. Sadly I haven't seen 'James at 15' to this day but vaguely remember it being on the air.
Dr Danny...you must be so proud of filming this just a few months ago. Thank you. Really sad, really touched to hear this news tonight somewhat late...a month late in fact. Well done for persuading him to give this interview. Don't know much about this actor, only through Salem's Lot as UK audiences might not have followed this actor's career but that one TV mini series shown on BBC 1 late Friday night in 79 or 80,made a big impact. Condolences to his family and friends.
Thank you so much for this interview! I am an actor and Lance inspired me su much when I was a kid and first watched Salem’s Lot. Loved listening to him! Wonderful human being! Made me cry at the end knowing he had passed on. I salute you Lance Kerwin ❤🙏🏻
You did a wonderful job with the interview. It was a lot like herding cats. Just keeping him on topic was pretty much impossible. That's what a lifetime of substance abuse will leave you with. I feel sad about it. I had no idea what happened to him. I remember crushin on Lance in the 70s and 80s. I would watch anything he was in. I really didn't even know what it meant at the time.
It's so sad that Lance Kerwin is no longer with us. As a 70s kid. I loved every role he did in film and television. He brought class and intellectualism to every role. Really looked up to the dude! Especially as Mark Petrie. I wanted to be Mark when I grew up! The Classic Film Monster nerd turned heroic Vampire Hunter. Salem's Lot the miniseries is a Masterpiece! Very interesting to see that his voice didn't change in old age. That's very rare!
Indescribably Mark Petrie. This was only 8 months ago and as you watch and listen, you hear the tenor of Lance and therefore Mark. So sad to hear this news. The mini series Salem's Lot was absolutely a landmark production given the standards of that time and Mark, as a warrior fighting against this disease with Ben at his side, an odd combination, but worked so well. Rest now. You'll be missed.
i saw Salems a few years back with my late father just him and me watching it , true story i was drinking a cup of tea when the jail scene came up and yes tea went all over when i jumped lol , great memories and i watched Salems just the other night , anyone not seen it make a point of it . great interview this was thankyou for posting it .
That's funny. Many years ago we were watching it and the kids were playing upstairs. My daughter comes in the room exactly at that moment when Barlow pops up. She looked very disturbed.
I remember when salems lot came on tv.me and some childhood friends couldnt wait to see it.and the walk to school every morning, Salems lot was the topic of conversation....lance kerwin is a great guy and actor..kool intetview.
Thank you Danny for this gift. How cool that he is still acting, and he seems really down to earth. Cannot wait for his new movie. How lucky 🍀 that I will be visiting Hawaii soon and i hope to see the movie before I go. Thanks again for your time and patience in getting the interview, and thanks to Lance for sharing his life! I thoroughly enjoyed this. ❤️❤️❤️
Salem's lot 79' of course , is my favorite movie of all time too. This was such a great interview with Lance ( Mark) and I learned a lot I never heard before. Loved it❤ Rip Lance and David Soul 🙏 I also had to laugh when you said you watch it every Sunday bc I watch it at least once a week too lol😅
Wow he was great 👍 Great interview man, well done. 👏 Ye this adaption does have a huge following in Ireland. Im from Dublin and I think its because our national tv channel showed it more than it was shown in other countries this side of the pond. Can't wait for the remake... whenever it comes out! 😉👍
Wow Danny this was so awesome I really enjoyed watching and listening to this interview with Lance such a great guy I definitely want to watch him in this new movie he doing Danny thank you for always bringing us some awesome interview with these great actors it's so amazing thanks again my friend 😃😃😃😃😃👋👋👋👋👋👋👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤
That was really really cool. How kind of Lance to give his time, and plenty of it too! He doesn't like to sit still by the looks of it does he? 😂 Like you guys, I loved the movie. It was incredibly well made considering all the effects were real and no digital stuff. And of course, frightening as hell. The scene with Geoffrey Lewis in the rocking chair has never left me after all these years. The build up of Matt Burke hearing a bump, and then walking upstairs with the crucifix was high class cinema. When Ryerson looked up and those eyes shone, I was scared witless !
Danny, I was pleasantly surprised to see the person I just happen to have as an online Spanish teacher, also interviewing Lance. It is sad to hear of his passing. It seemed like a "random" news story. I had not idea there would be such a connection to you personally. I guess it is a small world.
My favorite Horror movie of all time...Great gig Danny.....BTW.....Those Tamas you have look pretty nice?Same for me in my picture, check out the finish...Keep up the great work!
Great interview Danny! Thank you! Would have been better without the shaky cam. No matter though. I hope Lance is doing well. I know he’s had a rough road. God bless him!
👍👍👍This interview is absolute Gold dust and I'm only a quarter way in! Thank you so much for finding Lance and giving him a platform to share his experiences on the Salem's Lot set. The never to be topped, scary as Hell 1979 original was twice as long and TEN TIMES more engaging than this newest, thoroughly unnecessary 2024 remake. The young kid playing Mark Petrie is cute but couldn't hold a candle to Lance Kerwin in the role and seemed way too young. He also failed in conveying the real adolescent fear for the horrors awaiting Salem's Lot. Further his camaraderie with Ben Mears was non existent and his puffed up 'Super Hero' shtick felt about as authentic as a Rock'Em Sock'Em Robot. Further I was appalled how this remake shamelessly ripped off the now historic 'window' visitations not to mention the hospital 'awakening' and without nearly the skill or spine chilling cinematic nuance. Give me taped together tongue depressors as a cross ANY DAY over some ridiculous, glowing CGI garbage... but WOW Alfre Woodard's hair sure looked great! LOL, Judas Priest...🙄
You're right -- during the "staking scene" of Barlow in the cellar, it really looked as though David Soul threw James at 15 pretty hard into that table. I was always afraid Lance Kerwin had been injured there. Good stunt effect.
I just found out that Lance sadly passed away the year after this interview. Such a wonderfully talented actor and he seemed like a genuine and sweet person.
That's the one thing I did notice is that his voice really hadn't changed that much! You know how some tones alter with time. I closed my eyes and heard him recite his school pageant...lol.
Danny,Great methodical point by point interview!...Maybe u could try and contact Brad Savage again for an interview!..P.S. Great question about the shove into the table in basement scene, I always wanted to ask about that!
I know I'm extremely late to the game, but I just learned of this version of Salem's Lot. Didn't know David Soul was in it, and I loved watching Starsky and Hutch when I was a kid. I feel I've missed my chance of meeting anyone from this movie. I wish it was on streaming, but I'll just buy the DVD. Hopefully, I can find one with the entire miniseries, not just the movie adaptation.
@Everything-hw4jb I found a DVD on eBay. Is there a DVD of the whole miniseries? I'm glad I found this version now as well. Something funny... when Ralphie is a vampire, he looks *just like* my younger nephew. Who knew his doppelganger was a vampire from 1979. 😅 I also have the book, so now that I have faces for the characters, I'm more inclined to read the book.
He died recently didn't he? Way to young. Funny, when I got into this book I was Marks age and now I am getting to the age of Matt. How time flies. Sad that there were problems in his life later on.
I only rediscovered this film recently after seeing it as a kid, then to find out the actor passed recently, great film, if ever you want a really good slow burn vampire movie, look no futher than Salems Lot.
So sad that he's not with us to see the new one, when it eventually materialises !! 😥 And such a sad loss, to his family, friends and fans !! 😥 He was perhaps a little too old to play the pivotal role of young monster fan Mark Petrie, in Hooper's original, buy he realy did make the role his own, due to his great acting and he was believable as the character. R.I.P, Lance. Much loved, admired and missed by us all 😥👌👌🙏🙏🌷🌷❤️💯
@@DannyEverything101 I was hoping it wasn't true either. It's nice you got the chance to interview him, he comes across as really down to earth and simple - RIP Lance!!🙏
Donna, the two part mini series length was 183 minutes - is that the DVD running time you are wanting to find? Can we swing you into buying the bluray, or failing that, I'm sure it is available on streaming services... The hatchet movie edit was under two hours.

One of the best Vampire-movie I ever saw. All actors play amazing-James Mason and his (real)wife fantastic Lew Ayres Lance Kerwin and DavidSoul unforgettable these both Vampire boys amazing and all the others in this movie play great. Top Movie 10/10 Level bottom and especially from my personal side 5 snare drums.🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁. 🎥🎞🎬✌️😜👍🚀🚀…
@@DannyEverything101 Must have been deliberate so that Mark's reactions were more authentic but seeing Reggie in make up must have been amusing at the same time what with the finger nails falling off.
I've said it before and I will always say it. The studios missed a great chance to turn Salem's Lot into a series. With Lance Kerwin and David Soul as the primary stars fighting off vampires as they are being followed. The on screen chemistry between the two very good actors was palpable and believable as well as the audience was routing for them. It's a cinematic shame that it never worked out that way
As a follow-up to *Salem's Lot,* Lance was also cast in a production of Stephen King's *Children of the Corn,* but unfortunately that version of it was never produced.
Hey it could still become a reality now. They are both still alive. A horror suspense film......reuniting them all these years later and we get a back story of what Been and Mark have been up to since that ending scene with Susan in Guatemala or Mexico. And we find out the creepy bloodsuckers are still after them. It would be fantastic and be a big money maker
Hey Danny, how are you doing mate? It looks like there is a flyer of the upcoming SALEMS LOT movie out there. ....I already sent it to Ben Octaviano.....its the Nosferatu look of Barlow my friend!!!
@@DannyEverything101 Thanks for replay me my friend....unfortunaly some people are saying its not a official flyer ...unfortunally....if you have a email adress I will send the picture.

Another great interview, RIP Lance.
Thank you! RIP
Yes, he sounds so much like he did back then.
This was awesome. Kudos to Mr. Kerwin for sharing the treasure trove.
Glad you liked it. I was so lucky he agreed to do the interview.
@@DannyEverything101Was this Lance’s final interview? Blessings to Lance’s wife and children.
i saw Salems a few years back with my late father just him and me watching it , true story i was drinking a cup of tea when the jail scene came up and yes tea went all over when i jumped lol , great memories and i watched Salems just the other night , anyone not seen it make a point of it . great interview this was thankyou for posting it .
That's funny. Many years ago we were watching it and the kids were playing upstairs. My daughter comes in the room exactly at that moment when Barlow pops up. She looked very disturbed.
I loved James Kerwin in Salem's Lot and also James at 15! He's gone too soon!
Gone way too soon.
Rest in peace Lance.
RIP
We're so lucky to be able to access this stuff .
Thank you! I'm so glad I can help make people happy.
I remember when salems lot came on tv.me and some childhood friends couldnt wait to see it.and the walk to school every morning, Salems lot was the topic of conversation....lance kerwin is a great guy and actor..kool intetview.
That's really cool. When I saw it as a kid, I don't remember any of my friends mentioning it. I was alone in my fear, ha ha.
since Lance's death have been watching as much of his film work that i can find. alot of his characters he played i could relate to
Yes, he played his characters well.
Great to find someone who loves Salem's Lot as much as I do... It's my favorite SK book and my favorite movie.
Keep doing videos on it I'll be here.
Glad you enjoyed the interview. It was a privilege to talk to him. I hope you have an awesome time in Hawaii!
Wow,he sounds like he was in James at 15:) Great interview.
Thank you. A lot of people say he sounded the same.
Thank you! I sure hope we get to see it. Right now it's just a guessing game.
Just heard the very sad news of Lance Kerwin’s passing who played Mark Petrie in the original 1979 version
May He Rest In Peace 💔🙏🏿
RIP
RIP BROTHER....I JUST FOUND OUT....I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU !💖💖💖🙏🙏😭😭
I just now read that he passed. And it was from reading the comments on this post. I kept seeing RIP, and I was like whaa?? 😢😳
Glad you liked it. I definitely want to check out his new material. It'll be fun to watch him now as an adult.
I am OBSESSED with this movie n have been since i first watched it in 1987!
TLDR:just found out Lance oassed recently..condolences to his family.x
Thank you. He was a great guy and I'm so happy I got this interview.
That was really really cool. How kind of Lance to give his time, and plenty of it too! He doesn't like to sit still by the looks of it does he? 😂
Like you guys, I loved the movie.
Thank you. I agree with you on all points.
RIP. Like the first time I viewed , seeing that interview filled me w dread for Lance. He was in trouble. A true talent who will be missed, grande.
Well done on this interview. A lot if great info told by Lance. Seen Salems Lot when it first aired in the UK (Scotland). I was blown away by it.
Thanks! Me too!
Glad you had this chance to interview him, he just died.
RIP. I was so glad to get to interview him.
Brilliant interview - Cheers guys
Thank you!
Danny, I was pleasantly surprised to see the person I just happen to have as an online Spanish teacher, also interviewing Lance. It is sad to hear of his passing. It seemed like a "random" news story. I had not idea there would be such a connection to you personally. I guess it is a small world.
It really is a small world. It makes me happy I can help you with learning Spanish as well. Thanks for your comment honoring Lance.
@@DannyEverything101 You're welcome
My favorite Horror movie of all time...Great gig Danny.....BTW.....Those Tamas you have look pretty nice?Same for me in my picture, check out the finish...Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Nice drum kit, and yes, I love the finish on yours! I have been really happy with mine.
RIP Lance Kerwin
RIP
Great interview Danny! Thank you! Would have been better without the shaky cam. No matter though. I hope Lance is doing well. I know he’s had a rough road. God bless him!
Thank you. He seems to be doing well and focusing on being a great dad.
Awesome. Lance was great as Mark. Wondering what’s taking Warner Bros so long to release the trailer for the remake?
I agree Eric. I hope we see the trailer very soon. I can't wait.
Thank you for your kind words. The '79 classic is unbeatable and will always give me that feeling of fear I had as a kid.
Fantastic stuff, always great to see your interviews.
Thank you so much!
Lovely interview with Lance Kerwin aka Mark Petrie from salems lot Danny 😀
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
@@DannyEverything101 thank you for mentioning my name for the fan questions and I'm grateful for lance kerwin to answer the question 🙏 😊
I am sorry to hear that this fine actor has passed away. Rest In Peace 🙏
RIP
Great Movie! Parents were out and brothers sleeping when I came upon this in 1979, I was petrified! LOL
Wow, he sounded the same, but so shocking how he aged, R.I.P.
Yes, a lot of people say his voice had not changed. RIP
One of my favorites movies! :)
Mine too!
Many thanks for this 👍👍👍👍
You're welcome! It was my privilege.
You're right -- during the "staking scene" of Barlow in the cellar, it really looked as though David Soul threw James at 15 pretty hard into that table. I was always afraid Lance Kerwin had been injured there. Good stunt effect.
It sure looks like it would have hurt.
So looking forward to this!!!!!!!!!!!
I just found out that Lance sadly passed away the year after this interview. Such a wonderfully talented actor and he seemed like a genuine and sweet person.
That story about the drunk dude seeing the scary house, had me laughing my ass off. Classic.
I'm so happy I got this interview.
In the UK salems lot was the first time id heard of him
I remembered him from lots of things when I was a kid.
Lance sounds exactly the same since his James at 15 series
Yes he does.
Ya.. seems he's been going thru struggles....great interview!
Thank you!
I agree. May he rest in peace that he may not have found in this life.
HIS VOICE IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHEN HE PLAYED THE CHARACTERS OF MARK IN THE FILM ....I'M BAFLED ! 😱😱💖🙏
True! I've heard a lot of people say that.
@@DannyEverything101 IT A FACT ! 🤔🤔
That's the one thing I did notice is that his voice really hadn't changed that much!
You know how some tones alter with time.
I closed my eyes and heard him recite his school pageant...lol.
Now that you mention that, I can hear it too.
Danny,Great methodical point by point interview!...Maybe u could try and contact Brad Savage again for an interview!..P.S. Great question about the shove into the table in basement scene, I always wanted to ask about that!
Glad you liked the interview. I have sent a message to Brad. He read it but didn't respond so I assumed he's not interested.
Hey, you can actually purchase it on Amazon. I bought it there and that's usually where I watch it. Glad you've seen this version now!
Yes, it was incredibly sad news.
you kept your promise!.. Danny Evans Thanks!👌😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Glad to help!
R.I.P.
RIP. Great guy and great actor.
Much loved, admired and missed by us all 😥👌👌🙏🙏🌷🌷❤️💯
A very sad loss, but so fondly remembered by fans of this movie.
@@DannyEverything101 yes indeed! 😥 👌👌🙏🙏💯
I just read a news article that Lance just passed away.😥
I was hoping it wasn't true, but it's turned out to be a sad day.
@@DannyEverything101 I was hoping it wasn't true either. It's nice you got the chance to interview him, he comes across as really down to earth and simple - RIP Lance!!🙏
Brilliant 👌
Thank you!
I wish I could find an unedited copy of the original on dvd. Every one I’ve seen is chopped up so bad you can’t tell what’s going on.
That would be amazing.
Donna, the two part mini series length was 183 minutes - is that the DVD running time you are wanting to find?
Can we swing you into buying the bluray, or failing that, I'm sure it is available on streaming services...
The hatchet movie edit was under two hours.
Excellent.
Thanks!
Any fan of this movie is my friend
I agree!
@@DannyEverything101 I live on a beach in a large home an really want to get people I know from FB SALEM'S lot fan club to do a night at my home if you on it then you know April an she be one
He reminds me of Michael Rooker....
I can see that.
🎥🎞🎬✌️😜👍🚀🚀…
I agree. So well-done.
If you didn't know his back story you would say he's an addict. I think he was on something here. Its sad, he was a brilliant actor. 😭
You sound the same, Lance. :)
You're right!
I liked Petrie, cause he seemed to have more cojones than any other character in the movie. RIP, Mister, and thank you.
Yes, and Lance played him so well.
Yes!!!
Hope you like it!
Great great interview. I've loved It . By the way i sent you an email. Thank youuuu for this awesome job. 👍👍👍👍
Good interview although I'd like to know more about Reggie Nalder and what he was like on set.
It's interesting that he really didn't see much of Reggie. Strange .
It's a cinematic shame that it never worked out that way
That would have been really interesting to see.
Hey, I’m doing well and I hope you are. Thanks for the heads up. I have not seen that but I will definitely check it out. Thanks.
@@DannyEverything101 Thanks for replay me my friend....unfortunaly some people are saying its not a official flyer ...unfortunally....if you have a email adress I will send the picture.
Will there be a "James at 60" series ?
Ha ha! That would be interesting.
