Olympic Gymnasts take on 'Track Cycling' with Professionals! | Nile Wilson

- I’ve been challenged by The National Lottery to go on the ultimate road trip across the UK with fitness influencer Sophie Brace. We’ll go head-to-head at some of the sports that National Lottery players help fund which feature in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
In today’s vlog, we headed to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, Scotland, to try track cycling with Team Scotland cyclist Lewis Stewart.
Every week, National Lottery players contribute £30 million to good causes and that funding helps our athletes currently competing at Birmingham, as well as grassroots sports in the UK.

I absolutely love this series as I did the Olympic series. I think its incredibly important to highlight these athletes and show some of what it takes to be at their skill level. You just never know some young boy or girl out there watching this now could see this, get inspired, and want to take this on.

I loved the Olympic series and this is great too! Its cool to see how well elite athletes transition into other sports.

Mad props to the guy doing the on track shots (I'm assuming it wasn't Ellis). That was great camera work going that fast around a velodrome.
What a great idea to have the National Lottery to fund so many of your athletes! This was such an informative video, Nile! Great to see your learning curve and getting higher on the track! Awesome job!
I think you can spot the time when Great Britain suddenly started properly funding their athletes due to National Lottery by looking at the medal haul table and compare before/after the funding. Big contrast!
@@jujutrini8412 Coming from Canada, our athletes still have to maintain a job of some sort to keep up the calibre of practice needed. It just makes sense. Thanks for the info!
@@mariearmstrong7718 I mean, there are many British athletes who do have to maintain a job because they are not covered by lottery funding but it’s not like how it used to be which was 100% had to do that.

Yes my home city!!! I’ve been to the velodrome a few times as my dad used to cycle in it. It’s such a nice building. Hope you had a great time ❤️

Love the gymnast try series and highlighting different sports & the amazing atheletes👍🚴♂️ Interesting to learn about funding & how important having a source or funding program is. This was so good! I swore I was subscribed a while ago, like more than a year, but looked & wasn’t. I am “subbed” now tho.

I've done a couple of track sessions and I recommend it 100% to any keen cyclist. It's an absolute BUZZ!

Rollers are brutal, lol. Took me a long time in a doorway to get comfortable on them. Then as Nile had, you end up having laser focus on some random spot on front of you focusing purely on your balance. I still can't really let my guard down trying to ride rollers lol.

I wish my old sport was as cheap as this, my bikes used to cost £50,000 and every now and then they would get smashed to bits, several times a year lol
Leave to a female gymnast to make it to the end of all that and sill have lashes on point for the close up at the end, respect.
Very fun, what I don't understand is why did they fell off the bike when stopping? is the bike really that oversize?
These bikes have no breaks and the wheels are very thin so very hard to balance on
