This crept inside my ears and worked it's way deep down into my soul. I didn't know who these guys were until about ten minutes ago, and about ten minutes ago I began to wonder just what in exactly the hell I've been doing with my life. Such a great find and a reminder to me as to why I love music so FUCKING MUCH.
They put so much detail. This type of music requires quality speakers or some good headphones. Definitely one of my favorite bands. What an amazing summary.
Those are exactly the thoughts I get when I listen to this band, when I think about human potential and the things we have grown to understand over the centuries. If God made this world, he left a lot of secrets in it for us to find - and we've barely even scratched the surface.
Im a very rationally thinking person, but this music makes me question whether there is something greater. I know logically that the answer is no, but the fact there is music that can transcend the rational boundaries of my mind and make me question my very existence is an amazing feat. God is an Astronaut is great music for introspection and just a feeling of one with the cosmos. :)
I lied down on the floor, shut my eyes, and played this song through some really good noise-cancelling headphones. It felt like I was sinking ever deeper into a pool of sound, not noise, but sound. Pure Sound.
Honestly, one of the best songs I've ever come across. Don't know what it is about this particular one but...definitely ranks up in the top 10, if not top 5, for me.
Listened this when on DOM. It was like eternity, full of fractal-oriented lifes inside my mind, when it fact it wass only 5 minutes. It was the longest 5 minutes in my life.
I’ve tried DOM! :) While waiting on the 4 hour come up I was watching 8 simple rules and felt super connected to the emotions the actors were portraying, it was very emotional. Then I had about 6 hours psychedelic trip and the other 10 hours were more amphetamine like jitteriness. Dose was 3mg I believe. Would love to try DOB + DOC. I recommend 2c-e!
Another great find, thanks Pandora (no I'm not an employee, just love the music Pandora leads me to. I usually buy the tracks/albums after hearing them on Pandora, Support the music and artists)
When I first heard GiA I threw everything out of a window (metaphorically) I thought music was. It's highly subjective, but this, THIS is what I think real music is. This music truly emotionally satisfies me, though I'm not an emotional-kind of a guy. So I bow low to the gentlemen who made this astonishing an miracilous music.
OMG this song changed my life, 5 minnit ago if pepel aks if i hav herd the band god is an astronaut i say no but now I can say yes every time. i never again til the day i die hav to say no i hav not heard th band. absolutely life changing
yeah i heard about their gear getting taken, bad buzz alright.going to see them live next month at oxygen festivel next month, cant wait, there class live
those are my top post rock bands aswell! :o these guys are truly amazing. and i notice how u like death metal and i'm into heavy heavy stuff aswell but i love sweet melodic stufff aswell. just thought i'd share that with you haha
I wasn't aware that the Bible said this world is going to be a place of peace. It actually says the opposite on many different occasions. It's a place where Satan is very present as well as pain, suffering, sadness, etc, which it confirms as well...
@NevinJarek Oh noble sir/madam, that was a very sweet reply, thank you. There are civilized people on youtube after all. I was just bored and grumpy and looking for something to rant about lol. You actually took the time to write an intelligent and understanding reply. Cheers! Hey, if you actually got through Wittgenstein i'm humbled. Keep shining your light on the world
I see your point but when you consider that God has infinite wisdom, He will do things that we as human with limited wisdom dont understand. But that is where faith comes in. God has said for us to have faith that He is ultimatly working everything out for a good and loving purpose. And then He gave us a sign of His love when he sent Jesus to suffer a viloent death, this is the "good news" of the gospels.
@ImpendingSerendipity They already do, minimalism is based on the idea that concentrating on a small idea can pronounce itself to a unique level not achievable through raw talent like Beethoven's. Thats why modern musicians usually cant write their own music, because its easier to achieve 'something' but doing a silly thing again and again until it feels spiritual rather than doing a monolith of creativity like they used to. Everyone can experience it, but can everyone say if it was worth?
@vivelavidarocka Post usually means after an event (the opposite being Pre) so, to me anyway, it stands for after rock, or in other words the evolution of. Really it's name doesn't matter does it? The feelings/spiritualism of this type of music speaks for itself.
Even my goosebumps have goosebumps
This and Eye of the Tiger are my go to songs for adrenaline. They keep you in the game. They both pump and amp you up. What a song.
I can't believe I'm just discovering these guys, and this song came out while I was in middle school!
My favorite of their entire discography.

"God is an AstRonaut"
...Perfect name; great song!
Get tons of energy from this music!!! Space rock rules!!!
This is post rock not space rock. Two different things.
Saw them live, one of the best on stage performers🙏🙏🙏
I first discover this song, as a tribute video to the show The Wire. It has since become my favorite workout song. That and Eye of the Tiger.
Surely one of the best bands I' ve listened to the last year...
Whenever I listen to this band, nothing else really matters.
I'm really able to just block out the world, and dream of space.

there is no god. only oblivion, nothing, emptyness, void, nonexistense and that is comforting.

Look at the world around you, the things people go through, all the suffering. Look around you, not just the place you call home. There's your God.
There is something heroic in the song after 4:00 for me
Fills mind and heart...
at first, i thought that the song from GiaA, forever lost was pretty. but this song is pretty too.
i'm fully relaxed now :-D
music perfection touched my ears.
We are like echoes : reverberating in our past and dissolved in our future...

What about Explosions in the Sky?
They're from Texas and are a leading force in the Post Rock genre

Trust me, Your life will never be the same.
Great track!
Well all human beings argue, it's in our nature to do so. Without out argument we can not grow, we can not evolve.
into the other side... just amazing
I listened to this song and it didn't change my life forever, which in itself seems to be a miracle. Still like the song though :)
After 3.20... Flawless...

shit, this band is revolutionizing. I bet if their stuff where introduced to the worldleaders, peace would once again rule the face of the earth
