Never Rizal will give up or look up to Spain ....nakakalungkot that we don't know our history
The truth about Rizal will also reveal the truth about his beloved country

Excerpt from Rizal’s El Filibusterismo: "You ask for equal rights, the Hispanization of your customs, and you don't see that what you are begging for is suicide, the destruction of your nationality, the annihilation of your fatherland, the consecration of tyranny ! What will you be in the future ? A people without character, a nation without liberty - everything you have will be borrowed, even your very defects! You beg for Hispanization, and do not pale with shame when they deny it you!”---Jose Rizal, El Filibusterismo
Few of us know that Rizal wrote what he witnessed: Only few were the Spanish speakers in the Philippines.
"Spanish will never be the general language of the country, the people will never talk it, because the conceptions of their brains and the feelings of their hearts cannot be expressed in that language - each people has its own tongue, as it has its own way of thinking! What are you going to do with Castilian, the few of you who will speak it ? Kill off your own originality, subordinate your thoughts to other brains, and instead of freeing yourselves, make yourselves slaves indeed !” ---Jose Rizal

It should really be understood that veneration without understanding is inevitable for heroes, especially of Rizal's caliber. Rizal has taught people how to think, but not how to think about thinking. He has taught people how to understand, but not how to understand understanding. That was his biggest misgiving, fault, and inconsideration.

Good documentary though the one who acted as Rizal was portraying him as filled with more anger, hatred and darkness. Where he wasn't that kind of person, he was a kind and gentle man but was also very serious but never angry or hateful. He was filled with anguish but wouldn't write in a way that will show how he was angry but how much he was disappointed but optimistic for the future of the Philippines.

One version in history was, when americans invade the nation, it was the time after a long battle for independence against spain. The Americans was showing the country that they will help us out in rebuilding the nation after the long war however, the real deal lies with colonization. Americans were afraid of the Filipinos starting out a revolution again that is why they erase the revolutionists people and pay more attention to heroes like rizal.

Sabagay wala namn akong magagawa opinyon niyo yan eh buhay niyo...

Here is an excerpt of his writing, TEARS AND LAUGHTER. "I do not miss my childhood nor my adolescence, full of golden dreams, they say! I do not sigh for my Motherland, the magic garden of the sirens of the Orient! A child and an adolescent when I was in her bosom, I saw the sun only through my tears; I did not breathe her breezes without a sigh.
Someone has compared his childhood to a stem full of roses and buds; I, too, compare mine to a stem, but a stem full of thorns only.
And notwithstanding, I lived in my native land, in my home, in the midst of the family.
Scarcely did I know my ego. I had teachers, many of whom taught me all their knowledge. Their knowledge was confined to some simple maxims, like these: Spare the rod and spoil the child; children are born bad; and the like.
By dint of spanking they compelled us to learn by heart books in a language we did not understand; in this language they taught us prayers and they made us pray WHOLE HOURS - and we were very sleepy - before the IMAGES which must be tired of seeing our tearful faces.
Then college. Many times the professor, forgetting the lesson, would discourse on our race and our country; and we, trembling before his omnipotence, cowardly swallowed our tears and kept silent.
Later, at the university, despite the fact that the professors did not understand themselves, I understood better the world I was in; there were privileges for some, and laws for others, and certainly not according to merit.
Endowed with physical vigor and thirst for life, one has to drag himself out of a narrow prison when he sees an open field, a vast horizon in the distance, when he hears the vibration high above, when he feels the heart throbbing, and believes he has a right to cherish beautiful ambitions.
Putting on the vizor, I took part in literary contests (his winning piece, El Buen Consejo De Los Dioses) and unfortunately I won; I heard the sound of sincere and enthusiastic applause; but, we revealed our self, and the applause was transformed into coldness, into mockery, into insult, and the defeated one was honored instead!
Victim of a brutal aggression, I demanded justice, believing in it, and I was answered with threats........Note, however, that this time, the guilty was not promoted.
I do not miss my childhood nor my adolescence!
I loved my native country and I fled from her; binding me to the world are only some beings and a home and I abandoned them without bidding them goodbye!!! My country's breezes keep me sighs; in he springs are drops of my tears; on the leaves of her canes, palms, and trees I have written my complaints and my remembrances. She offers me a sweet death and nevertheless, far from all that I love, in a foreign land, among unknown and indifferent people, I do not weep for her, and her outstretched arms frighten me. My eyes are dry and I laugh!
I laugh when I think of her miseries, when I hear the complaints of my brothers, when I see the dark fog that covers her horizon! I laugh when I see my people brutalized and DECEIVED WITH GREAT THEORIES AND DAZZLING WORDS, when I hear the demand of freedom and reason for one, shackles and routine for another, humane laws, fraternity, rights for others, and exceptions for others.
Instead of irritating me, instead of arousing my anger, I raise my eyes to heaven and I pray, "Blessed art Thou God of freemen.........

I'm very thankful for Rizal for all the sacrifices that he did to fight for our motherland. This is the reason why I am ashamed of my generation because most of them don't really appreciate the hardships of our fellow countrymen just to give the freedom they want for us "future generation". They are busy embracing others culture.

Tama yung sinabi ng historian, "He is not just a statue in Luneta."
He's more than being a hero.
Everything said here was educational. The stuff that the historians said lead me to ponder more about Rizal's life.

Natapos na din, all I have to say is we need to emulated Jose Rizal kind, he made more ideals to take of people or everyone to the progress of life of many Filipinos, he give inspiration to Filipinos peoples to be brave as what he made for us, he said that you need to be ready to die in your own self decisions in your life.

Our society at the present is the same society re-created by Rizal in Noli and Fili over a century ago, (which his generation dispelled through the Philippine War of Independence); but eventually reclaimed to haunt us today--through US colonization and dehumanization-which our country went through by dispelling our imagination, dispelling our culture, dispelling our golden age and civilization-thus dispelling our humanity.
Jose Rizal strove to instill imagination, instill culture, instill our humanity through his life and works as our path to liberty. As any artist desires, his aim was not only for our country to endure, but ultimately to prevail.
Rizal`s masterpiece is not just the novels Noli, Fili or his swan song, the poem Mi Ultimo Adios--which are the Foundational Texts of our War of Independence, the first Republic of the Philippines and the US Recognition of Philippine Independence on July 4,1946--but the author of the Republic of the Philippines itself.
His greatest masterpiece will never realize its full manifestation as long as we continue to deny ourselves our imagination, our culture, and our humanity- withheld from us because of colonial mentality-which dehumanized generations of Filipinos, and detached us from our own language, our own culture, and a genuine Philippine civilization which was realized by the generation of Jose Rizal- drawn from our own innate sense of invincibility and genius.

It is not wrong to express ourselves in the language we are most comfortable with but if we are emphasizing apoint of loving one's country and having loyalty to her, I think it would be appropriate to speak in our native tongue. In the manner you wrote it seemed that you abhor the US intervention in our country yet you speak their language. We have benefitted from our knowledge of speaking and writing English, the reason why Filipinos are sought more than any other nationality in the world in terms of job placement.
"Love of country can never be erased once it has entered the heart for it carries with it a divine stamp that is eternal and imperishable." Dr. Jose Rizal
Let us not hate other countries because life becomes deeper, wiser, more meaningful when we learn to share it with others. The foreign colonizations are God ordained, thus making us better Filipinos in the end. If Rizal said, Hail! timid flower I add to that, Bloom Philippines!
