I’m not gonna lie but AD is just a tad bit naive. Homeboy should have been cut off the minute he asked about her looks in the pods. Like that gave you all the answers you needed. And in the vial files interview she talks about how she ignored all the red flags but in this interview, it’s like she is justifying the red flags. I’m puzzled…

If she was white would it be ok to comment honestly on how bad her makeup was , she even admitted on bad it was . Not because we are black doesn’t mean we can’t comment on a bad situation if we see it . We have got to stop using the race card for everything

I think the reason why it’s an issue with “ok body” is because Clay was so focused on looks that it just confirmed how everybody felt that he viewed AD. Clearly, “ok body” wasn’t enough to say ok I DO. That should be an issue with any woman. The edit didn’t over sexualize AD, Clay did.
I can’t believe she went on a date with Matthew after the way he treated her and Amber. I really question whether AD recognizes red flags. I think it’s a wonderful quality to try and see the best in people, but at some point you have to be honest with yourself.

It seems like Amber leads with her body, and finds being sexualised for her body flattering which is.... to each its own. I think the reason why so many black women were upset by this is because socially and historically black women ( especially dark skinned women) are only put on a pedestal when its relating to us being hyper-sexual. So to see AD lean into that category was mostly just sad to watch

I use to have the same experience as AD and I had to go to therapy to figure out why I kept having the same outcome in relationships. Most of the time, it’s an underlying issue we are unaware of. I pray she finds a therapist that can help her get to the core of the experiences. Once I did the work, I attracted my husband. Wish her the best

AD says she's had a history of this same shit...simultaneously not understanding why "Ok body" from Clay in THAT moment was problematic, along with a myriad of other red flags...but WE are overreacting? If you don't get it, though, you simply don't get it. Oversexualization isn't "banter". 😏 Clay is a child and couldn't lead me in a game of hide and seek at a playground. I think she's extremely naive.
She seems like a sweetheart, but she definitely leads with her heart more than her head when it comes to Clay. People unfortunately lie to manipulate romantic partners into giving more than they will receive and based on his praise for her making him better while neither adding any info about how he’s done the same for her is just… I just want better for her. Him crying about losing her doesn’t equate to him being an ideal husband and that’s evident by his behavior afterwards. I'm a little older now so when I see the younger girls stumbling along, struggling with the things I've personally overcome, it gets a little challenging for me. I do understand though, that lessons are learned in it's appropriate time. Being chosen by Clay is no prize, no matter how cute he is. He's still immature and she still has some self worth work to do. It was fairly unentertaining for me to watch because while they should work on paper, it's a 'hell no' in reality.

I thought it was hilarious how black women literally were sticking up for her and how she’s was hyper sexualized, because those of us who are shaped nicely can relate. She was upset that ppl talked about her hair/lashes but didn’t see how much ppl were defending her about the over emphasis of her body. As a black woman she should know, if your hair and lashes look a mess, we’re going to tell you! So, she focused on the superficial things but not the REAL issues that ppl were caping for her about. I always thought/think AD is beautiful n I thought she always looked good. Her point of view of the “okay body” reaction at the altar speaks volumes about what validates her.
I also think this season particularly, some of the couples seemed to be in some kind of agreement about the outcome , good or bad, being a level up opportunity.
I too was defending her for being sexualized during that bean dip nonsense, but then there were so many cringe moments when she hypersexualized herself. I know it's more common now because of social media and needing physical validation from strangers. When I was in college and beyond, voluptuous women and beautiful women didn't lead with those attributes, and those who did were a red flag of insecurities. I love her positive outlook, but her experience on that show proved everything my mom and family taught us.

The comments within the Black Community that bothers me most are the comments that Clay wasn’t attracted to AD because of her dark skin. When did he ever say that or give that indication? The more we feed into black men not being attracted to dark skin black women, the more we contribute to that perception. The darker the berry, the sweeter the juice! We need to take pride in how beautiful black skin is and not contribute to that perception that men don’t prefer dark women. How are men supposed to be attracted to you, if you yourself are putting those negative thoughts on your own self. We need to do better on this subject. For real.
The fact that you are just lumping a whole community together bothers me. Read the room. Do you know how much colorism is embedded in the world and among groups? Your fav celebs are colorist and a large amount look like Clay. Unfortunately this is the case. And the original comment of “when I see red flags I paint my nails to match”. She needs therapy just as much as Clay. She takes some accountability but waters it down with oh yall would’ve done the same too and plenty of other deflections. None of it makes it ok or dissolves her of demanding better. As much as I think she deserves an amazing man because she is beautiful inside and out, she still needs to work on herself (therapy is a start) and I haven’t heard her mention that in any interview as of yet. It was more abundantly clear after she revealed she was willing to date and see where it goes with Matthew after everything, that was crazy to me.

Where her and Clay are sitting down and she talked about her dad passing and how therapy changed her life. She does healthy things like go to the gym as well. It's just she's not able to see when someone's not serious. I had to learn that the hard way. I believe she'll get there because she deserves the world! 🙌

Yes!! She was also very humble and nurturing to Clay (whether he deserved it or not). We as independent women tend to show this tough exterior too often which will push a good man away. Clay was just not ready, but I don't think AD should change for anyone. Her husband will come and accept all that sweetness.

In all seriousness though, I can really relate to AD & that not understanding what goes wrong when you are repeating this particular cycle in the way she has. You wanna blame it all on the men but at the end of the day we all accept what we think we deserve & AD admitted she did not feel deserving of love & that was SO heartbreaking to hear but it answers all the questions. We can't change people we can only change ourselves. It all stems from a lack of self-worth. Once you understand that you're able to work on it. Then you become immune to a pretty, sweet-talking man like Clay. You stop being intrigued by the potential and you start to see how much more you really deserve. When your self-worth is up to par you don't tolerate bullshit and those red flags are no longer appealing to you. I hope she can come to know this ❤️

Love this podcast. The decor and everything was on point. Glad AD got to address a lot in this episode and how fast the love is blind process works. So you go from 11 days of pod dating to about a month or two before your wedding. So yes everything is sped up quickly I completely get it. I hope her and Clayton can give it some time maybe they may rekindle their chemistry in a few months or so. Its good she's staying open to dating so she's not bitter or upset. She handled this with a lot of grace and class.

I agree with most of what you said. We are always held to more scrutiny and standards. We do however make many questionable choices in seeking validation that can make us look like clowns, comic book characters, and an aesthetic that looks more like a performance look for every day attire. We call attention to ourselves in all the wrong ways (we see as self expression) but outside of our hometown or circle our trends appear cringy to those on the outside. I'm rembering many trends that were laughable even in the tiny state I grew up in, once you traveled outside of your county. Whether it was our jewelry, hair styles, nail art, fashion choices, vernacular and slang. We must admit the scope of these things have expanded since social media exploded.
