Just subbed the other day after seeing a review of the Holden LSA SS. It's refreshing to see someone I'd call a 'real' car chick getting views by getting their hands dirty instead of using their looks. Keep it up! Keen to see a follow on for the ceramic coating
So, a serious question, how come people in the Southwest don’t work at night in summer? It’s so much more bearable. When I worked on a farm in Israel we used to start before sunrise and sleep from noon to five, then go back at it until sunset. Worked out really well.
thats the power steering pump Sarah. maybe they disconnected the driveshaft because the carrier bearing went out? not sure if the rear diff is supposed to just free wheel like that, assuming that system uses a magnetic clutch to engage the rear axle it could be normal until the clutch is engaged, probably when the computer senses the front wheels slipping.
the haldex is only active when the front wheels lose traction so what it's doing is normal we have a lot of haldex in the uk its just another clutch system mostly used for fuel economy my guess is the carrier bearing looks like the problem hope this helps.
1.8 T has oil starvation issues. Drop oil pan, and check pickup tube. Also the plastic on chain tensioners can break because of that. Please look into that. I dont think its a sensor. PS. You Rock!!!
I don't give a damn about the progress girl! I'm here because you are beautiful, funny, not afraid of work, and not afraid to be yourself. It takes a lot of guts to lay it all out online. On top of that you work on your own cars and that is amazing these days as I rarely see a woman checking her own oil. Much less doing actual repairs. I think you are definitely one of a kind Sarah. Mr. Dos and Tater Tot are just something to work on. Keep doin what you do!
Hey Sarah another quality video. I had a friend with a TT here in Straya (Australia) who's oil light was permanently on too. His problem was that he used the wrong grade of engine oil and the Audi was super sensitive to oil pressure. We only figured it out after replacing the oil pressure sensor and having the same issue still.
Hey Sarah, I'm sorry to hear about you & Charlie no longer being together. I now understand why you were bummed in your previous video. As another commenter said, onto bigger and better things. You're doing a great job with your cars though, I honestly love all your content (Mr Dos is one I have been following with great interest ever since you started. I am a big fan of your attention to detail). Can't wait to see how things with the TT go as well. I think you've earned my Patreon support. When I get home I'll be adding you to my list of Patreons. Hopefully I can help out a little bit with your projects. I'm down in Australia so my dollaridoos aren't as effective over there but I'll do what I can :) Edit: And now Patreon'd!
Hi Sarah, just one thing with the TT is as you don't know the engine history you might want to change the water pump as they had a problem with going bad and starting to leak, you can get at the water pump from the passage wheel well hope this will help you, keep up the good work Sarah all the best Jim x
Nice job on the headlights. Yeah that all wheel drive setup is gonna be a job. I know how it is to be spread thin on cash for parts! I am happy for any content!
Yikes, that's a ton of work that the TT needs. Great little car, but I've been scared of these ever since I've seen the Wheeler Dealer episode with one. Almost every part is sandwiched in and difficult to get to. Especially hard to deal with all the under car issues without a lift. Very interested in this build.
You can disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and then hook it back up and it will reset the radio without a code... I found this out when my radio went into safe mode and I wasn't able to find a code for it that worked... but I found out that if you just disconnect the battery for 30 minutes it will reset itself.... put some Goo Gone on the Plasti Dip let it sit for Just 2 minutes and simply wipe it off it really is that easy.. Nice work Sarah those headlights look frickin' great!
Sarah you totally inspire me! I just bought a ‘18 Crosstrek, and have never been much into cars until now. I’ve done LED head lights, license plate LEDs, roof rack, and clay-bar/sealant to it so far. Thanks for the videos and hard work! You make my day a bit brighter. Thanks 🤙🚘✌️
YOU can buy a small 2 room portable A/C unit for your garage which works great, run the exhaust hose out and Wala! Cool as a cucumber! They are really not much from Amazon or Home Depot, you spend so much time in there.
I used to work at Volkswagen, I know that some MILs need cleared at a dealer terminal. Audi and VW both like to make you bring in cars for MX. That might help you clear some erroneous fault codes. Careful with those engines though...different beasts from normal engines.
That leaky thing is the P/S pump and yes you're right about the haldex. If its a mechanical haldex, if the driveshaft isnt spinning it wont build pressure to activate the haldex clutches.
Fun to go along with you on this journey. Curious to see what all you do to the TT. And I said it several times already, I just love this channel. You are just so damn adorable Sarah I can't stand it lol.
Those rzeppa style CV joints are pretty easy to take apart, inspect and re-grease. While they are apart you can inspect for damage. Boots should be available from audi for not too much money. I would suggest going that road rather than a new driveshaft because it will save you a boatload of money. I would also see if you can find a factory airbox to go back on it as they work well and flow plenty of air for that engine. The filters are HUGE. An airbox off a fourth generation Jetta/Golf SHOULD work as they use the same platform but FWD. Should be plentiful in junkyards. Hope that helps.
After thinking about it, it makes total sense that you’d want two project cars for content creation. If there is any wait time on parts for a vehicle, you can make content on the other.
It's good to see Mr. Dos again. Hopefully you get him finished fast. Can you use the money from his sale to help finish Teter-Tot? Go back to that dude that had all the A5 parts and cars and see if you can get any leads from him on TT parts.
I just came across this. I called my TT "Tots-tt" when I bought it. It's not the quattro version though. It's really old now but still very reliable and fun to drive. Yeah the trunk is really heavy without the hydraulic props...I was using a pick-axe handle for a while, looked great when I went to do my shopping, hahahahahahaha....!
Seeing you have only 3 cars total....i'm trying to remember how old i was when i had only 3 lol....it's exciting to see Teter Tot progress from the road trip home.
I have a Florida car. Watch the lights assembly for insulation degradation. I replaced mine and found out that they were a fire hazard. That plate above the driveshaft is the shifter box. If the shifts seem to be loose the left-right ball has been compromised. I am sure that you have already checked the shifting assembly on the transmission for damaged rubber mounts.
you are on the right track. get the car put back to stock then fix what is broken. you might have to go to audi for the missing bolts, or try a online audi place to get the bolts.
so glad you gals had no issues ,I don't have that kinda luck, mine is more like what happens on roadkill to freiburger and Finnegan lol. And were all in the same state I reside in one was a 79 Chevy c20 6cylinder damn thing broke down 9 times in 25 miles, just one instance but that didn't bother me half as much as when me and my ex split up I had took my truck out to my uncle's it sat out there 3 weeks until I just decided to move me and my son to momma and dad's, damn truck broke down atleast 5 times still made it the 25 miles but just barely now it has newer tires, alternator, needs another battery, has a newer radiator, and gas tank because it was leaking gas ,awesome project car miss Sarah mam hope you are in good spirits, and find a sense of calm in your time of sorrow, peace be with you ,and your absolutely adorable $!
Hi Sarah. First of all, I wanna applaud you for all the great videos you are making, keep up the good work👏👍. I owned a tt Quattro and wrenched on quite a few of them, made a 300hp+ one as well 😁. Driveshaft spinning free like that is normal because of the Haldex it is only engaged when the car is turned on. You can turn both wheels to check if the diff is making some weird noises. As far as the oil light is concerned, this engines had problems with oil pumps, rod bearing wear, and oil pressure sensors. I would advise you to check the oil pressure it should be around 14psi at idle when warm give or take a few if that checks out it is just a bad sensor 😃 And that thing is actually the power steering pump, not the ac compressor😉 Hope this helps you 😀
I don't want to burst your bubble but you need a plan of attack for the TT. In other words what is the end product going to be. Full race car, weekend racer, flip car, daily driver, time attack, rally cross, drag, road course. Establishing that will help in determining what parts you need what to keep what to scrap what's salvageable what to put up on eBay (extra cash) and basically layout a budget allowance for your end goal and keep from spending on non necessary parts. Hopefully this helps with getting going in the right direction.
That Gplus is an Ebay special part sometimes they are good and sometimes not. Safe mode will be activated anytime power is lost i.e. changing the battery. Most modern cars do that as an anti-theft measure.
Love it...looking forward to both projects!!! This definitely way down the line but I've always liked that glossy gray color of the TT. The body and the wheels would look good color matched.
The garage joke? Oven. :) That random loose hose you grabbed to the left of the intake pipe looks like the kind used in the second air pump system. I've never worked on a 1.8t, my girls got a 2.0t, so I'm not sure how similar they are. Definitely need a vcds reader to work on VWs. I also highly recommend the humble mechanic for vw info, though I'm sure you've already seen his stuff :D
Damn. Have fun with those projects. I'm down to paint and body on my Daytona charger. Doing a full restore on it. Powertrain is all new, plus a few goodies. Meant to be a show car, not a racecar, but we will see after I get a new daily after that. Haha. Been busting ass after work every day, and every weekend for 3 months almost 4 now. Well worth it. You're awesome, by the way, I enjoy your videos!
Fast and Furious rice out the TT!!! But seriously, maybe a nice lip kit for all around, small drop and it would look top! It sucks seeing you so sad, hopefully your out of your funk soon! We're all here cheering for ya ;-)
Sorry to hear that you guys broke up. It's always nice to see gearheads find each other, but nothing in life lasts forever. As for the channel, you and Bubbly Sarah joining forces constantly ends up being a highlight. The TT might sound bad now, but I'm sure you'll find a way if you spread this project across a longer duration and enough fans pitch in. Even ten bucks here and there add up fast.
Sarah check out FCP Euro maybe you can develop a partnership with them. They have a lifetime warranty on all their parts including wear items. As a VW/Audi lover I can't wait to see what you do with the TT.
I just had to put a power steering pump on my Audi. The 3 cap screws on the front suck to get out. Should ditch the intake tube someone out on. Everything I've read says the stock one is better with the stock turbo.
Hey Sarah, send me a list of some of the cosmetic and any interior bits you might need, we have an all Euro junk/salvage yard by me with good prices. Might be able to pick some stuff up and send it on the cheap. Your channel is awesome and I've really enjoyed the content.
Hi from Germany, just some information on some stuff I spotted in the video, the loose hose that comes from the bottom and was flying around on the ugly blue Intake, it,s supposed to be on the OEM airfilter box, or needs at least an mini air filter, you can find them online, it,s part of the coldstart system and provides extra air that leans out the air/fuel mix to hit emission goals, or you can deactivate it and completely remove it. The other one on top could be part of the boost recirculation. The Haldex is normally disengaged and you can spin the back tires freely, btw the Haldex clutch is pretty much the same in all Audi / VW cars and can easily take 1000NM like in the Audi SQ7, according to some Audi engeniers the clutch itself can take up to 3000NM. And please, please get rid of this intake and better replace all of the crankcase breath system parts, they tend to fail frequently.
I'm biased. I had a lot of training that said to keep things oem. That said, please don't lower the tt too much. If you do, stiffen that suspension hard core. Glad you got the Toy back. Hope the MR2 sells for a bunch o'$$.
Gasoline takes plastidip off those difficult spots FYI. I had to do that with my wheels on the daily since I bought them secondhand. Also, did you clear coat the headlights to prevent the oxidation from coming back? If not I recommend adhesion promoter and some 2K Clear. Only a one time use clear coat (use within like 48 hours) so use it with other touch ups if you want to make the most of it.
Sarha please have a look at the TTforum.co.uk lots of advice and guides, there are quite a few things that will most probably need doing to the car, like dropping the sump and changing the dipstick tube etc, etc.
You better put some hoodguard (Transparent bra) on the headlights otherwise they'll just turn yellow again. The reason is that by sanding them you essentially removed the UV protectant and if you don't add a new layer of UV protectant (Transparent bra) they will just go opaque again.
Looks like the haldex system disconnects the driveshaft at the differential. Hopefully it is ok and they only disconnected the drive shaft due to that carrier bearing. Good luck.
Hi Sara you have a bad oil level sensor it is located at the bottom of the oil pan.it is a common problem cost about $65.00 I have owned a lot of Audi's I have been a mechanic a long time. I own an 01 Audi s4 now,if you have any question feel free to ask me. I am sure I can help.I love your video's by the way!
There is a pump on the rear axle that starts through signal from the car's abs when the front wheels begin to lose grip. Then the shaft spins freely when the car is not running. One common problem with these is the breakdown of the pump, but new ones are available on ebay. I have changed both on my TT and an A3
Sarah -n- Tuned Begin by repairing ABS so maybe the four-wheel drive will work again. Good luck! One more thing, when you're looking for a new bumper, look for one from TT 3.2, it's nicer than the original TT 😊
I have the same issue with this breather hose in my friends audi s3. It doesn't want to go into boost and car was idling poor. Next think is the haldex. It's an electronic diff so when your front wheels lose grip then haldex goes in and rear axels will be spinning then. The shaft if I am not mistaken should spinn the same time that the wheels are. You can allsow replace only cv joints ( i hope it's correct name for that) instead of replacing the axle ( it'much cheaper). I hope i help you a little bit and I hope you understand anything because my eanglish is verry poor. I greet you from Poland... I hope i write everythig right 😆
Working on autos is very relaxing. I'm pretty good at guessing people's occupation but I never would have guessed yours. I would have guessed accountant.
I remember something about the haldex on these cars. Its not engaged until the ecu asks for it... Like when you dyno these cars you need to run them in front wheel drive (remove the haldex fuse) otherwise you get up to like 40mph on the dyno and suddenly it tries to engage rwd 😳
Im just mindblown about how the previous owner(s) broke the car in so many places. Then again it makes a nice series of videos to see a real change in such a beat up car. I'd just wish the TT wouldn't be so damn heavy for being a sportyish car.
There's an oil sensor on the oil pan by the drain plug, my Audi A4 gave me the same notification on my Dash as you have and all I had to do is replace it, it's three Allen key bolt and a plug but you probably have to drain the oil that's what I did
If you keep it stock won't be that expensive, you might even get your money back, if you wanna make a 400hp you got 10k at least to go. Im at 300 at the crank spent 2.5k on the engine, Down pipe Catless, Unitronic stage 2, on a 93 tune for my car 21 psi, also spent about 1000 on lowering springs and Bilstiens b6's which made a world of difference.
I love all your video. I'm looking forward to both projects they're going to be nice when you're done thanks for all your hard work great job. AND nice job on TFL!!!!
Glad you're keeping busy. You have an uplifting personality, don't ever lose that! Love the content keep on motoring girl!
How you drove this car home without blowing up is beyond me. Can’t wait to see the next update.
I'm really excited to watch the progress of this project because there's so much wrong with that poor little car
Just subbed the other day after seeing a review of the Holden LSA SS. It's refreshing to see someone I'd call a 'real' car chick getting views by getting their hands dirty instead of using their looks. Keep it up! Keen to see a follow on for the ceramic coating

Sarah I had an 04 Quattro and have some parts. I’ll get a list and send you the ones you would like. Good luck with this project. I still miss my tt.
yup...fantastic job on the headlight restoration :D
Hey Sarah another quality video.

Hi Sarah, just one thing with the TT is as you don't know the engine history you might want to change the water pump as they had a problem with going bad and starting to leak, you can get at the water pump from the passage wheel well hope this will help you, keep up the good work Sarah all the best Jim x
Your a trooper sarah. Respect! Big time. So driven and just so independent. Your a rare gem in my opinion. Xo
And the project begins! Super glad you got Mr Dos back too!
Nice job on the headlights. Yeah that all wheel drive setup is gonna be a job. I know how it is to be spread thin on cash for parts! I am happy for any content!
I really enjoy your videos. It’s nice seeing a woman getting her hands dirty doing what they love. Keep up the great videos.
From an OG, first 2k sub... I hope you feel better Sarah. I've been there, staying busy helps.
Heck yes! Gotta love Sarah. Been here since what... 500ish subs? :D
Yikes, that's a ton of work that the TT needs. Great little car, but I've been scared of these ever since I've seen the Wheeler Dealer episode with one. Nice work Sarah those headlights look frickin' great!
Came back here because my head gasket blew off my Audi TT, wanted to remind myself how hard you had to work starting from this point! #Respect 😎🔥💯🏆🔧
Ms Sara, when you get a chance, look up FCP EURO. Prices are very cheap and lifetime warranty on all OEM parts . Hope that helps out.
Thanks 🤙🚘✌️
Sarah your very good worker and love the detail you put in work ,love you .have good day .
YOU can buy a small 2 room portable A/C unit for your garage which works great, run the exhaust hose out and Wala! Cool as a cucumber!
They are really not much from Amazon or Home Depot, you spend so much time in there.

Highly Caffeinated E.A.G.L.E.S. !!
Love your videos. Sorry about Charlie but his loss. Stay positive.
One of my favorite TH-cam channels, hope you get soo many subscribers just to keep making project car videos.
I actually love the idea of the back and forth videos of the project cars.
Sarah, your editing skills are top notch!
Wow are you brave,..another Audi! You sure have a challenge on your hands. This will be interesting. Good luck!

In the UK those wheels were called 'Competition' and where a mega expensive option. Looked great polished though.
After thinking about it, it makes total sense that you’d want two project cars for content creation. If there is any wait time on parts for a vehicle, you can make content on the other.
Holy Headlights! They look better than new. Nice work, Sarah!

Subscribed on Patreon. Unfortunately I know nothing about Audis but appreciate the channel content!
on the wheels just wet sand and Polish them up like you did to the headlights, that's what we do with aluminum semi wheels

Check Uro parts for bolts and things, pretty inexpensive and will do the job.
Wow that car is messed up. I don't know how you made it back to Tucson. Great video as always. Looking forward to seeing more.
A ++ on the headlights. They came out awesome
Sometimes they disconnect the driveshaft on AWD cars so they can use a car dolly instead of a trailer. Hope that's the case.
Hi Sarah.
First of all, I wanna applaud you for all the great videos you are making, keep up the good work👏👍.
I owned a tt Quattro and wrenched on quite a few of them, made a 300hp+ one as well 😁.

Frankie M Once I get the car put back to original condition, I want to make it into a sleeper that I can take on road trips.
That Gplus is an Ebay special part sometimes they are good and sometimes not. Safe mode will be activated anytime power is lost i.e. changing the battery. Most modern cars do that as an anti-theft measure.
I really wish my wife has half the mechanical knowledge as you do that so cool and such a refresher from some other girls

New to the channel and can’t stop watching, you ladies are adorable 😍
that TT is a perfect project for you, I am sure it will be awesome when you are finished with it.
Fast and Furious rice out the TT!!! But seriously, maybe a nice lip kit for all around, small drop and it would look top!

24 cents at rockauto, it could also be oil pressure switch on filter housing
I was waiting on this video. Progress is always fun. Keep up the great work

Still amazed this car drove 12hrs home!!! Post your parts list Sarah!!! What year is this thing?
Looks like the haldex system disconnects the driveshaft at the differential. Hopefully it is ok and they only disconnected the drive shaft due to that carrier bearing. Good luck.
Holy vacuum leaks batman! Amazing that car ran the whole way down for you. Great you got Mr Dos back as well. Have fun cat farming...
Hi Sara you have a bad oil level sensor it is located at the bottom of the oil pan.it is a common problem cost about $65.00
I have owned a lot of Audi's I have been a mechanic a long time. I own an 01 Audi s4 now,if you have any question feel free to ask me. I am sure I can help.I love your video's by the way!
Welcome back _Mr Dos_ *:)*
I hope you made the best of your time away.
There is a pump on the rear axle that starts through signal from the car's abs when the front wheels begin to lose grip. Then the shaft spins freely when the car is not running. One common problem with these is the breakdown of the pump, but new ones are available on ebay. I have changed both on my TT and an A3
John Fahlström thank you so much! The abs light is on and I have a code for it as well.
Sarah -n- Tuned Begin by repairing ABS so maybe the four-wheel drive will work again. Good luck! One more thing, when you're looking for a new bumper, look for one from TT 3.2, it's nicer than the original TT 😊
Nice fancy Beetle. Dieselgeek has the best short shifter
I hope i write everythig right 😆
Oh I'm bummed you and Charlie are not together. Hopefully you're doing ok. On to bigger and better things!
Me too... It's kinda up and down now. Oh well, such is life.
I totally get it. I have a "Charlie" in my life too. I love him, but he breaks my heart constantly. I hope you figure out what's best for you.
who lets go of a unicorn...jeeeez .. ;-)
Aww i kinda figured that's why u where bummed out in the last couple videos. It's life though thanks for being positive it's inspirational for us all.
got to love the AZ summers!
Because you like to name everything (I do the same thing), you should call your garage 'Sarah's Sanctuary'!
Amazing job on those lights. Put a sponse link with your channel. Its like a super chat but the give you money monthly
Sorry about you and Charlie, but you have almost 70k subs that love you!
Working on autos is very relaxing. I'm pretty good at guessing people's occupation but I never would have guessed yours.
I would have guessed accountant.
JourneyTotheTruthandTotalRandomness I got straight A’s in accounting actually 😋
I say you find the c.l. add in New River and see if you can get some parts from him.
There's an oil sensor on the oil pan by the drain plug, my Audi A4 gave me the same notification on my Dash as you have and all I had to do is replace it, it's three Allen key bolt and a plug but you probably have to drain the oil that's what I did
Look super cute in this one idk what it was lol but damn those headlights came out sooo good!!
Keep it up Sarah, your awesome.
