  • Another fun project for Goose Feathers, an awesome local boutique that we love! Here are the main materials I used for this project:
    DIY Chalk Paint, from Debbie's Design Diary
    Fusion Mineral Paint
    Fabric Medium (I used two brands with no noticeable difference)
    Chunky Yarn
    Hot Glue
    Sandpaper

    Oh no!!! You painted the wood… I mean, it’s yours and this is only my opinion but they don’t make that kind of furniture anymore. I’m just a little shocked is all. But you are creative.

    Why that trim?

    • @makewithblake
      @makewithblake  ปีที่แล้ว

      🤣🤣🤣🤣 The original trim was falling apart and we needed to add something that was a reasonable price and added a little bit of an eclectic flair. This boutique had a colorful boho vibe and it fit great in there

    I have a lot of these same Victorian rose back couches, chairs, marble tables and coffee tables. When you paint any thing that is antique you take away the value of your furniture. Best way is to have the fabric upholstery. Thank you.

    I truly admire your patience with this project, it was worth it and I hope (if it's your intention to sell it) you get a good price for all your talent and work. Will subscribe and keep an interested eye on your creations! You inspire me to get off my ass and start a project, this covid lockdown is doing my head in now, thanks for your video.

      Thank you so much, Louise!
      I'm right there with you, the covid lockdown is basically what lead me to prioritize so many new projects!

    Suggest Annie Sloane chalk paint

    Thank you for this fantastic idea! Do you know if this same thing can be done on a velour or faux "velvet" couch? I have a terribly '70's victorian replica in great shape but the blue and orange flowers are unforgivable. Can a high, thick pile like that be painted in this manner? Thank you again!

      I'm not 100% sure because I haven't tried it myself but theres a channel that tried it and it looked good! I want to say Debi's Design Diary did a video doing that kind of fabric?
      Thanks for watching!

    I just wanted to add that after thinking about this for a while you inspired me to paint an old chair that’s been in my family for decades. It’s been recovered at least 4 times I know of, it kind of looks like a thrown haha, but it’s “gold) and I can’t decide what color to go with, any suggestions?

      Hahaha how the tables turn! I totally get it, I was hesitant at first and it stressed me out just considering what to do. I consider the paint on this to just be another layer I'll have to take off when I'm ready to take it down to the wood and springs!
      My favorites are darker fabrics, but that may be because we have two black dogs that shed. My dream is to recover this set in a mossy green velvet-like fabric now that I have all the pieces back.

    painted a couch with black chalk paint, do you think i could put red over it later on? or would it be too dark

    • @makewithblake
      @makewithblake  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends on the brand! The black will be the hardest color to cover up, but some of these paints have so much pigment it might still work out fine! I really want to redo this one this fall!

      @@makewithblake what are ur brand recs? using ur vid as my bible btw love it

      @makewithblake  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aw! Thanks! I think my favorite of these had to be the debi's design diary paint, Ive tried the chalk paint from walmart and it wasn't quite as pigmented! As for the fabric medium, those seem to all be the same!

      They both gave me the same result! My guess is they are probably the exact same product, just with different labels!

    Does the paint stay on- or is this just to look at? Is this kid and animal friendly paint ?- lol

    • @makewithblake
      @makewithblake  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's stayed put this far! This was in a local boutique with people sitting on it almost every day, and there was even a dog the owner brought in with her that loved to sit on it too. I never noticed any wear to the paint/fabric itself!

    The chalk paint ruins it!! Why not just redo the fabric and keep the beautiful wood the way it is.

      Everything I did can be undone when I'm ready. It was a makeover for a retail store to fit their style. 🙄

      Hahaha I'm hoping to properly redo this set soon, this was just for a friend's boutique that had a very eclectic colorful boho vibe. I vision it with a mossy velvet fabric though!
