Do you have to be in rotation position when the other team is serving or did you say you can be at base. Also I thought the back row can't go into front row or switch with the front. Do you always have to keep in mind where you are in rotating position.
Both teams need to be in rotational order prior to service contact. Once the ball is contacted, they can move anywhere on the court. Front row players may attack the ball from anywhere on the court. Back row players can attack from behind the 10 foot/3 meter line. Attack means contacting a ball that is completely above the plane of the top of the net. Back row players can move anywhere but cannot block or attack as described above. There are further restrictions on libero players. They may not attack a ball above the plane of the net anywhere. If they set a ball using "finger action" (an overhand setting motion) and they are in front of the 10 foot line, the person they set cannot attack the ball above the plane of the net. I don't know if you are using a libero, but keep this in mind.
I use an app on iPad called CoachNote Volleyball+ for the chart. I use either ScreenFlow or Ecamm Live Pro for capturing the commentary and my camera. None of them are free, but you could probably find some inexpensive software to duplicate the effect.
