My old dad was there at Dunton Green the day they locked out Westerham, signals barred and the points clipped and padlocked, I remember in the 1970's rambling along the whole line with my grandparents and such a shame as this would have been ideal for the proposed "outer ring" orbital railway that is now being suggested to connect the home counties.
I was there on the last day. The problem was, as far as I remember, that the line latterly only operated during the "rush hours"; I'd visited Westerham station a few times beforehand as a nipper, having travelled from Reigate on an RLH bus, but nothing was operating and it was empty.
You got a lot of good shots of the line and it's train. What a pity you seem not to have had the equipment with which to edit them into a logical order.

Not to sure but the Chippy in Dunton Green was Watson's ,I used to ramble the old line too not far from Chipstead lake.

After 1955 it only operated in the rush hours during the week and all day on Saturday.
My dad lived in Westerham near railway
The line is mostly buried under the M25 now.
Why is it when a branch closes are are more people than the ling saw in a year-where were they pre Dr Beeching?
