I've seen Neil 7 times in all phases of his music...his rock shows with Booker T and the MG's, with Crazy Horse, country show with Waylon Jennings, Trans show, Rock a Billy show, and completely by himself and I never heard him play a song from the On the Beach album...my favorite album.
Thanks for posting. I was in the audience that night. Sorry I interfered with the performance by shouting "Thank you" at 00:53 but I had requested the song at the meet and greets the previous weeks in NYC and Akron, Oh. and was thrilled to hear this tune performed live. 1st time performed live since July 27, 1975 in Berkley, Ca.
sorry but that's insane i know this has been 3 years but like meeting people at meet n greets who he feels he can't connect with is like what this fkin song is about and by asking him to play it you made both the act of playing the song and the subject of the song happen i'm sure he did not want to play it especially if he hadn't played it in 24 years. WOW anyway this song rules
This is such a great song. Boz Scaggs has it on his latest album -- the song has a timeless meaning. Neil Young is a master. Thanks for posting this wonderful performance.
A true living legend, his '70s output, starting with '69s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, right through to Rust Never Sleeps, will go down in history, Neil at his peak,he never put a foot wrong in that era,a genuine Songwriting Genius,I know he's made some good albums since his great '70s output, but not as good or consistent,he is part of pop/Rock history,a real Legend. Thanks Neil. ✌️
Any chance of picking me up if your passing my way lol went to see Neil when he came to Ireland 3 weeks ago with Promise of the Real and Bob Dylan Neil was great his voice still sounds great last seen Neil before that back in 93 great day Van Morrison was playing the same day all the best mate I think il get out of town
What a ridiculous statement. Concerts in Europe people applaud loud and scream as well. It’s surreal seeing your favorite artist and that’s how you show love.
I was at this concert . Super show. . Neil is a unique oerson . This concertwas fantastic . One of the best .. We love you Mr Neil. ❤❤❤

The Booker T tour was really special

Charles Naughton well we owe you a thank you!
Yes. A big Thank You to Charles.
I love the "thank you." Among my very favorite Neil songs. I've often listened to it 20 times in a row.

How about Kurt playing this song I Need a crowd of people but I can't face them everyday
Wow, to have captured this...One of the very few acoustic versions (I think a couple in the 70's and two more since) good audience quality.
I cant thank you enough. 32 yrs old and still listen to this song and it
puts my life in perspective. One of the reasons I'm still here.
Folks, this is a masterclass in songwriting and soulful harmonica accompaniment.
Good Song!
A dedicated Neil giving 3 times the value in this song. Harmonica, Guitar, and singing🙂 Wonderful

Deep connection to soul music.
Love that Taylor , one magnificent guitar
Neil kicks ass, best song of 74

My favorite track from my favorite album of neil...Thanks for asking...this is fantastic !
Di una bellezza commovente
Was at this show at the Rosemont Theatre...great venue, no longer there.
Very lucky crowd
Thank you for posting! Been trying to figure out how Neil plays this for a while, and this footage was invaluable to that end.
WICKED AWESOME NEIL
What a performance.
GREATEST SONG! LOVE
Brilliant, simple chords. Neil gets to the point in a poignant, weird way. "On the Beach" is an amazing jag. Buddy Holly takes a submarine trip...
J'adore ta musique long vie
a real waking dream
Classic Neil.
|First time seeing Neil play a 12 string. I knew he had a Taylor who made him one though
1978 Taylor 855 -Neil owns 2 - played 1st on the Comes a Time album and the Rust Never Sleeps tour. Check out the concert film.
Think I’ll get out of town, on my fjr1300, by myself...

guess he forgot the chords but it still sounds great
Jamming bro, pure soul.

The Nick Cave song Higgs Boson Blues sounds very similar. Definitely influenced him th-cam.com/video/m0OWmE3_rJg/w-d-xo.html
whaddysay?
Why do american audiences always have to yell and scream when people are performing?
"Its me, me, me! I know this song!"
That's just the way most AMERICANS are sadly it has to be all about them

@@jacoblandman7345 European audiences wait til the song is over to show their appreciation.
@@deankinsella8250 How civilized.
What Key for harmonica does he use ?
Love you Neil but not a patch on the album version ...harmonica doesn't help either .....
It's his song, he wrote it, he can play it however the fuck he wants.
