80s come back, please come back! they should have national 80s day, or week, or month, everything 80s!! 80s music, tv, 80s FOOD & fashion, the world would be a better place
Very underrated. I remember this song getting a fair amount of air play. EG Daily was also in Valley Girl, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and the voice of Tommy on The Rugrats.
What is also so interesting about E.G..... She had a relationship with Brad Pitt right before he blew up into a major star! I adore her, such a cutie and a lovely person in every way.. Cool Video, song , evrything! Beautiful voice, underated as a singer and actress! She was "Dottie" in Pee Wee's Big Adventure, was a major contributor to the Scarface soundrack, did awesome voiceover work and of course her unforgettable role in Valley Girls! SHE'S'SO COOL!
I have been searching for this song for over 11 yrs. I couldn't remember the name of the song or who's song was it. All I remember was her raspy cute voice. I can't believe I found it, I'm so happy and relieved!🥰🤗🤗
Another Stephen Bray produced banger! Along with Madonna's "Into The Groove", Regina's "Baby Love", Breakfast Club's (which he was a member of) "Right on Track"...among just a few. 😎
Not just top 10, but according to her IMDB page, it was actually #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club chart! She also had 2 other top 10s on that chart with "Love in the Shadows" at #6, and "Mind Over Matter" at #7. As well as "Some People" at #33.
I love this classic 80's tune and retro black and white video. E.G. Daily, the very funny Louisa Moritz and the tenant with his exaggerated snooty accent all have great chemistry together. I love how he winces and how he can't hold back his feelings whenever he's near E.G. and Louisa Moritz is hilarious when she's showing off the house: "that's my garden, those are my camelias, those are my azaleas oh and that's my daugther!" LOL.
I remember this song from the 80s but I have never seen this video until now. It's hysterically inappropriate 😂😂and it could never be made these days! Thank you 80s for leaving us the most amazing yet cringe-worthy videos. I wouldn't have it any other way lol
I love E.G! I loved her since I saw Valley Girl! I use to have this album. I hope she is finally going to get recognized for her singing abilities rather than her acting. She has such a unique voice!
this song has Stephen bray written all over ... that sound is undeniable -- this and regina's baby love sound very similar to any other madonna track from this same time period
Asilts Christine Cavenaugh Kath Soucie Cheryl Chase & Tara Strong should of been Singers too just like E.G Daily too bad Christine Cavenaugh passed away in 2014 she was very good at acting
Man I'm 48 years old I remember watching them on TV with my kids and I still watch it sometimes on TV the Tommy Pickles looks very good for her age I love her
she still gorgeous!!! saw her on the voice 2nite 2. catchy tune. this song reminds me of madonna back in the day!!! i love eg's voice & she has a great look 2. awesome that her kids were there!!
How was this not a huge smash? I still remember being utterly shocked when it wasn't. As much as I love the video it might have benefited from some singing/dancing cutaways - it might have been a little too arty for 1986 tastes. Anyone who hasn't dug out the parent album should do so. Wild Child is full of single-worthy tracks - and Daily co-wrote most of them. Follow up single Love In the Shadows should have been another huge smash but Just For You, her Sunset People cover, and especially the title track would have been great to hear on the radio back then.
It was a hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Charts matter fact it was #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart but unfortunately it only climbed to #70 on the Hot 100 charts
The hit Madonna never had! Imagine how huge this song would have been in 1986 at the height of Madonna’s chart rule. It’s clearly influenced and inspired by her
3:58 Tommy Pickles actually existed about 5 years before any of us knew, apparently. 🤷 I love E.G. Daily, she's amazing. every song from this album was A+.
I falled in love with this song when i was 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it hasn't aged! it 's still one of the best song i've never heard.... E.G. was so beautifull. A real pleasure to see her again. I can't stop listening to her. :-)
I can't believe that is Dottie the bicycle mechanic from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. If she asked me to the drive-in, I would've went with no questions asked. Damn she's fine...
Just so you people know, inspite of E.G. Daily's hit records, she is also best known for providing voices of cartoons mainly Tommy Pickles from the Rugrats.
Very few plays on the 80s TV music program DEEJAY TELEVISION were enough to grab on my attention! Haven't heard it in almost 4 decades but still recognisably vivid in my mind, every single note. Too bad she didn't get the deserved recognition.
I just watched some Madonna vids and she kinda had that EG rasp in her voice on some higher notes when shed kinda scream and I thought it was prtty funny. EG is awesome!!

What a great and interesting music video concept. Based on the classic 1960’s movie, “Lolita”. This song was a No. 1 U.S. Hot Dance Club Play Hit, But surprisingly stalled at just No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song was sadly E.G.’s one and only Hot 100 Chart entry in her entire music career. Bummer.
I know her very well from movies 🎬 but i never heard of this song.. she deserves a lot more credit for everything that she has done.. i can't believe that this was 86.. i remember it like it was yesterday 😢😊
oh I always wanted this chick growing up but now she looks like the mom and I look like the old guy. what kills me is that this is the first time I saw this video, elizabeth daily always rocked.
I’m really surprised she didn’t have a major successful singing career. She has a really distinctive voice!
It tanked after Jon Erik Hexum's tragic death.
Me too and she had a great look and good videos that have aged well. I’m glad she found success with The Rugrats
It sounds like she was a big fan of Madonna.
She did try to make a comeback on The Voice a few years ago.
Style of music reminds me of artists like Tiffany, Expose, Bananarama, etc.
That guitar solo is killer.🔥🔥👍🏾
Same. I love it.
She keeps going back and forth between her Tommy and Buttercup voices.
Was the latter her "Valley Girl" character?
@@drummingdanny84I think buttercup was her powerpuff girls character.
I’m imagining Buttercup singing this to Butch. 🤭
Omg so underrated !! Love her voice
Her voice is insane. Like on the same level as Stevie Nicks, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar and all the other iconic 80's female singers.
Hmm...i hear Tiffany...
she hit a whistle note during her righteous apples days, insane range
Would have to disagree with you big time.
@@jaceycarlos definitely
I can’t believe it’s Tommy Pickles 😅
Love her raspy voice.
Sexy
Sounds like she is singing in her Buttercup voice.
Close your eyes and hear tommy pickels lmao

This was a No. 1 Billboard dance hit in May 1986.
I was lucky to get to work with her a few times back when I used to do voice over directing. She's a very talented lady and such a cool person.
One of the most underrated voices of those golden 80's. Never really got off the ground like it should have, the video keeps me coming back #2022
Madonna pretty much cannibalized the careers of EG Daily and Cyndi Lauper.
@@RichV20 Have to disagree with your Lauper slight she lives on the radio in the tri-state

There was a national 80's decade, but that ended 34 years ago.
Very underrated. I remember this song getting a fair amount of air play. EG Daily was also in Valley Girl, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and the voice of Tommy on The Rugrats.
I heard it playing on Walmart Radio once, too, along with the Beatles' "I Feel Fine" and "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5ive.
And Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls.
Don't forget better off dead !!!!!
I remember her from The Righteous Apples TV series.
And she sang the theme to Two and Half Men
What is also so interesting about E.G..... She had a relationship with Brad Pitt right before he blew up into a major star! I adore her, such a cutie and a lovely person in every way.. Probably hadn't heard this song in 30 years! It's timeless. She was awesome.

I love the 'Lolita' reference 🥰

One of the best James Mason voice impressions I've ever heard.
I thought it was him when I first saw the video back in 85' !
I don't get it
@@HuCuRuS Don´t you agree it's a great impression? Sounds just like him. His real name is Edson Stroll.

Close- it was produced by Jellybean who did alot of work for Madonna as well
written by Stephen Bray as were most of Madonna's biggest hits
One of my favorite songs of 85' hard to believe it only made to #70 ! but it was a Top Ten Hit in the clubs charts I would bet!
It received a lot of airplay on dance and urban formatted radio, but flew completely under the pop/top 40 radar!
Only 70!? What. I remember this song was played allot on the radio in the Bay Area when I was a teen. And the video.
Not just top 10, but according to her IMDB page, it was actually #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club chart! She also had 2 other top 10s on that chart with "Love in the Shadows" at #6, and "Mind Over Matter" at #7. As well as "Some People" at #33.
Mind over matter was featured in the 1987 movie 'Summer School'
