I just realized that this is the most "how do you do, fellow kids" album to ever be released by a major record label.
It’s better than most major record label songs that are about drugs or the 30 exes the “artist” has

The issue with the song is it tries to do the absolute bare minimum to differentiate itself from those albums by making it about boring mediocre dudes and using awful annoying quirky samples. Then it expects us to be impressed and astounded and relate to what is essentially a glitter coat of paint over some completely normal ass boring pop songs with identical structure to the "exes and drugs lmao" pop songs.

Honestly this video is a pain to watch. I tried but not based on what he said, but it’s just so stressful like even if I haven’t ever heard of ajr. Also it’s not his opinions, it’s just the way he’s presenting it which I don’t like. It’s my opinion, but I’m not trying to change yours.

This is Mark’s most iconic moment that I’ve seen on his channel when it comes to album reviews. It is one of the most awe inspiring things I’ve ever seen. It almost makes me want to go listen to the album just to see if it lives up to the hate. But my depression is bad enough. I will spare myself.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who noticed that the melody of "Netflix Trip" sounded suspiciously similar to "Human" by Jon Bellion
well Hand Of God sounds suspiciously similar to Overture on AJR’s first album, which came out first.
lol okay, I'm gonna say this right now: I enjoy both bands quite a bit. AJR has problems, but I really do respect them and enjoy the majority of their songs. But their original Overture (nor their new Overture) don't SOUND anything like Hand of God. The IDEA of mashing most of the songs on the album into a piece was similar, sure. But this is not a new idea in the lightest sense. A traditional Overture was mainly used in classical music at first (I believe) where it served as a prelude to the show. It, too, combined several of the ideas of the upcoming music into a single piece. My point here is that there's a difference between using a trope that's been in music for several centuries and blatantly ripping off a melody that's used in about a third of a song

I don't understand why so many people hate AJR. While Panic at the Disco makes really good songs, and Brendon Urie is one of the most likeable celebrities of all time, they make music for a specific niche, so I can understand people not liking them. But there's nothing to hate about AJR. Their songs are good, they're incredibly likeable people, and they have a nice, relaxing vibe about them.

This review stands as one of the best - if not the best dismantling of any record yet. The vocabulary used + the roasts (see the glee fan-fiction one) are incredible. LOVE IT

When I saw the 21-minute run-time, the flames around the thumbnail, and the description, I nearly went and grabbed some popcorn. And this review definitely didn't disappoint. As much as I feel for you that you had to listen to this album enough to review it, I think the end result is one of your most entertaining reviews ever.
I would say I hope the next album you cover isn't so painful for you to listen to, but I don't think it's possible for that to NOT happen.

Still an amazing review. Absolutely love this because it sums up how I feel about this album. I hate how the writing embodies people who don’t care about anything in their life, I hate the autotune scat breakdowns throughout the album, and I hate their somehow vocal fanbase. I’ve seen interviews of the group and they’re definitely good people. I just wish they’d make better music

I totally forgot they even charted
Basically what happened was that on his Patreon schedule, there were a large build up of albums that weren't rising up the schedule, so we were allowed to mark them "short' if they didn't seem like they'd be covered up the schedule, to help clear it up and make sure our requests were heard, even if not in the full format.
AJR was marked "short" but... it did not end up being a short analysis, as we can see.
