I like Ballin-out jigs by swindle. I also use a GenX FlashX swimjig that is a top spin. I can skip it well with the right trailer. I will use an arkie in the weeds, and skip under trees, and a oval football with a recessed line tie, that has a quality skirt, and hook for laydowns, and in rocky situations...

To save a couple bucks here and there. Dobyns makes some really good football jigs no one really mentions, at about $3.70 a piece if you get the 3 packs, double skirted material and 2 different styles of gamakatsu hooks. Dobyns also makes weedless swimbait jigs heads that I put a skirt on, the weedguard isn't as stiff as some might like but it does really well as a swimjig at about $3.50 after adding a skirt. War eagle has the heavy finesse ball head jigs at about 3.50 a jig.

Great explanations. Much appreciated. I need to improve my jig game. Lots of grass and submerged vegetation here in FL and most anglers won't fish jigs, so I figure I'll be showing the bass a bait they don't see a lot. 👍

Glad to see the sapphire blue making a comeback the last couple years. My first memory of that color was in the early 90's at Lake Fairfield. Me and my Dad took his old fishing buddy out that day and he pulled out a old Manns Jelly Worm in Blueberry color and flavor. Me being a high school bass fishing know it all I kinda laughed but he put on a show that day with that blue worm. That might have been the first time someone in the back of the boat kicked my rear end but I learned from it and have been a believer in blue ever since.

Just a great list! I absolutely love a swim jig! I like ones with a wedge-shaped head like the 6th Sense swim jig or the Hack Attack swim jig. They skip very well and skipping a swim jig under a dock or even under brush has gotten me so many bites! And I threw a football jig today! I'm simple, when I see rip rap, I throw a football jig. Black and red today because it was stained water. Jigs take me to my happy place!
My wife tells me I have too many jigs and I told her that's just like Santa Claus and she shot me a strange look and said, "what are you talking about?"
I said "Too many jigs is just like Santa Claus. It's made up. It's not a real thing."
I think she's still mad at me...

As usual, another masterpiece fishing video. Thank you Matt. I was wondering if you considered this (this is based another of your great videos explaining difference between powerbait and gulp): use a Berkley Powerbait Jig (the skirt itself is made from Powerbait) with a Gulp grub trailer. The trailer disperses scent and when they chomp down on the jig, you have the Powerbait skirt for taste. Too much? Conflicting baits? Thanks.

Another good one Matt! Great recovery in the middle too 😅! Curious what type of line (flouro, braid, or combo leader) you fish these jigs on for shallow and deep situations and how much water clarity plays a role in your decision? Good luck this week on Clark's Hill!

  • @jasonrutherfordbassfishing
    @jasonrutherfordbassfishing ปีที่แล้ว +1

Electric blue generates massive bites, I’d be interested to know just what the bass think they’re eating but any green/blue, black/blue color can always be counted on to get bit!

Very informative as always. I picked up a pack of the deal trailers to use on a chatterbait. I never thought about using them for a swim jig trailer. Do you rig them with the tail vertical, or horizontal, or both? On the chatterbait I will rig in the vertical position.

3/16oz ballhead in green pumpkin with junebug accent
5/8oz ballhead, same color as above.
3/8 oz black and blue arky head
3/4 oz Okeechobee craw arky head
1 oz football head in PB&J
That's my pick, hands down. Covers me from swimming a jig and flipping cover with the arky head, docks and shallow rock with the ballheads, and dragging rock piles and shell bars with the football jig.

@@MattStefanFishing yeah when you only fish one reservoir it doesn’t take that long to learn the typical water clarity seasonal patterns so you only need to carry a relatively small selection of colors for throughout the year. I just hav one 3700 box for swim jigs and one for flipping & wobble heads. I do have skirt making box which i carry but don’t make skirts on the water I just do that at home when I need to make some or get the urge to make a new color. BTW, those 3 custom skirts you showed how to make last year work quite well in Florida … 😎

🍺I purchased Berkeley for the first time ever two weeks ago🥳 I got 80 Berkley jigs that were on sale. I got them from your link on TW. They were only $3.85 each at the time🤑. I got finesse swim, swim, skipping, football, and flipping. They will go into “storage” until I go thru the others I already have that are not Berkeley or if I loose confidence in the ones I currently use. I also like gifting my fishing gear/baits to others that are less fortunate then me.🤠 The Bama bream was my favorite color. I have some waters the gill spawn could play. The Blue craw, BR green pumpkin, and watermelon candy may get tied on in clearer water situations. 🤷‍♂️ Live scope is going to win again this week.( Seminole)🥱
