Hey Jon, hope you both are well. Firstly, nice catching up again for our usual chit chat. On to the audio. 25% very quiet, 50% much better, 75% is to much and picking up more background wind. Love Karren's theory on salads, made me chuckle. Stay Safe.

Hi Steve hope you're well and thanks for commenting, always great to catch up and have a chat with you lookingt forward to the next time. Agreed 50% seem to be the sweet spot and i can always tweet it a little in editing. Karen has lots of crazy theories, and just to let you know she is well above level 10,000 on Candy Crush.
Best wishes stay safe Jon & Karen

That was great, John and what a stunning place to do the test. Absolutely loved those World War II bunkers, they looked amazing!
I was interested to see what it was like taking photos as it’s not something I would ever expect but was great. 👍

Hi Phil hope you're well and thanks for commenting. Buscot village and farm land are owned by the national trust, definitely a nice place for photography and a picnic but it does get very busy during the summer months, with boats and people. On a recent holiday I took a fair amount of photos with the camcorder.
      Best wishes stay safe Jon

Hi Jon. Hope you and Karen are doing well. Hope you enjoyed your holiday, sure you said your away. 50% is a nice sweet spot I think. Nice demo video mate. Take care and be safe. Shawn

Hi Shawn hope you're well and thanks for commenting. Buscot is about a 30 minute drive from home, it's a good place for testing and having a stroll along the river at the same time. Definitely 50% seems to be the sweet spot and I can always tweet the levels in the edit. We've just got back from holiday in Dorset, videos coming soon once I've sorted all the video footage and photos out.
Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen

Hi Jon, hope you are both well, great little test of the microphone, I think the 50% mark was about the best quality higher and you lose quality, Loved the photos mate, Karen is right on the plants make you bigger front, I have been eating the cacao tree for years and I'm huge lol

@keithguppy Hi Keith hope you're well and thanks for commenting. Agreed, I think 50% is the sweet spot, and I can always tweet it in editing. I was surprised how well the photos turned out, I used it again to take photos on our recent holiday, only thing is it takes ages to write to the sd card. Definitely too much chocolate or maybe the camera bag got smaller 🤔.
Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen

Hello Jon, great video, looks so nice there. The 50% does seem the best level to me. Regards David 📷👍

Hi David hope you're well and thanks for commenting. Buscot is only a short drive from home, although it doesn't look like it, we're not too far from the source of the river Thames. Agreed with you on this one 50% is about right and I can always adjust the levels in the editing.
      Best wishes stay safe Jon

Hi Jon. The nice thing about the audio on the ax53 is that I think it has a limiter built in so you can really turn it up loud and the peaks will be taken down by the camera. Really handy because I often do that in post to the audio and it allows for a much louder volume than you can otherwise get.
Have you got ‘normalise’ on your editor? That’ll bring whatever you record up to a maximum.
I do like using the ax53. Rock solid footage and that lovely zoom!

Hi Ian hope your well & thanks for commenting. I didn't know the AX53 had a limiter, is it something i can adjust or is it automatic, i'll have to check deeper into the menus. My editing software (Cyberlink Powerdirector 17) does have a normalise feature which I usebut for this video it was left as the AX53 recorded it. Being a dual capsule mic it's difficult to balance the audio levels, on a recent holiday i used the AX53 with the Boya mic soo hopefully i'll get good audio. I really like using the AX53 for video compared to the M50 , and i'd like to get into more videoing. I would like to upgrade the AX53 to a AX700 but they're no longer in production.
      Best wishes stay safe Jon

Hi Jon. The limiter is automatic and can’t be adjusted.
To play around with my volume levels, I recorded at each level and looked at the size of the wave on Audacity. The highest without having too much top chopped off by the limiter was best, but actually, you can whack the volume up as high as you like and it won’t over modulate. It almost acts as a built in compressor.
I love the ax53. Might have a look around for a sale for the 700. Camcorders are way less problematic to use for quick video than mirrorless or DSLR’s. Trouble is that they’ve gone out of fashion so probably, sales aren’t so good resulting in companies stopping selling them. Great pity.
I managed to hack into my ax53 so it gives me the option of 30 and 60fps so I often use it at 60 for a dead smooth video. Love 60fps at 1/60th sec on TV. Dead smooth.

That mic is a great idea. I have a Rode Video Micro & the downside is having to keep turning the mic around depending how I'm using the camera. I usually go with 50% for both my shotgun & Lav Mics

@@vloggingwithtony Hi Tony thanks for commenting. Agreed this mic is a really good idea not sure why other manufacturers haven't done similar, I believe Deity also has a dual capsule mic with slightly different features. A dual capsule is definitely worth considering for vlogging.

@@vloggingwithtony looking to hearing how you get on with it, my only criticism is that the supplied deadcats are rubbish, I believe that the Rode one for the video micro will fit.

So folks whats your thoughts on the correct audio level, i think 50% is about right.
