    It's is very rare that a film deserves to be a success, but after part one, I think part two has earned the success I hope it gets

      And a lot of reactors and such said they want to see part 2 in the cinemas after witnessing how good it was.

      @@zenithquasar9623 I feel like there are some videos that separates the cream to the top, and in terms of reactors, this trailer did that for me. So many fake people out on TH-cam, not really caring about the material, even going into reacting to this trailer without having watched the first movie.
      That's why for me these guys are some of the best reaction and reviewers on TH-cam.
      Rant over, sorry 😅

    if you don't generally like prophesy in fiction, you might like what Dune does with it. i won't spoil anything, but i will remind you that the first movie already touched on how the Bene Gesserit were intentionally spreading "prophesies" around Arrakis that would match up with Paul, in preparation for his arrival. the book is more explicit about it, but in the movie, there's one line from the Reverend Mother about how they'd been preparing the way for Paul on Arrakis, but you could easily miss it, especially if you don't already know what she's referring to.
    Dune was, more than anything, a subversion of the Chosen One trope, and it flips a lot of those cliches on their heads.

    • @NarendraTheComic
      @NarendraTheComic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, prophecy in fiction needs to be handled carefully, it's easily imbalanced. But I love a subversion that fits the character. I did catch the line about 'laying a path', but until I conversed in the comments, I didn't realise how long and difficult the process was to get there: Bene Gesserit spending thousands of years of pulling strings and marriages, it's next level stuff. - nonsensei

    Seeing the gleam in both your eyes at the thought of Dennis directing 10 Dune movie was precious.
    But why wait for November before starting to read the series, everyone can attest having read Dune doesn't lessen the movie experience it just deepens it.

    • @NarendraTheComic
      @NarendraTheComic  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Imagining 10 by Denis... Yes, a gleam it the right word!
      I do want to wait, because often we watch films/TV and have insight on the story, this does expand the joy sometimes, but for us, going in with little to no knowledge is rare. I kind of want to enjoy Dune as a proper newbie and just be in awe of everything rather than anticipate what is to come. - nonsensei

    Dune Part 2 makes north of $700 million IF the film can get plebs and non-niche fans to the table, and they will do so if they can give an epic war/battle between the houses as a visual. This comes close but I think a second trailer is needed, which is fine as I think this one came way earlier than I was expecting. A July trailer with big battle scenes should seal the deal, and then hopefully we get a Denis directed Dune Messiah movie in the next 10ish years or so. Box office dollars are a factor for sure, but remember that this film took home SIX Oscars, the most of any movie that year, and that is its own currency. So yeah, I feel confident in this IP.

    I'm a fan of this franchise and of Denis Villeneuve. I've only read the first three books of the six book series that Frank Herbert wrote, but of course...there are many other books that were written by Frank's son and another author of varying success.
    I've watched Dune three times. I love what Denis did with the story. It is a very politically driven book, with lots of heavy concepts (not an easy read), but Denis distilled it beautifully.
    What we saw in Dune: Part One is basically the setup for the ramifications of what happens in Dune: Part Two. BUT, this is not an action movie. Keep in mind, that this is a political thriller.
    You are correct, the cast is amazing...and the new additions are stellar.
    Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha and Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. Another actor, Christopher Walken is playing Emperor Shaddam IV...whicn I cannot wait to see.
    Also seeing Giedi Prime, the home world of the Harkonnen in black and white...such a bold choice, but is reflective of their family, indeed.
    Showing the riding of Shai-Hulud in the trailer, though it says it's an Official Trailer, but since the movie is going to run long...it is really just a teaser for the movie...to get people pumped up (which I feel it really did), but I'm worried that it may be sending a different message to the movie world that this will be an action film. IF it follows the book (and since Denis LOVES this franchise, I do NOT think he will deviate much from the source material (other than for the visual medium of storytelling), we have to remember that this is the quintessential house warfare/political thriller in the vein of Game of Thrones BEFORE there was an inkling of GoT.
    In how much this film will make...I will go one dollar higher than Nonsensei and say $800,000,001 (Price is Right move). I am Bullish on this movie and want it to get to a billion dollars, world wide, but that isn't the type of director that Denis is, nor is this the type of source material that this is...but it is, like you said...The Godfather of Science Fiction.
    Great reaction. Cannot wait till November 3rd. I don't want them to have too many trailers...to give too much away, but this one woke the internet and TH-cam reaction channels up. Yesterday, I watched thirty-two reactions. Marie watched a few of them. She's excited for it, but I'm through the roof excited.
    Talk to you, later.

    This is the prophetic Messiah story that every sci fi with anything to do with prophets which came after was clearly heavily inspired by, but the derivations are ALWAYS only taking from the surface level. The thing that sets Dune apart is that there's so much more to it than the surface.
    Many say that Dune feels familiar because its influenced so much, but the thing is I've never seen a story like the story of Paul Atriedes. Nobody has tried to replicate any of the direction in which it's expanded and deepened

    • @doubleth1nk
      @doubleth1nk ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Pugh is the princess Irulan of House Corrino, eldest daughter of Shaddam IV. She, like her mother, is Bene Gesserit and, like Jessica, the Reverends Mother commanded her to bare only daughters. Unlike Jessica, Irulan's mother obeyed.

      Even getting close to a billion would be amazing. I'm hoping for it, I want films that are good to make good money, and Dune is exceptional - nonsensei

    Realistically, the series gets a bit "weird" after book 2 and might be too much by book 4 for to be a mainstream success. That being said stopping the franchise somewhere in book 3 wouldn't be a horrible idea, and at this pace what would be 3 or 4 more movies...That would be a lot of Dune for people to consume.

    All those books behind you, none of them Frank Herbert. Shameful.

      Yeah, we can't have every book, it's simply not possible. And sometimes not having the prior knowledge about a film is better, it makes the experience of watching even sweeter! - nonsensei
