Raising prices so dramatically has NOT paid off for the US Mint. I was a very dedicated US Mint purchaser before the price hikes. I've cancelled all of my subscriptions except for the Uncirculated sets and AW Quarters.
Are you me? I was in for every premium silver eagle Morgan and peace. I tapped out after the increases. I already knew I was overpaying but $95 per eagle is just outrageous
I would have normally bought at 2 each but because of the quality and price I dropped my subs. It doesn't surprise me that the sales are way down. Act stupid, win stupid prizes.
I bought and held the 2024 BU and thought I’d buy the proofs and reverse proofs for 2024. But I ended up canceling my subscriptions for proofs right before the shipment and bought a couple rolls of Mercury dimes instead. 100 coins instead of 4.
I deactivated my subs all but the unc morgan peace dollars. I feel taking that cash and buying up 90% silver is a better buy for me. As always thank you greatly for the update!
There is a concept, double your price you can lose half your customers and not lose a dime. Based on preliminary figures, they sold $13.5M less or a 40% decrease year over year. The biggest costs for the Mint is Cost of Goods (the metal itself) and salaries. Government employees are getting a 2% raise in 2025. Silver is up roughly 36% from January 1. The bottom line number for the year ending September 2024 (which is the year end of the government) is going to take a beating. This hike was too much. I don’t believe they will decrease prices, they will opt to not increase prices for a period of time. I think this decision is flawed. They made the barrier to entry too difficult for new collectors, additionally the Mint doesn’t do a good job at marketing to younger people.
SSS The Mint sales is showing WE THE PEOPLE are Not Buying as Much . I sure am not buying . I am thinking of not buying the Flowing Hair .$104.00 is a lot :-))
Is it me or did last years (2023) proof Morgan and Peace dollars have more of a bluish mirror finish? While this years looks like classic DMPL with the white cameo?
Triple S I bowed out & my purchases have swung to other direction feeding my accumilation of my Osmium holdings as I have a plan to a family heirloom for generations to hold the family crest and the beauty that will be a store of wealth ... For an idea check out the Osmium Violin for an extreme example
Why do people care about mintage, it doesn't give the piece more value, silver is silver, gold is gold and that's it, end of story. If people think mintage gives the piece more value, they are mistaken. Again, silver is silver, gold is gold. It doesn't matter if you have a low mintage Eagle gold piece or a high mintage gold eagle, it's just a gold eagle. Just one example, it doesn't matter, it only matters if a person is collecting all the dates or whatever. If you want to pay 2,000 for a 1993 half ounce Gold Eagle, be my guest. For a 1 troy ounce gold piece never pay over $125 over spot, for a 1/2 troy ounce gold piece. Never pay over $200 over spot, for a quarter. Quarter gold is about $250 over spot maximum, for a 1/10, you're going to pay about $300-350 at current spot. I highly doubt silver sales are down compared to last year, but maybe they are because silver is now more expensive. I bought the same amount of silver this year and then I did last year. Only buy as much silver as you can carry, silver is your small bills, gold is your big bills.. Get your paper money out of the bank, soon. It will be worthless.
I’m so happy this morning to hear this news. I knew this last year this was gonna be a flop. How could you screwup the peace and Morgan dollar? Leave it to that director to totally fumble. I’ll be enjoying picking these up on eBay still. Let someone else take the big L.

Agreed, I jettisoned subscriptions due to price hikes.

As you should, they are just being greedy at this point.
I was ,but I canceled all
I canceled all 8 of my subscriptions.
I would have normally bought at 2 each but because of the quality and price I dropped my subs. It doesn't surprise me that the sales are way down. Act stupid, win stupid prizes.
Wow who would have thought that raising the price 20%+ would also drop the sales 20%+ .
Government efficiency at its finest.
I used to order 27 products in a given year. Now it's 3. Do the math U.S. Mint. 💥 💰 💥

That's the way to do it! Especailly at these prices!!!

I’m with you on this. I just got two rolls of Mercs and cancelled my proof and reverse proofs! 100 coins instead of 4.
SSS(Mint Master) Good Morning Sir :-))
I bought two vintage Morgan dollars, only four coins left to complete the set.
I always thought the Mint made a mistake by not producing the reintroduction of the Morgan+ Peace $ with one troy oz planchets...

Prices are up, and they ran too long
Glad you prove that Money Metals is a place to OVER-PAY!
Screw the US mint. I’ve taken my money elsewhere.

Lower mintage means no interest.
Less for more , with questionable quality , sketchy service and increased mintages .. kinda a bad combo

WOKE mint fails
Woke... really. Oy Vey. The Mint has charged too much money for the Peace and Morgan. Nothing to do with being woke.
