I would never call NoFX a pop punk band and I don't think that any of their members claim that they are a pop punk band. They're a kickass band no matter what the fuck their genre is!

Hardcore is a type of punk. They just added melody to their vocals. Bad Religion did the same thing. Bad Religion is also a Melodic Hardcore band. Black Flag is hardcore. Bands like Slipknot are not Hardcore bands. They are metal bands.
NOFX take the piss out of everyone and everything. They take the piss out of other bands like offspring and blink yet they're all really good friends. Don't take the on stage jokes so seriously.
