That intro is perfect. This is still my go to video when I want to hear Generator live, even after 5 years. Even if it's just for the first 90 seconds of the video. Hahaha.
@@paulaszupat8166You are welcome Paula, and it’s actually a pleasure to have you here. Well I know you must be surprised to receive a message from me right?
Saw them in Orlando the same year. The best concert I have ever attended. Ever. Graffin was this good from beginning to end, and he pretty much sang their entire catalogue.
Just proves how great they are, that not only can they recreate the ferocity of their studio records live on stage, but they even have the ability to surpass what they committed to record! I LOVE this version of Generator, especially the intro where the boys leave Greg to sing acapella at the spur of the moment.. and when the guitar kicks back in he says "there it is!" I just love it! So spontaneous, they were ALL on fire that day in 96! :) Lucky people in the audience! Respect from life-long Bad Religion fan Davey in Ireland.. (My only complaint is that the video is cut short before the song ends)
Actually not, the song cut right in that moment, and jumps to another, you can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/kFiqjUODZcw/w-d-xo.html 👆 the full concert video
Supposedly, Greg was tired of waiting for the band to be ready, so he started singing the song acapella. When the band was ready, they kicked in. Whatever happened... amazing version, somehow even better than the studio version.
I am a born again Christian now. Started listening to them in the mid to late 90's- I loved Bad Religion for at least 10 years. Began traveling the world in 2007- just because I was bored and I wanted to surf. Then I began having spiritual experiences.... began exploring and doing lengthy and very disciplined Buddhist retreats. I was in Nepal, India, the Middle East.... I seeked out all religions, but when I was deeply broken inside I asked to have a spiritual experience with Jesus, and to be born again.... this was the beginning of a deep healing inside my heart, many spiritual experiences, and miracles in life. I loved Bad Religions music- there is so much truth in what they speak about. Including the ugliness of organized religion at times..... but it doesnt mean the spiritual world is not real. I hope this finds whoever reads this doing well.... you are loved deeply by Jesus Christ. The spiritual world is very complex, and full of mystery.
God, I have a man crush, seriously! I played this intro at least 20 times, and I can't get enough of it.. Greg's amazing, that energy and emotion is simply incredible
I saw them on that tour as well. Vancouver 86 st music hall. Green day had released Dookie but hadnt become huge yet. Seaweed from Tacoma opened. When they played generator that night is a memory that will live with me forever. The song always gives me chills..
Seeing them play this version live was (for me) the equivalent of seeing Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner live at Woodstock. It felt like a once in a lifetime thing. So cool to experience.
This is proof that Greg and the boys are true artists!!! Between their lyrics, the music, and his amazing voice...and NONE of it is produced in a studio by a bunch of machines...they have talent and make music what it should be!!!
