So glad you added the bit about disposal. I have just cleared my work room and have a broken torch and 2 empty gas containers. They are now all empty of gas and I can throw them out safely. Thank you so much for all the videos. I find them very helpful.
Have you tried using the lock switch when the torch is on? I don't have one of these torches, but I've seen it such as that you can lock the switch in the on position as well as in the off position.
That new torch you bought is really impressive! I’ve been feeling pretty bummed about not being able to afford, or really, safely have a smith torch in my apartment, but that handheld looks like it can do all that I need right now. Thanks for this video!
EXCELLENT VIDEO! It's so great to actually SEE how to properly fill a butane torch, my sincere thanks!! I've always wondered what is the correct result of filling the torch properly would look like, sound like, etc. About serious, professional torches; would you say the Smith "Silversmith" torch (often called the "Handyheet" as well) is nearly identical to the "Seavert" (your version in the UK?)? It looks like you like the single fuel/ambient air torch with interchangeable tips, would that be accurate? The Smith "Little" torch has 1 fuel (propane or acetylene)and tanked compressed oxygen. Do you prefer one (your Seavert) over the other (Smith "Little" torch)? Thanks, Andrew. THIS IS A MAJOR DECISION, so grateful for your guidance and wisdom!! Oops, one more question, why do they call them "blow" torches? Is it because of the old-fashioned actual blow torches that depended on the jeweler blowing into a tube in the tool to add ambient air? Is the term "blow" still accurate for the torch you got that is new, you called it (the Rekrow) a "blow torch? Thank you again!! As always, very relevant information, and expertly presented!!
Hi Andrew. I am very new to stone setting. I have cruised many utube vids about flush setting stones, often it has been said not to try flush setting stones bigger than 4 mm. I want to set a sapphire , 4.2 mm in a gold (18 ct) ring .the setting is square (7 by 7 mm ). Please can you give me some advice.
I'm a year off but figured I'd respond for anyone else that reads it I use a chasing hammer and punch with a polished face to close thick bezels. There's videos on it... Punch setting. The punched parameter of the bezel then must be cleaned up with a flex shaft and med/fine polishing bit or wheel.. 👍
Either the seals in the valve are damaged, or the flame is turned up too high. Try turning it down a bit, or it could be that you might be trying to use the torch too soon after filling it. The liquid gas gets very very cold when the torch's tank is filled, and can damage the o-ring seals.
Thank you for this video. Very well explained and it’s great how you said to let the torch sit for a while before use. What temp torch would you recommend to start with? 🤗
Thanks for the safety tips ❗💯👍

Anyone have any tips on setting a cabochon into a thick bezel setting? Do you need a hammer action piece for our drill or is there an other option?

Q
In life the risks may occur! If shit hits the fan, you'll have to having a lauch before a launch or lunch😂
anybody knows how to clean polishing compound black gunk from jewelery i polished a chain but the damn thing wont come off i have heard about ammonia
I'm struggling with the same problem. No solution yet. Did you find a good way to clean it?
Use an ultrasonic or hot soapy water
@@Atthebench do you recommend an ultrasonic? I bought a cheaper version and it didn't even effect the menzerna I use
Liflow the solution has to be heated for it to work
@@Atthebench OK that may have been the problem. I'll try again.
Why my scorch torch does not turn off completely after using the torch?
