Was lucky enough to X in 1984 for "More Fun in the New World" tour.Jason and Scorchers opened up for them.Positively one of the best live shows I ever saw.

Nice to see some down home good old fashioned 'punks' ...so many of the new punk bands are just a waste of time

X didn't quite register with the English punks like we Yanks took to the Pistols, as they were too Americana & therefore less commercial. Still, their impact on the (world-class) l.a. music scene cannot be denied, as they never broke up, and therefore were & remained the influencial leaders of the American underground scene from the late 70's & throughout the 80's. The Replacements, Pixies, Green Day, Black Flag, Sonic Youth, Rage Against The Machine, Hole/Courtney Love, Pearl Jam, Throwing Muses, & Mazzy Star are just a few bands that owe X a debt of gratitude. MAJOR PROPS OVERDUE!!!!

X were just so different than anything at that time. Manzarek did play on some Echo and the Bunnymen songs, and at the time we thought he might have had something to do with the production of those songs.

One of the most surreal moments of my life happened in 2001. I walked into a convenience store and saw Exene standing in line at the counter.

I followed X up until the great ''See how we are'' in 87, then i stopped, not because i didn't like them anymore, it was just there was too much happening in music all around, i sort of lost track of them. The sudden fall in distribution and import also contributed to that, since i can't even remember having seen ''Hey Zeus!'' on the racks of the record shops where i used to buy from. Still all them 6 early albums are one of the columns that sustain the memory of how real RnR used to be.

X has been one of my constants since I became aware of them via early videos of theirs on M-TV (early '80s). My musical interests would wander over the years into different genres and sub-genres and even more-obscure sub-genres of sub-genres and hybrid mashup genres, but I'd always wind up coming back to X.
