thank god there are still legends that get on like a couple of boys skipping class together ....nothing pretentious about em and its a breath of fresh air in this era of "buy my stinkin brand"
I’m not even a huge Sex Pistols fan, what I love about this interview is just watching two mates who’ve known each other their whole lives. The bromance is real, their little digs at each other and inside jokes, the way Cookie says “I’ve been doing his laff all week”. I love it.
YES!! Every time these guys are together it’s magic. You can’t buy this stuff kids, can’t fake it either! These guys are the real deal. Thank you Cookie and Steve! Now play together live again PLEASE!!!!
Cookie, what a great bloke. Ran into him early 80s, literally at a Portsmouth Chelsea game when it was going off, blues away game. Then played football against him in the 80s in the musicians league, was it Trident? What a modest, nice bloke.
Paul and Steve real people! Cracking viewing!.God bless them!.Cheers lads! Much love and respect!.thank you for the music!.got the book!he he he!.sir paul cook please make a book!
What great guys. I met them in '82 in Seattle after they played their Astor Park show. Both Steve and Paul were very nice, very generous with their time, great guys to talk to. I will alway remember them.
I almost shitted my pants laughing so hard you you can tell these guys are best friends since they were like in middle school or Little Italy Brothers their amazing chemistry as friends
@@msmysticstorytime Um, let's see. Steve was neglected, sexually abused, addicted to drugs and alcohol, a junkie, rides motorcycles, had a heart attack recently. Being a Sex Pistol in England and America was risking life and limb. The Jimi Hendrix Experience, David Bowie and Mick Ronson, The Ramones and Motörhead are all dead.
+MeatWisdom...That would be cool. Contrary to popular belief, Steve got on quite well with Glen, and gives him due credit for his contribution to the Pistols. Something Lydon won't do.
I really love oldies, the old people. How badass they were back in their youth, when the time comes, all of them end up becoming like this. Slow thoughts, signs of bad health, excited to talk about memories, forgetting, etc... I LOVE OLDIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their laughter is infectious. It would be great is these 2 would play some music together again. When Jonesy had McLaren on back in 05 (?) there was lots of laughter. The first 5 minutes was hysterical.
Paul is pretty much an expert on England's old class system, the Royal family, the working class of post WW II Britain...plus he was also the Ringo/Watts of 70's UK punk.
Two proper London geezers. You can tell they are great mates too. I bet even if they haven't seen each other for a year or two, they carry on the conversation like it was yesterday. 😊 Gotta love Jonesy and Cookie.
i was chatting with someone recently and they said they saw Paul at an assembly, i thought wow spiritual man , i may see you there depending where you go , last time i saw you i was at a the professionals gig 79 and you said hello mate on the stairs leading into the gig, small world .as we get older and the world falls apart globally you realize, its all very imminent and we are so fragile , anyway all the best Tim
Thanks you, Mr. Jones(y) for having this on video. I heard your radio thing in L.A. and never imagined you'd have it on the youtuBe - gracias and thnx for all the fish ! ?
"It's in the book!" .. I'm reading Jonesy's book, haha. These guys go back a long way (school) ... Weird thing about Jonesy - 35 years in America, he's very happy there, but hasn't picked up even a little bit of an American accent. Bless him for it.
The Pure Prairie League giggle and propagation of same at 22:25 is absolutely contagious, school boys again trying to suppress laughter in a classroom, they're 9 years old again, its too late when the brain's physiological center for laughter shoots you out of the cannon, hilarious,I return to this episode time and time again ...
I remember seeing both of these in the Portobello Road pub where Steve says he bought Speed from Lemmy,it was called the Princess Alexandra, then re-named the Portobello Gold, and now just Gold.
They are acting like they are young, having fun. If I saw my buddies I was with in the USMC 35 years ago. We would act like we never left each other. Like we never passed 18-19 years old. Love it
I think that Steve and Paul should have a podcast, just the two of them chatting like this, maybe with some guests. I guess that's what Steve's radio show is anyway, still it'd be cool.
These guys changed the music world back in the day....great they are such great mates:) And the Greyhound ....at 175 Fulham Palace Road....I worked and lived there pulling beers in '73 -'74 two bands a night 7 days a week...was awesome!! From the Heavy Metal Kids to Phil Linnot ....Traffic....Canned Heat....Man....etcetera etcetera :) So many great stories .....Peter Green used to come in every day on his way home at 4pm from digging ditches on the road to have a pint and we'd have a chat for halfa ....as it was super quiet at 4pm.....about 3 months in the Guvnenor of the Pub....Duncan Fergusson said to me ....you know who that is right ?? Me in total innocence says sure ....Its Peter works on the roads digging ditches, he asked me ....ever heard of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac....he is that Peter Green....one of the best Guitarists of All time....was a little bit of a surprise to me :) Check him out here ....th-cam.com/video/0yq-Fw7C26Y/w-d-xo.html
I understand Jonesy played all the bass parts on NMTB, Matlock had just left the band. The rhythm section on the album was stellar and one of the lasting sounds which is a feat given Rotten is doing the singing.
The Fulham Greyhound pub where they went to watch rock bands is still there but its been derelict for a few years,....I wish some of the old punks who have done well for themselves would get together and save it as a live music venue.
Mates from school until now that's beautiful
I`m still best mates with quite a few schoolmates from the 1960s-70s like these are.
Yes agree stayed best friends all these years.
They are just as good buds as when they were nippers.
@@silasmarner7586 Yes stayed friends, I bet they were both a headache at school for the teachers.
Not convinced Steve ever went to school.
Cook & Jones laid down some of the best Rock and Roll tracks ever, true game changers.
True dat. Double true.
Patrick Shawl Guitar and drums are the backbone of rock n roll... these guys had that symbiotic kind of click
Once firebrands, now like the Laurel and Hardy of rock 'n' roll.
can you please tell me where can i watch "Lydon on jonesy's jukebox"?
Don't forget Matlock. Can't stand the guy but he did lay down some wicked guitar riffs.
thank god there are still legends that get on like a couple of boys skipping class together ....nothing pretentious about em and its a breath of fresh air in this era of "buy my stinkin brand"
They get on like a real couple! ;-)
@TheGooners11 Well said
They're like brothers. A real love.
Thick as thieves. Well, that was a tune by The Jam, but it suits them perfectly!
I’m not even a huge Sex Pistols fan, what I love about this interview is just watching two mates who’ve known each other their whole lives. The bromance is real, their little digs at each other and inside jokes, the way Cookie says “I’ve been doing his laff all week”. I love it.
Paul needs a radio show of his own called Cookie's Corner.
Blimey ol' chap! 'Tis Brill💫
That’s a catchy name and a good idea!
Combined with a cooking show.
You Joker Cookie Cooks, Paul Cooks, Cook Cooks ...
lol cookie
Changed my life these geezers...
proper fagins boys....love em!.

Stephen Elkin music has no soul or bollocks anymore m8! Corporate energy stagnates creativity.
There’s good stuff out there, gotta find it.
Stephen Elkin True but yes you have to really dig for it anymore
Can you tell me where can u watch Jonny Rotten on jonesy's jukebox? thx
They recently played live together with "Generation sex" (with Billy Idol and tony James) !
Cookie, what a great bloke. Ran into him early 80s, literally at a Portsmouth Chelsea game when it was going off, blues away game. Then played football against him in the 80s in the musicians league, was it Trident? What a modest, nice bloke.
I could listen to these two for days.

Of all the guests Jonesy has had on his show, this is by far my favourite interview. Just two mates shooting the shit.
Steve's London accent gets stronger when he's with Paul.

The epitome of punk rock 🧷 🪨 🎸 😎
That was so much fun.
It's nice to see Cook and Jones just having fun like the two old mates they are.
You can tell they been friends forever, still find childish shit funny, great to watch makes you smile
superb guys you two need your own channel, love the banta from Paul
"What are you benching?"
"Whats that?"
"I dunno" Hahahahaha
.... Alas Jonesy @ Cook! Puttin the world to rights! .... I could listen to their crazy laughter, all day! Thank you for cheerin me up, boys! xxxx
most fun to listen to what are obviously old friends having a laugh.. Too great! thanks
Best buds, these two. Great chemistry.
I almost shitted my pants laughing so hard you you can tell these guys are best friends since they were like in middle school or Little Italy Brothers their amazing chemistry as friends

Jonesy should get Glen Matlock on the show, if he hasn't already.

Paul cook was simply beautiful when Sex Pistols became famous.
He’s still nothing but class and humor.

So much love for you two. Epic guitarist and epic drummer. Funny too.
Paul is pretty much an expert on England's old class system, the Royal family, the working class of post WW II Britain...plus he was also the Ringo/Watts of 70's UK punk.
Nah, ringo and watts had a jazzy uneven subtle touch, Paul cook was four on the floor and loud
Jet Black shit on all the punk drummers as a middle-aged man in the ‘70s. Love Cookie though.
Never mind the bollocks is one hell of a record

Good to see two grown men not beaten down and still having a good time.
king of the drums/king of guitar/English rock royalty.
My fave two geezers on the planet.

Can't believe I've just come across Steve's show - gert brilliant! And that laugh, can't get it outta my head now lol
Cookie must be the most down to earth musician ever, he always sounds like there's no cameras, no microphones just him talking to a mate in the pub
These 2 are great
Good to see these guys getting along so well. Heroes....
love the tension ,,, You ve been here three weeks and now you come ... musicians are very good with priotities
I love it when they're together
I'm guessing that Jonesy was referencing Sir Johnathon Rotten when he mentioned that someone took a couple of things from the book the wrong way.
