This was a good part 2 Ash’s First Catch is Mankey instead of Caterpie and then he catches Spearow instead of Pidgeotto I like that Spearow follows ash to settle the score and I liked That Ash battles Mankey with Clifairy instead of just throwing a pokeball and I liked that Misty gave Ash some Positive comments along with a bit of Criticism instead of just calling him out.
Since Ash's first Pokemon is Mankey, I suggest that the events of Bye Bye Butterfree doesn't happened here. Instead, Mankey is now a composite character of Butterfree, Ash's first caught pokemon from the anime.

I love how Spearow just swats Caterpie aside xD I also wonder how Spearow will feel about his new trainer, as that’s something I always wondered if Ash was ever able to get it (even while playing Pokemon Ash Gray, I wondered how my Spearow felt about me) Reading the comments, I like the idea of Mankey (eventually) evolving into Annihilape, since Clefairy’s fairy typing already shows we’re going by modern pokemon and not gen 1 rules
I'm glad I waited to watch this part before leaving any comments. I admit, I wasn't much a fan of part 1 since it felt like just a retelling of the first episode simply swapping Pikachu with Clefairy. However, you outdid yourself with this part and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel like far too many 'What If' writers are too afraid to make major changes to Ash's team/story. The new additions of Mankey and Spearow were a great surprise and I'm happy to see how Ash's alternate adventure develops further from here.
A very interesting team! And I can see how it would work too, like him catching Spearow and that Weedle that got away, the Cerulean gym’s Seel tagging along with him after he saved it, the Oddish from Bulbasaur’s Hidden Village joining him in place of Bulbasaur, and that Ponyta he rode in the race joining him too At the very least I find it interesting to wonder about it Ash had caught certain pokemon he wasn’t able to, like the aforementioned Spearow
It kinda sucks ash did'nt get caterpie but the story is so interesting i honestly can't wait how you show it with fearow but i need to ask are you only doing this to kanto or to journeys if you don't mind me asking
The next 3 catches should be Oddish, Growlithe/ Vulpix, and Shellder to round out the Team!!! As for his 7th Pokemon how about something Truly Asinine like a Magikarp from the Magikarp Salesman? If that guy can get James to buy one, why not Ash?

While this what-if is starting off small, I can tell you have the makings of a great What-If TH-camr much like Ronin Charizard or DexComics
