    I got one of these to put on my router/modem so if it screws up I can remotely reboot it and have the timer set to reboot it on a daily basis.

    I got two of these on a whim on Black Friday. I love them. I don't like overhead lights that shine downward so I have two upward facing lamps that I have to turn on one at a time. These two smart plugs make it super easy to control those two lights! I just connected the TP-link acct to Google Assistant so I can do voice commands without buying an Alexa device. I hope these things last a long time! But it does come with a 2 year warranty so that's pretty cool! Love the HAL 9000 wifi name, haha!

    Thank you for the effort, when trying to add the new smart plug noticed I could only make it work while having a guest network without password and connecting temporarily. After being added the smart plug asks you to connect to your regular wifi station.

    I had a lot of trouble trying to set up the TP-link mini smart plug and the Echo Dot. Way too much trouble. Finally, after jumping through hoops I figured out that we had to use my wife's phone to get the discovery to work. The Echo Dot would NOT recognize the TP Link Mini Dumb Plug because her phone had set up the Echo Dot. This tidbit of information cost me hours of frustration, and good luck finding it anywhere. Why can't these billion dollar companies make it seamless? WTF? I hope this info helps someone out.

    Thanks for the video!. Is there any smart plug with power usage and some kind of surge suppressor currently available on the market? I would like to avoid overload from constant power outages.

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews
      @Wanderer001_Reviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some smart plugs that have power usage measuring however, surge suppression is more of a power strip thing. They do make a power strip that meets the functions of what you are looking for: th-cam.com/video/tn3QWata4ZA/w-d-xo.html

    Hey man! This is by far the best review of this product online, thank you very much. I'm planning on buying a couple of these, one for my coffee machine and one for my wifi itself (my wife likes to shut down the wifi every night). My question is: Since i will be turning the wifi off every night, will the coffee machine plug connect automatically once the wifi is restored in the morning? Let's say that I schedule it to turn on the wifi at 6:45 and then the coffee machine at 7:00... do you think it's possible? Thanks a lot!

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews
      @Wanderer001_Reviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the plug will re-establish connection to the Wi-Fi once it's back up and running. Think of it as if you had a blackout and power was lost it wouldn't be great if it couldn't reconnect itself after something like that.

    • @PacoRV
      @PacoRV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wanderer001_Reviews awesome! Thanks for your response. Thinking this further I wonder what happens to the smart plug that turns the wifi off, it won't have a wifi connection to receive the command to turn itself on, is the plug able to follow the schedule regardless of having a wifi connection or not? Thanks again!

    • @Wanderer001_Reviews
      @Wanderer001_Reviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PacoRV it's a very interesting question I did not know myself. Just ran a few tests and it seems like it will hold the schedule just fine even if there's no Wi-Fi. I had one of my test plug set aside set a schedule and then unplug my Wi-Fi at home. It still came on at the scheduled time.

      The Amazon plug is supposed to just link up with the Alexa because it is added to the Alexa app directly.

    Will it support multi voltage and work in the range of 100-240v. While the voltage standard marked on the label complies to the local standard (100-120v).

    • @ghostridergale
      @ghostridergale 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's very hard to answer, being the power draw from each device you plug in will probably vary! these are rated at 15 amps max, so don't expect to run many devices off of one plug! certainly no microwave or air conditioner of any size! My recommendation is to use these to run a couple lamps at most, to not overload the plug!

    Bad stuff. When on the Add a Smart Plug page, I press Smart Plug/Lite, all I get is a message that says "No Internet .. Make sure that your router is functioning properly and that you have a strong signal" and a green RESCAN button that doesn't do anything and a graphic that shows an extension cord unplugged from the planet earth. When on the android page that shows the networks available, the TP-LINK network shows, but it says "connected without internet, unsecured" These things don't work.

      Have you updated the firm ware? I had that issue when I first got things but it is not a problem now.

    • @ghostridergale
      @ghostridergale 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've not had any issues at all with my larger TP link plugs working with Alexa at all, just bought the mini plugs and haven't connected them yet to Alexa, So far I'm not having any luck connecting these mini plugs, but I may be doing something wrong here too? If it does connect, I will figure it out sooner or later. hopefully not LATER! LOL
      There's a few reasons why it may not work all the time, too many devices on the same network can cause problems or you may have a weak wifi signal where your plug is at? Always a possibility of an electrical short as well, power not being consistent? In fact I had to bend the metal prongs just a tiny bit on my mini plug to get a good connection to power plugged into my electrical socket! If you think you may have weak wifi, try buying a good repeater/ booster! Hope one of these solutions might help? Good luck!
