jayna is such a lovely person. Consistently kind, patient, generous, spiritual, devout; listening to her calm, quiet wisdom never fails to bring comfort and peace.
And she sews great robes and night dresses too. I just finished watching this podcast in my new robe and dress, makes me feel like the woman across the room 😍
I thought Jayna was so very gracious while Megan made fun of her homemade dinner and pattern on her phone cover. Jayna, way to show us “fruits of the spirit” - kindness and self control❣️
This was a good one! Last week I was really down, and was fighting against it because I don’t usually feel that way. I can relate to what Jayna said about accepting the fact you’re feeling down, and then seeing what can make you feel better. One thing that helps me is washing my face, brushing my teeth, and fixing up my hair. Also I don’t usually buy myself little neat things, but the other day I treated myself to a set of fresh new hand towels for the kitchen, and a candle I love.
Megan you’ll like this! Write a list of all your feelings then leave room to write scriptures that points out the lie in that feeling. Works if it’s a pity part but could be encouraging if you’re in a tough season!
Call your Grandma! Do it ❤. I started crying at this one. I was so close to my Grandma, but at the end of her life I lived 1,000 miles away from her. We would talk on the phone though to stay in touch. She passed away last summer at 90 years old. I miss her so much!
Here's something my daughters & I do when we're having a rough day & have to drive somewhere. We call it "Share the Happy": we all wave really big & goofy at random people & see how many we can get to wave back! Sometimes the looks we get are hilarious! But, we've also gotten some really special responses back! It immediately puts us in a better mood! Love you guys! God bless!!!👋😜🙋🏻♀️
I am around your Grandma's age and when we were growing up there was a very popular psychologist/psychiatrist named Leo Buscaglia who pushed having everyone get 19 hugs a day to be their happiest/best! He said we all needed it. He had a few best sellers which you may still be able to find in a library or bookstore. Sadly, likely Jayna said, if you try to hug anyone besides immediate family these days, it can get dicey. But the expert has spoken and I think we need to go back to his advice! "Love one another" is the command we got and remember St. Paul's "Greet one another with a holy kiss."
This helped me ease a funk after a really bad day, of a bad couple months. DH is in a depressive episode of a two months, and while 2/3rds of the problems have been calmed down the depression is lingering. Its taken him out of work for going on three weeks now. DS has been screaming at everything these last few weeks cause he's 2, and molars are working through. DD is 5 and trying her best as all around her is falling apart, but she also wants to be the center of attention practically all the time. I'm trying to stay out of depression cause i just came off a seasonal round recently, frazzled from the chaos, and trying not to be bitter about the household leadership I'm forced to take on in these situations because DH literally can't. These physical and mental battles wrapped up with spiritual battle (felt that more intense than ever this round) just wreck havoc on the nerves! Church family and relatives family are doing what they can to help thankfully. (Sorry for writing a book as a comment) But i also have to tell a story from college. Growing up my grandparents lived 12ish hours apart, so one set or another was always somewhat unhappy about how far away we lived. Now in college, I was 8 hrs away from one set and rarely got to see them. One day in Walmart i walk past an aisle and out of the corner of my eye see an elderly lady and somebody with her. As I go by i hear her speak or laugh, and she sounded so much like my grandmother I hadn't seen in 3 years I stopped in my tracks! I turned around walked over to her and said "Ma'am I know this sounds strange, but you remind me so much of my grandmother I haven't seen in a long time. Can I hug you?" She was delighted to oblige, and that hug felt so good. I think it made both our day and her son (person with her) got a kick out of it too.
Jayna, your description of the Psalms is good....many of them are Psalms of lament, which is a beautiful, Biblical heart process of acknowledging your circumstances but moving on to focus on God's faithfulness... Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy is a great book about lament.
I grew up in York County and I'm coming up to visit my parents this summer! I'd love more things you guys like to do in your area with kids. Meetup please?! I feel like I'm sitting down with sisters when I watch you guys. It's always sooooo good! Thank you for being a clean safe place that always lifts me up.
I was feeling pretty positive listening to you girls.. then you mentioned your grandma who is an OLD mennonite woman in her 70s, and I was knocked back into reality, that regardless how how I don’t feel my age, I am indeed old too, like your grandma! 😂😂😂😂 you two are a delight! Love ya both!
First of all, there cannot be enough hot dog slices in any soup. My Mom had to add another batch to the soup for the second day, as we fished out all the ones from day one😂 I love Jaynas Flamingo, just sewn a dark blue summer shirt with lots of Flamingos for my husband...he picked the fabric. It is such a cheerful shirt. Thank you for all the good ideas, one of mine to feel better is sing out loud. Either to a happy song or to a tear jerker song, whatever fits the mood😂
This is a great video - loved it better than the last homemaker one 😅 ❤ The Flamingo shirt is so cool too- and Megan’s matched it so your kinda like twins!
When I’m in a funk, I pray, cry, worship, and I like to watch your videos too :) Cleaning sometimes help but when I’m in a funk just something about watching your videos does make me feel better ❤
Just want to mention that Jaynas voice is always a bit quieter than Megan's. Maybe it's just me. I was hoping to hear some encouragement for a mom struggling with a fussy clingy teething baby who doesn't have time to get any work done. All I want somedays is to put my baby down and walk away without him crying. I know I'm not the only mom dealing with this but it can sure feel that way! I try to think of all the moms dealing with worse things. I think I can apply a few of these suggestions. I can leave the pile of dishes and do something other than the day to day stuff. Making a coffee drink is definitely a huge encouragement. Or just a simple spritzer. And "this too shall pass" (altho hearing that at the moment is almost infuriating)! So thanks for all the ideas! And all you moms just hang in there❤ we're in this together!
🌸 I am older and my kids are in their 20’s. But all that you chatted about today, can apply to even my life! 2023 hasn’t brought the best for me so far but I am a most positive type of personality but even I can get down! It’s rare for me to be down but your video today was timely and very realistic and doable. I sent out two sympathy cards ! You two are a breath of fresh air. 🌸
I just Love this video series. I enjoy hearing the little ways you guys are similar and appreciate the differences. Keep doing this one. It’s been great!
I homeschooled 6 kids and I did such random things when days were rough. Sometimes we’d just move everything and do school outside. Sometimes I’d say we would have lunch at a park and nature walk or everyone draw something in nature and stop for a treat on the way home. I’d also play random games with them, make an indoor fort, or make up a craft. Or we’d take a nature walk in the neighborhood. It was great just to get outside especially. And we made so many fun memories along the way….especially on nature walks…that we would have missed otherwise.
Rearrange a room in the house; sometimes a new look with items and furniture you already own lifts your mood. Do a job or task that you have been putting off but that needs done, such as pulling weeds, deep cleaning the garage, etc. Sometimes getting something done that you arent looking forward to tackling is a great reminder that things could always be worse than being in a brief funk lol
The simplest thing I do is to smile. Just the act of smiling....the muscles you use...is somehow relaxing to the face. Like a micro-mini meditation. And EVERYONE is prettier with a smile on their face.
Enjoy you two! I always tell myself: this too shall pass! I think I do like the idea of cleaning a small area that would bring instant satisfaction. God bless you two!
I love you two SO much! First off, Jayna - I ordered one of your robes a few weeks back, oh. my. Lanta.! I never knew I could love an earthly object this much! I tell my husband, "My Lancaster Mennonite friend made this for me" 🥰 You are the Proverbs 31: 24 epitome, and I sincerely thank you! Secondly, when I get grouchy and think nasty self deprecating thoughts, I have found it helps if I "yell" at myself "Jesus does NOT like you thinking about HIS daughter like that!" As weird as that may sound, it works in helping me redirect my perspective. I am having a good day today, so no need to yell at myself...but I think I am going to go put on my robe 😉
Ok so my answer to retail therapy but not spending mlney is going to the library and properly browsing the books like its a bookshop before making my carefully considered book choice 😂
All of these ideas were so great! Some of these I do too but also so many new ideas! I will be remembering these when I'm needing a pick me up. As always, love listening to you ladies chat. ❤️🤗
Wonderful video you both just keep getting better each time I see one, and you both are so great together and it is such a blessing to have family around all the time. Yes would love to see Grandma but understands how she feel but such wisdom. Till next time God Bless you both and your families . love from Kansas🥰
I haven't read through all the comments, so not sure if someone already said this, but thought it was funny (an unintended pun) when Meghan suggested writing a list and followed up with "...when you're feeling 'listless.'" (ba-dam,-ching!) 😉
Before I say it i haven't just had grilled hot dogs yet since I was pregnant but so far I haven't been able to do hot dogs since being pregnant with her to today (she's a little over a year) but I bet that soup would be really good with polska kielbasa sausage
Dang, I just want to walk around and pick a bunch of prickly pears and send them to you. They have little thorns on them. I sat back on that type of cactus while hiking one day though and my doc was picking out the thorn things on my mind and for 45 minutes the next day😅😅😅

So I have a very womanly question for y’all. I’ve recently started wearing dresses and skirts exclusively, and I love it. It’s for modesty and femininity. But, on the first day or two of my cycle all I want to do is be in my sweatpants. Like even if I’m going out, I just feel blah so I want to be in my sweatpants and make a “cute” outfit out of it. Of course, I feel comfortable in my dresses and skirts, but they just look too dressy for my mood. 😂 what is your sweatpants day equivalent?
"grounding" is the term used for connecting with the Earth's energy when being barefoot against the Earth's surface. There's more to it than being a trendy word, it's an amazing thing! The next best thing to being barefoot is wearing minimalist shoes. For a different reason, though. That's geared toward those of us that aim to keep/fix our natural toe splay, posture and health.
It's not that weird to read the psalms when you're feeling down because you see you're really not alone in your sadness. And you can also sometimes realize that you're situation isn't as bad as what you're reading about.
Fun fact! “Grounding” we actually have larger pores in our feet bc it’s a way our body can absorb more things from the soil to nurture our gut bacteria and probably so much more. I love learning about things like this bc it’s points to how much God just knew what he was doing and has a plan for how we should be functioning. ❤❤❤
Grounding is not the trendy word for going barefoot. Standing on dirt does ground your body, just like in electrical outlets have to have a grounding wire, or bodies need to have a connection back to the earth. "Grounding appears to improve sleep, normalize the day-night cortisol rhythm, reduce pain, reduce stress, shift the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic toward parasympathetic activation, increase heart rate variability, speed wound healing, and reduce blood viscosity."
You two need to bring your Grandma on as a special guest. She sounds like a fun and wonderful lady. Would love to hear her wisdom about life.
I was talking to Grandma about this last night. She is unsure
I'd love to! Maybe she'd be more comfortable if it was audio only. But she is a gem!
Yes. I agree
OMG PLEASE 😮😮❤
Please do!!😊
jayna is such a lovely person. Consistently kind, patient, generous, spiritual, devout; listening to her calm, quiet wisdom never fails to bring comfort and peace.
She is a gem!
Those are kind words and I'd love if it was all always true. I do put on my best behavior for the podcast though 😂
Love you both!❤
@@jaynaburkholder1507 😂 Although I agree with the original comment, your response is 👌🏻! Lol
Going to bed early (if possible) is also one of my go-to’s! Sometimes you just need a good nights rest.
That's a good! Surprised we didn't think of it!

Jayna has my heart in this one.......the soup is borderline but the wardrobe personality debacle, list gagging, fun socks, and the angsty music 😍😂🤣😂
Hahaha! So nice to hear someone identifies with me 😅
Love to hear it!!

I think we all could use more hugs in life!
I took a philosophy course where we studied one of his books about love. I still have that book and it's 30 years later.
How about “open the windows”! I love airing out the house. It changes the energy and lifts my spirit.
That's a beautiful one! You guys are goooooddd!
You ladies are the best! I love these chats so much - such a huge Monday boost. Have a great week! 🩷

Hi Cheryl! In their defense (and yours!), I think Megan was saying their grandma is very "old order," not very "old." ☺️
This episode was the small thing that brightened my day today! Thanks for making it. ❤
So glad it did!
Sometimes when you feel in the slump… listen to Megan and jayna on honey I’m homemaker…🤣🤣
Love this!🎉
I agree!

Anne of Green Gables is the best ever!,
And I LOVE to read Grace Livingston Hill books when I feel down or overwhelmed.
This is a great video - loved it better than the last homemaker one 😅 ❤

DOABLE! That's the word we were going for! I might have to change.my title!!
Love your friendly banter. I can tell you have a good friendship but also different personalities! Thanks for all the tips and encouragement.
Thank you for sharing this video on my day that I'm struggling with not wanting to be around anyone including myself.
I just Love this video series. I enjoy hearing the little ways you guys are similar and appreciate the differences. Keep doing this one. It’s been great!
When God made homemakers he made a great thing! Y'all ladies hold the fort down after all! Valuable..no words can describe how much.🌷💠🏡
Hahahaha Goodness I was feeling so down when I started the episode and oh boy I had so much fun! God bless you ladies!

Yes 🙌 I made hotdog soup when my children were at home . Same way too .Decluttering definitely the star ⭐️

Day 4 of sicks kids and I needed this podcast to help me through the diffcult days.
So sorry about your sick kids😢 i hope they feel better soon. I know how hard that is.❤
The simplest thing I do is to smile. Just the act of smiling....the muscles you use...is somehow relaxing to the face. Like a micro-mini meditation. And EVERYONE is prettier with a smile on their face.
I love listening to Megan and Jayna while I do chores, or to help me go to sleep or just relax. (I also listen to true crime to relax 😂)
I love jayna 😊. She’s beautiful

Awww that's the sweetest thing to hear. I am so glad you love your robe.❤
Perfect timing I have needed a pick me up today! I love these videos- you girls inspire me thank you!💖🙏💖🙏💖🙏💖🙏💖
Mondays are blue for me from coming off of sunday/worship/and fellowship day. I love sundays
18:02 - “If I feel listless, make a list.” 😂
I go to a walking park along the ocean, smile and say Hi to those passing by, it always makes me feel closer to God and the world❤
Delete Instagram from your phone. Even if it’s just for a day or week even! Helps me so much.
Ok so my answer to retail therapy but not spending mlney is going to the library and properly browsing the books like its a bookshop before making my carefully considered book choice 😂
Very wise!!
Another great and inspiring video/podcast! Love listening !
All of these ideas were so great! Some of these I do too but also so many new ideas! I will be remembering these when I'm needing a pick me up. As always, love listening to you ladies chat. ❤️🤗
Great ideas, Ladies. Thank you for sharing. Love you both and it fun to hear these suggestions from different perspectives.
Wonderful video you both just keep getting better each time I see one, and you both are so great together and it is such a blessing to have family around all the time. Yes would love to see Grandma but understands how she feel but such wisdom. Till next time God Bless you both and your families . love from Kansas🥰
Love this video ladies! Definitely saving it to come back to later when I need ideas. God bless you both
I love this series so much.
Love this! So needful for a slow day!
You two crack me up!❤️
I love filming together! It's too fun!
Good! Lol🩷
I haven't read through all the comments, so not sure if someone already said this, but thought it was funny (an unintended pun) when Meghan suggested writing a list and followed up with "...when you're feeling 'listless.'" (ba-dam,-ching!) 😉
I totally thought about it. I wasn't even sure if she meant she was literally with out a list or not. I missed an opportunity to call out a pun. 😅
😂
Jayna made me laugh so much in this video. She is great. Thanks
I love the flamingo shirt. Flamingos are my favorite. I'd wear the shirt. I'm 37 and wear what I like and what's comfy.
Go wild shopping online for 20 minutes, throw a crazy amount of stuff in your basket, look at it, and then empty the basket.
Trivia Crack!!! I never have played any mobile games either, except...Trivia crack! Lol😅
Before I say it i haven't just had grilled hot dogs yet since I was pregnant but so far I haven't been able to do hot dogs since being pregnant with her to today (she's a little over a year) but I bet that soup would be really good with polska kielbasa sausage
Such good ideas! Love this discussion. Ideas for different personalities. Appreciate both of you being so honest.
Dang, I just want to walk around and pick a bunch of prickly pears and send them to you. They have little thorns on them. I sat back on that type of cactus while hiking one day though and my doc was picking out the thorn things on my mind and for 45 minutes the next day😅😅😅
Going for a walk makes me feel better!
Fresh flowers in the house 💐
Great podcast suggestions for women: "The Girl Defined Show" and especially for married/engaged women "Heaven in your Home" they are so good and have been life changing for me!!
Fantastic episode 🎉
This was amazing!🌿
can you talk about Target and how they are pushing trans agenda on kids ?
Ha, I too am a three square a day Hershey chocolate bar girl!! With hot coffee of course!!
I always look forward to your videos. It’s a holiday here in Nova Scotia Canada. I’m enjoying your video. Love your outfits.
Love Jayna's shirt...
BEST podcast recommendation if you're a mum......Courageous Parenting but Issac and Angie Tolpin.
I've heard of them. Thanks for the recommendation! ❤
Long knit maxi skirt or dress with a baggy sweatshirt in the winter. Athletic Skort with a t shirt in the summer. Preferably black. Lol
Jayna i like your flamingo shirt. Love the pink in it
Grounding scientific think negative and positive charges. Grounding takes negative charges out that are from WiFi ect.
Jayna: Where did you get the ear buds that you showed as your favorites? What brand are they? Thanks
We ate Schnitzel and garlic & sage Spatzel with broccoli 🥦 for dinner
When I’m sad I watch a sad movie and eat junk food. 😢but I think I’m gonna try reading the sad parts in the Bible. Like Lamentations or Job.
Loved this vlog it was a lot of fun. I got some good ideas. Although I do enjoy a good hotdog 🌭 now and then but hotdog soup, hmmmm. Lol
It's not that weird to read the psalms when you're feeling down because you see you're really not alone in your sadness. And you can also sometimes realize that you're situation isn't as bad as what you're reading about.
Hot dog soup actually sounds really yummy!!! Haha!
18:03 "I feel listless...make a list!" 😆 Insert rimshot here! 😅
We have a prickly pear cactus and we just made jelly with the fruit. Yummmy!!!!!
That sounds delicious!
Fun fact! “Grounding” we actually have larger pores in our feet bc it’s a way our body can absorb more things from the soil to nurture our gut bacteria and probably so much more. I love learning about things like this bc it’s points to how much God just knew what he was doing and has a plan for how we should be functioning. ❤❤❤
I am for sure going to try hit dogs in soup now.
I think I’m allergic to prickly pear. Had some wine made of the one time and I had bad dreams all night while I was sleeping.
Oh no!
The intro is cracking me up! 😂
My mom made hot dog soup too but we didn’t call it that 😅 it is delicious!
Jayna I love you😂
Jayna, I think hot dog soup sounds yummy!
I think her soup sounds great! I put them in omelettes.
Can you post the hotdog soup recipe?
I love wordle. Share with family.
Totally make a list 😂😂😂
Grounding is not the trendy word for going barefoot. Standing on dirt does ground your body, just like in electrical outlets have to have a grounding wire, or bodies need to have a connection back to the earth.
"Grounding appears to improve sleep, normalize the day-night cortisol rhythm, reduce pain, reduce stress, shift the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic toward parasympathetic activation, increase heart rate variability, speed wound healing, and reduce blood viscosity."
We call it penny soup, instead of hotdog soup....all the round items are like coins!...sliced hotdogs, potatoes, sliced baby carrots and peas!
Nice!
Hot dog soup isn’t too weird it’s kinda like smoked sausage in soup
This episode 😂😂😂
