    It’s crazy how a situation can drastically change a unit’s viability
    In CQ her strengths are very pronounced
    In rev she is one of the only decent early game units
    In br she just doesn’t have much to offer or gain

    the points about Mozu's paralogue are a little bit overstated. She can kill using dual strike and stay safe due to the terrain. not saying that it makes all the difference but it's not as hard as stated.

    Mozu and Kaze are in a very strange and sad boat where they're useless when used in the route in their own country because someone else does something better than them and their support benefits aren't all that great, but extremely good in Conquest due to being able to pass on really good classes and have unique class accessibility themselves. Training Mozu or using a Heart Seal/Master Seal to get her bows for Chapter 10 CQ is worth it, but she's a waste of a slot in BR beyond just being a decent cook in the Mess Hall sadly lmao.

      I actually think Rev Mozu is great.
      At least for the early chapters. By the time you reach her paralogue most of your units (4 lol) are already pretty high level because chapter 7 is meant for that. As a result her paralogue offers only pretty much support rank grinds because the exp will be minimal compared to other routes. This makes her the perfect level to train her. Bring a bronze bow and a heart seal (which you get a lot of in rev) and feed every kill to her. She'll be amazing for chapter 8 if you managed to level her bow rank up and levels a bit. She'll probably get quick draw in chapter 8 as well making her your best player phase unit on this map. Considering you can only bring 4 units there I usually replace Gunther with her as Gunter barely does anything at this point. He isn't bulky enough to survive compared to Dragonstone Corrin. He isnt fast and strong enough to one round most ennemies amd doesn't have any supports to build.
      edit: she is also a great unit in the following 4 chapters especially the Ninja one. her strengths are heightened because almost every single unit in rev comes underleveled basically useless aside from royals and a few exceptions.

      archer mozu is pretty good in rev, fliers are king in rev and mozu having access to a flying class (kinshi knight) with only 1 heart seal is pretty good, reina is also another fantastic flier unit you get for free but having 2 is better than 1

      Yeah, I am running a kinshi mozu in my current rev run, she does more damage with a silver bow and often also surefire bow than kinshi takumi at the same level can manage with his fujin yumi. It definitely requires a bit of effort to train her at first, but she gets quite strong.@@toade336

    Having used Master of Arms Mozu in my last Birthright run, one handy niche that I can attest to is that she's the best user of the great club on account of her crazy high skill. While it's arguably more fun than functional, splattering your enemies onto the wall is most definitely fun. That said, life and death is far from necessary on her, so it's really more of a detriment.
    Also she produces an absolutely cracked Rhajat.

    I feel you blown out of proportion how inefficient and hard it is to train mozu in her joining chapter.
    For efficiency, the most efficient route is always skipping her joining chapter. By the time this paralogue comes, the units you already have are over leveled, so they'll barely get exp outside of the boss and chip damage. If anything, this chapter is only worth weapon rank and support points, outside of obtaining Mozu, ofc.
    As for difficulty, there's almost no rush to advance in this chapter, just a couple of moving faceless, no biggie. The sketchy part you talked about was setting enemies to 1 hp, which is overkill. Just let Mozu start a Dual Strike, the supporting unit is the one giving the killing blow and securing Mozu's exp, no need for tonics (tho that helps) or pair up and no manically trying to leave enemies at 1.
    ...
    So yeah, no unit is losing a meaningful amount of resources for training Mozu and doing so isn't hard.

    • @badatlife
      @badatlife  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      The main benefit of leaving enemies at 1 HP is to allow her to get kills on enemy phase in addition to the one you'll be feeding her each player phase which allows you to finish the map within a reasonable turn count. One of my previous videos is a demonstration of how to raise both Hayato and Mozu to Level 5 while clearing the map in 11 turns, and doing that without leaving enemies at 1 or 3 HP would slow down the pace of that map to a crawl. And none of the top players on this channel is ever saying anything about Birthright is difficult, more just a waste of time.

    I haven’t watched much of the video yet but I wanted to get on my soapbox.
    I’m tired of fire emblem players saying growth units are bad. Growth units are enjoyable units to use and often become the most insanely overpowered units in your army to the point that they hard-carry. Base units’ ceiling is never as high and if you only use them your late game will be painful.
    By going through the challenge of nurturing growth units they pay off exponentially which is very rewarding and part of the fun of fire emblem.
    Everyone crapped on Donnel in awakening and Anna in engage until they realized: wait, not using these units actively makes my team less than optimal by the end.

    • @matthewkuscienko4616
      @matthewkuscienko4616 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like the problem with the kodachi is that a lot of sword users in Birthright are fast and on the more fragile side, so not being able to double with it equipped cam prove to be more of a hindrance than a help. Even a more bulky unit that uses swords like Silas has had a lot of players warming up to the idea of using him as a master ninja, which is much more fragile than the paladin or great knight. The reason why Ryoma is able to make up for this shortcoming is because his Raijinto doesn't take away doubling and the like while being 1-2 ranged

      Funny thing is, Donnel is generally considered bad anyway. His bases are utterly laughable (every non-HP stat except Luck at 4 or less is really bad, especially when the chapter immediately after has only 6 slots, with wyverns in the chapter after that. Long story short, Donnel needs copious grinding to be usable... but unlike Amelia, Ross or Ewan, he doesn't level up any faster than anyone else (to put things into perspective, Ross, Ewan and Amelia get *at least* the same experience for DAMAGING an enemy as Donnel gets for KILLING one). This means he needs to try to get 9 levels worth of kills with bottom grade base stats, just to leave Villager (with the use of a valuable Second Seal)... and even then, it still isn't smooth sailing for him.

    “Only Useless Unit” yet simultaneously one of the games best units? What the hell?
    Im not saying this as a joke, in Conquest especially she is REALLY good, I don’t like her that much as a character but easily the best Archer besides Takumi. Really good strength, skill, and especially speed growths but overall is very well balanced and can also tank a few hits. Her starting class being bad is the reason you immediately reclass her to an archer in the same chapter, use it to grind her experience and for the rest of the game she’s one of your best units.
    In Birthright, I can understand. You have access to better archers that don’t require the same investment. But in Conquest, units like Niles are honestly not *that* great, with the only benefit being their movement. Pair Mozu with a mounted unit and that mostly covers it.
    Either that or i’ve had INSANELY good luck with her stat growths every time i’ve played.

    • @matthewkuscienko4616
      @matthewkuscienko4616 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Okay, firstly, you're comparing Birthright to Conquest, and while they are both games in Fire Emblem Fates, comparing the 2 just does NOT WORK because they are completely different in both what characters you have access to playing with and maps you play the game on. Because of this, playing the 2 routes is a difference of night and day, and in my more recent playthroughs of Birthright, I have come to better understand why bows are not as good in Birthright as they are in Conquest, and that's largely due to how many enemies you're often expected to take on at once (something that bow units are not good at, thanks to them often being fragile and not having a 1-range attack when every other weapon type in the game does), as well as arguably the fact that there are many more potential bow users -- the fact alone that the mechanist is an often highly recommended class choice for physical units serves to only highlight this fact, and even then, you don't see much, if any talk about them equipping a bow. Having said that, a big part of why bow users are so valued in Conquest is partly because they aren't as common to have on your team as other unit types, so any character that can use one is automatically made more valuable than they would be otherwise because they are able to bring something to the table that other units cannot as easily...........
      ..................But AGAIN, this is comparing to Conquest specifically, which plays differently to Birthright, a game that both has more bow units readily available to use in it (3 of the 4 royals either start in a bow class or can promote into one in Birthright), while also not being as friendly to bows as Conquest tends to be. This is were the whole "only useless unit yet simultaneously one of the best" statement you quoted comes from: Mozu is good in Conquest, but decidedly not as useful in Birthright, because, AGAIN, and apparently this cannot be stated enough -- Birthright and Conquest are 2 different games! Just look at all the videos on this channel on ths various units in the game and what is said in each of them about what makes a unit good in Birthright and it becomes pretty apparent that not only is the roster overall different, but what makes a unit good is about a combination of (usually) bulk to tank hits well and having 1-2 range attacks, both if which decidedly don't favor bow users, of which generally have niether of these traits -- the first analysis video made by this channel was on Takumi, probably specifically to highlight why being a bow unit in Birthright is not what you want.
      With all this in mind, Mozu getting good stat gains on her level ups is nothing that crazy, considering she has effectively 50% growths or better in most of her stats thanks to aptitude giving each an additional 10% -- and because this is before taking class growths into the equation, it's not hard to push all her growths to 60-70% -- if not better -- when looking at her class as well. Because of this, it's hardly unusual for her to get good stat gains from leveling up

    10:40 Curious, what would be your choice for that first Heart Seal? Conquest has Elise and Mozu as obvious choices, while Birthright seems to have mostly units that are great in what they are, or bad enough that reclassing won't fix them unless you just want to have fun with some wacky builds.

    From my experience with birthright lunatic, it was pretty much Ryoma, Silas, and Shiro tanking a million hits and chipping at the enemies bit by bit. Very slow and boring, but it worked. Revelations was similar, but instead of Silas and Shiro, Xander and Benny. Mozu could at least help kill things on Rev, but not on birthright where you often need everyone to take a hit.

      I'm not really that experienced in BR or Fates in general, but Kitsune's focus on not much other than skill, speed, and luck means that low damage and mediocre survivability is all Kaden really has. His skills are pretty mediocre too, and his child is just as meh as he is. I think it's more about usability than anything; in a route filled with high skill/speed/resistance characters, he comes out to be the one with the least niches. He's okay, usable even, but doesn't fill any really important role.

    Why are archer bad in BR. In CQ there's plenty of chapters that enable Bows to Enemy Phase, either by making the layout of the map full of impasible terrain (ninja cave, the opera boats, pots, walls in general) or leaving squads of bow locked units (Setsuna's room, boat map outlaws, Takumi's archer / sniper squads). The last one puzzles me, do Bow Knights always bring sword? Are there no outlaws / adventures?

    • @Scepti
      @Scepti 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      > "In CQ there's plenty of chapters that enable Bows to Enemy Phase"
      Unfortunetly this is not CQ and later BR makes these chapters much much rarer, the majority of maps in Birthright are a lot more wide open, and when there are walls they're usually 2 or 3 tiles thick unlike the tiny 1 tile wide walls that CQ uses to let you bow EP over them, Birthright enemy placements also usually have enemies lined up horizontally or vertically rather than diagonally like CQ does, so having overlapping 2 range enemies with 1-2 range enemies is much rarer than in CQ
      Right around Takumi's join time BR does have a lot more positions where enemies overlap or there are 1 tile thick walls, (My personal theory is that this was intentional by the devs to make Takumi look better than he really is) but starting from C14 onwards those oppurtunities basically just completely disappear and the maps become more of the typical heavily open BR maps that heavily hurt bowlocked units
      As for enemy types, yes lategame Bow Knights are almost always packing a sword and then are positioned in such a way that you can't stand at the exact edge of all of their ranges at once, adventurers are incredibly rare outside of Shura's map and Outlaws are so incredibly frail that the Bow's ability to double them on EP isn't an advantage when a lance/sword/axe can just OHKO them with the Javelin/Kodachi/Throwing Club
      That's not to say that Bow enemy phase is entirely hopeless, you can if you put your mind to it find ways to do it, but it usually involves taking empty attacks and using those enemies to create your own walls to begin sweeping behind, but it is almost always more resource intensive to pull off than using 1-2 range or even 1 range despite the higher stats of Yumis compared to Daggers.

    BR Mozu is bad largely because she's... unnecessary.
    CQ really wants a Bow User with good defenses to take Ninja counter attacks, aka, Mozu that doesn't get screwed.
    There really isn't a place for her in BR inbetween all the bow competition; Takumi is commonly used, Setsuna has speed at least, and an arguably better use of the first Heart Seal is Azama who gets a bow and has crazy bases + growths.
    BR Mozu is best used as fodder for a partner that wants Archer, or a child that wants Aptitude or won't suffer from her poor class transfer (she doesn't pass down good stat mods either).
    For all the Mozu babying in Villager, you feed a lot of XP and time into a unit that probably will never be as good as Oboro in the time you would use one of them, and Oboro comes ready to go.

    • @LoudWaffle
      @LoudWaffle 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah archers aren't really needed in BR because it's so enemy phase-focused, but even if you want to use one Takumi has the same generalist stat spread as Mozu, and an amazing personal bow. And then the villager class line just isn't good (by itself), not to mention as you said you already have a good foot-locked lance user.
      CQ also has the unique thing that the big climax for the earlygame is chapter 10, which has lots of fliers for a Bowzu to shoot down for free exp.
      Even on Lunatic, a level 1 Archer!Mozu with a Bronze Bow +2 is still capable of one-shotting all of the fliers (exact damage!), so despite taking a heart seal she is pretty low investment to carry her weight in a chapter many people consider very hard. And this also happily gets her out of the earlygame rut which she's so badly stuck in for BR.

    Honestly... I am of the mind that the issues that plague Mozu in Birthright are still present in other routes. For example, needing to set up kills for her... with the issue that the one doing the setup might just kill instead if they level strength. Also, as Faceless have a big fat goose egg for luck, they're susceptible to critical hits. What's more, there's no surefire way to set up kills without one of two randomly obtained weapons. All of this makes raising Mozu a hard sell, even in Conquest, where she is supposedly good... as does the fact that I have to sandbag everyone else for her to be good. Also, I wouldn't consider her the only useless unit in Birthright *glares at Setsuna and Hayato*.
