saizo is mystifying to me. mostly because in every iron man i use him, he dies before i get asugi. i really, really like using him. and i keep telling myself "alright, this time, ill just play safe with saizo". but then i just have too much fun and rush him in only for him to just eat ass and die
Finally, a video on my favorite character in Fates! He's got great stats, great writing at least for Fates, a badass design-- "I'm just gonna get this out of the way...I don't like using Saizo in Birthright". Why even live?
I'm very surprised you didn't mention Saizo/Felicia. +4 speed at C, the magic pairup is relevant if you do anything with Flame Shuriken, Felicia arguably benefits more from ninja than almost any other unit due to being able to pick up Shurikenfaire/Replicate extremely early, and Saizo can easily go into Butler at some point to grab Tomebreaker without caring about weapon ranks. But if you always play F!Corrin it gets a lot worse I guess.
He's my favorite unit in this game. I love using him and on my 3DS I have pretty much all skills available in the game on him because I marry him like every time. You can get Vantage and duplicate on him pretty easily. By marrying a fighter/mercenary Corrin he also gets access to sol which is really sweet gives him a lt more more bulk and his high skill is just peak.
Funny that the game with arguably the best customization of units, outside 3h which also suffers from this is that it can be boiled down to "just pick mechanist". Makes me not even want to use the class even though i think it looks really cool.
Simple, just dont use replicate. Makes the class seem way worse since all you'll have is golembane which is pretty bad and maybe a reason for replicate being that good lol

Yes it makes them Broken, but even without it we still have a 7-Movement class with a 1-2 Range Weapon and good bulk (which is hard to come by in Birthright). Even if everyone personally banned Replicate, Mechanist is just the most reliable class in the game from Stats alone.

I once rolled Saizo with Sakura to turn him into a Great Master, at the time I only did it cause I thought he would look cool in the class, unaware how powerful he really is in it.
Saizo is probably one of the few units who is actually better in rev than in their base game as his base stats are decent for his join time so he can start putting in work as soon as he joins, something a lot of units in rev struggle with due to later join times and the same bases. Where Saizo really shines are the 3 new supports they gave him which fixes the few issues he had in Birthright. A friendship support with Laslow gives him access to the mercenary class and skills which he makes great use of. While you could still make him a merc in BR by marrying him to Corrin, there are other units who can make more out of it than him while also making Kana better like his son Asugi. Now he can get the class without taking resources from others with the only downside of this being how late Laslow joins and how poor of a unit he is so you usually have to have him serve as a backpack for Saizo for a few maps just to unlock the support. This already helps Saizo a lot but his 2 new marriage options make him even better. Charlotte gives him the fighter class which is another way to get Sol and has the best pair bonuses in the game which Saizo makes great use of while Beruka gives him access to wyverns which is always a good class to be in. Overall, Rev Saizo got a whole buffet while everyone else was only given a fortune cookie.

I've been playing through Birthright recently, and I've found that I kinda like pairing Saizo with Felicia since she helps patch up his weaknesses. She gives 4 speed at C support which helps him out a lot early on.
I know that this is unrelated to the video, but if you do Sakura at some point (or if you could answer as soon as you read the comment just as well), can she do the same heart seal strategy like Elise could in conquest? Like you know how people discovered how effective heart sealing Elise early in conquest could be? Could Sakura pull the same tricks Elise could as a Sky Knight or is it too much hassle for this to work?
He's got an older video reclassing Sakura on chapter 8. It's doable, and the eventual Bolt Naginata build is quite fun. But the early heart seal cost is pretty high.
Honestly if I want a high strength shruiken unit I prefer mechanist azama. Saizo’s good but he’s very bland kind of good. Also quick salve be very nice on a replicate unit to heal the damage you took on counter attack. Sometimes it can even be beneficial to actively choose to get counter attack by a 1 range only/ 2 range only enemy late game then quick salve on the replica to gain extra guard gauge. Apothecary’s skills have more synergy going into mechanist then ninja in my experience can be very handy
I hope the next units you analyze is rinkah or felica, especially felica I feel gets disregarded because jakob is just so broken but she has her own niches and is a really good unit if shes the first servant so it would be really interesting to see you guys thoughts on her!

Im no expert but I think sky knight lacks the strength and other great class growth Sakura could use
