Laszlo Papp - Was a Hungarian professional boxer from Budapest. A southpaw, he won gold medals in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, and the 1956 Summer Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia. In his final Olympic competition, he beat José Torres later the professional light-heavyweight world champion, for the gold medal, to become the first boxer in Olympic history to win three successive gold medals. It was a remarkable run of Olympic Boxing supremacy, in that of his 13 Olympic fights, he won 12 of them without losing a round, and dropped only a single round in his last final - to Torres. There would not be another triple gold medalist for 20 years, when Teofilo Stevenson won three, followed by Felix Savon as the latest one of the three men to accomplish the feat.

At first he wanted to be a footballer, but God made him a boxer too. :)
As a trainer he had many successful students, the last one being István Kovács 'Kokó', who won everything a boxer could imagine.
He was an amateur European champion, amateur world champion, Olympic champion, professional European champion, professional world champion.

His counter lead right hook was absolutely incredible. He has good left hand counters as well, but the timing and accuracy on that right hook was something else. Really makes you wonder how great some of these guys living under the iron curtain could have been if they were just given the opportunity.

Mr. Daniel's Hungary's Communist leadership brought his professional career to an end by denying him an exit visa. The reason for this was that professional boxing was not permitted in Communist Hungary and the government resented Papp's successful by-passing of the restriction by staging his fights abroad. - Taken from his Wikipedia page.

Incredibly calculative fighter. That right hook is ridiculously adaptive and deceptive, quick, powerful... like it has a mind of its own. Setting up traps with it, pressuring his opponents, doin' the dance thing, exposing, opening then BAM... outta nowhere, striking down. This guy was a mad genius... incredibly cunning... patient, educated. I'm impressed.

I think he would be the greatest Middleweight ever if they had let him go to the USA. Not that his pro career was even bad, still got some decent opponents and cruised through every fight winning the European title back when that was the equivalent of having a world title today. It's sad because there must have been so many Eastern Europeans in exactly the same position then, if GGG who got a silver medal at the Olympics fought before the 90s he'd probably have then retired and worked in a factory or something rather than going pro and no one would ever have even heard about him.
