I love me some In Flames, especially the older stuff. "The Jester Race" is arguably the best melodic death metal album of all time. If you like vocal contrast, Alena, you guys may want to check out Cradle of Filth's "Nymphetamine Fix."
And if you have not heard the band Wormwood, i strongly recommend them.....A pretty new and unknown Swedish melodeath/mbm band that is awesome! Both albums...
There are the 2 ballads from reroute to remain: "dawn of the new day" is the best. "cloud connected" is listenable for Alena. "The chosen pessimist" is probably the most emotional.
Otherwise almost every song is melodic musically speaking. Their structures is far better in the album jester race but Anders didn't know he could sing.
Otherwise the bands Soilwork and Dark Tranquillity are a good alternative but no opera singer. You have to try Therion for that.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions I'm listening the album colony. It was an eternity since the last time, still great. She has to go through this but it won't be easy. She needs to concentrate on the music if the singers scream too much. That's what I do sometimes but I play guitar and love drums so it's easy to set aside vocals. I'm like her, I prefer female singers so I understand even if I also like deep growls death metal style. The best will be that metal bands play with an orchestra because it's even more powerful. "Unfortunately", Nightwish is at the top of this genre. Epica, Delain, Within Temptation, Therion and others are very good but below them. I'm also a huge fan of Tori Amos, Eivor, Aurora... wonderful voices, great musicians and writers.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Children of bodom will be great but even the vocals are annoying for me, like the tune of the keyboard. Dream Theater is amazing but the singer doesn't fit very well most of the time.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Wait a little bit for Infant Annihilator :) There are a lot of great bands with female singer but they are not famous. That means not many views for you and a lot gave up making music. exemple: Crysalys, Unleash the Archers, Operatika, Unexpect, the sins of thy beloved, Xandria, a few bands with Anneke van Giersbergen and Liv Kristin. Of course you don't have to make videos for all these suggestions, you can listen to them in private. That should help her to get used to the metal music.
A big step will be bands like Jinjer, the Agonist, iwrestleabearonce with clean and harsh vocals from women. Everything with Julie Christmas is amazing, she's unique, I can't describe her voice.
She's probably able to like heavy metal with male singer: Iron Maiden, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth. Even a good old Guns'n'Roses, Metallica, perhaps Megadeth... she liked Anthrax so...
I mentionned Tori Amos, Eivor and Aurora but it's not metal even if Aurora favorite band is Gojira and Tori is also a metalhead. I can add Sigur Ros, of monsters and men, Mammút, Sóley, Emiliana Torrini, all from Iceland. If you want your channel not to be only metal.
Another option is instrumental music: Animals as Leaders, a lot of post-rock and djent. I think both of you should be happy with all the genres available but I don't know what kind of music she listens to usually. I like classical music (Vivaldi, Bach, Beethoven) but not pure opera, above all if a guy sings. Sorry for the long comments. I just try to "help"
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Okay. I listen metal since 25 years, I started at 10. I'm old enough to have seen Nightwish live with Tarja (and touched her hand). Back then Cannibal corpse was the most extreme music, now it is pop/death metal compared to some bands :) I only liked metal but I have grown up. 1st time I've listen to Tori Amos, I was addicted after 1 minute of "bliss". It take me some time to love Pink Floyd and Meshuggah. I discovered them with the song "vanished" but the album chaosphere was the key. I've had a few years to go from Nirvana to Cannibal corpse, passing by Slayer because we had to buy CDs and there weren't thousands metal bands. Now it's much easier with youtube but I'm far away from knowing everything. The problem is the lack of time with all the good music available today, only 24 hours a day. Your set up is fine but if it takes 2 hours to build it up... Much respect, also because I won't be able to share my "knowledge" in front of a camera. I had only 1 girlfriend who listened metal and it was much better even if she had other issues, like being borderline.
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions We all have a different story about music and different tastes. I'm curious about the path that Alena will choose. It's funny to make some predictions but I have no idea if I'm right. I have to wait and bleed...no, wait and see :)
I've never been into punk or neo metal. I was already searching for more brutal and technical stuff when Green Day or Slipknot arrived. A bit the Offspring, that's all. I kinda hate Rammstein. If I want some punk: the Exploited "beat the bastards" or Slayer "indisputed attitude". I discovered System of a Down on a tour with Slayer and Sepultura, it was OK. Never been into black metal either, a few bands excepted.
Another relaxing music I forgot to mention: the Moon and the Nightspirit, qntal... some folk with angelic voices. It's worth the trip. In my view, Eluveitie is the perfect combinaison of folk and (heavy death)metal, the "Nightwish" of this surprising genre.

Hello from Brazil. Great video, I love this band, also the Nightwish reactions. You should try to react do Angra, it's a Brazilian Metal Band that has an army kinda like the Nightwish's one. If you do, I suggest Spread Your Fire, it's a great song with some classical stuff.
Yeah, you guys have to do The Chosen Pessimist, no doubt about it. There’s a live version from the same show as this.

Stay With Me from their newest album "I, the Mask" is probably my favorite In Flames ballad. Worth giving a shot ;)
Not a huge fan of their recent work either but Sounds Of A Playground Fading was a really good album to listen to - they are one of the pioneers of melodic death metal alongside Dark Tranquility and they've been doing this for over three decades - a lot of the "popular" metalcore bands of today actually draw their influence from this.

Another song with a nice blend of melodic death metal and femal cleans is Dark Tranquillity - Insanity's Crescendo [Where Death Is Most Alive]. Live version.
I liked this reaction. If she likes the Beauty and the Beast vocals (growls and clean female vocals), Theatre of Tragedy could be something for her to react to. They are the pioneers in this vocal style. There are a few live performances off their Last Curtain Call Tour. It is a band from Stavanger, Norway, but the male vocalist and main songwriter is from Hungary. The female singer is Nell Sigland. She was the second singer of the band replacing Liv Kristine.
The songs from the Last Curtain Call DVD that shows the Beauty And The Beast vocals are: Hide and Seek, Bring Forth Ye Shadow, A Rose For The Dead, or A Hamlet For Slothful Vassal. I personally would begin with Hide and Seek.

@@BradAlenaMetalReactions well, i guess you did like many fans, at some point their music changed a lot, but the last album is a sort of a comeback to the origins of the band, not exactly like in the begining but not so far
