Overall, Burma has been probably one if not the most breathtaking country we ever travelled. Despite officially being one of the poorest place in the world, we found very industrious and friendly people.
Yangon: the capital is not too bad to spend 2 days (no more). The Shwedagon Paya at sunset is an inspirational place while walking around in the city center will reveal magnificent and huge colonial buildings, often abandoned. One memorable experience was to take the train to Bagan. What was supposed to be a 14h journey over 600km ... turned to be a 20h journey across magnificent landscape. The very slow speed of the train and the big open windows gave the feeling to be cycling in the Burmese country side.
Once in Bagan, the magnificence of this country came to the peak. The 2,000 temples immersed in a green landscape are amazing. Exploring them is an experience that is at the same time cultural (for the history), mystical (they are still places of worship) and athletical (you can climb on top of the roof on most of them). Buddhist temples are not only places to prey, but their courts are places to meet and spend time with the family. In Bagan, thanks to the help of a group of local women, me also manage to get a ride and navigate, for a little while, the Irrawady river, the main river of Myanmar.
The Inle Lake was our next stop after Bagan. While it’s utterly beautiful, it’s probably the most touristic place in Myanmar and that spoils a bit the atmosphere. Anyway, watching the local fishermen fishing at sunset is something breathtaking. Inle Lake is not the only attraction here. After we were done with the lake, we move exploring the hills of the surrounding area, where agriculture is the main occupation for the population. We even discovered a wine estate producing very good white and red wines.
The last part of our trip was Mrauk-U, a remote rural village at the border with Bangladesh. This was the capital of the Rakhine State and during the 1500 - 1600 AD, was one of the most important cities in Asia. We looked at a painting done in the 1600 and shows a big city with long walls, a quarter for European merchants and a number of vessels and ships trading in the port. Now, the remaining temples and walls are to be found in the wheat fields.
Love to see Myanmar

My country ,my home.Whatever people say,I love Myanmar in my heart deeply. And, of course, I am really proud of being Myanmar.
People don’t have to say nothing. It’s sad that your own people in these villages, that forgotten , probably more hidden due to mankind, feel so sorry for the women and children
I have something for you which you will like: th-cam.com/video/xzVcqHYCxow/w-d-xo.html

Your excellent video really touched me, particularly the segment on Bagan and the Ayeyarwaddy River. I am a native of Yangon, Myanmar. I left my home in 1978 to widen my horizons. So far, I have traveled to 45 countries around the world and saw many wonderful sights, embraced different cultures, enjoyed the friendship and kindness of the local people in each place. I consider myself a citizen of the world now, but my heart will always be in my beloved homeland of Myanmar.
Thanks for the kind words
Love from India :D

Real cool guys...heading to Myanmar later this month and can't wait to just kick back and explore Bagan at ease...my plan is Yangon, Bagan, Inle and Mandalay. Is it worthwhile to do the trip to the cave with the 1000 Buddha figureines.....happy travels, ciao
hey Saurav how was the trip in the end were all four destinations worth it and did u go to the cave in the end?? also what was ur timescale
Thanks for posting this. I felt like I just took a trek to Burma without leaving my recliner. You guys looked like you enjoyed it and you captured interesting points of interest without belaboring it.
Thank you for this beautiful video. I Knew nothing about this country, even if it exist but now I know at least that they have their own way of living. I love and wish to visit one day. Myanmar is a country in Asia with China on North, Bangladesh on west, Bhutan on North-west, Laos and Thailand on East.
Wonderful documentary... great destination!
Lovely film, thank you! I am headed to Myanmar in December. Can't wait!

The balloons in Myanmar are so iconic. I've visited there a few times while dreaming, but unfortunately not yet in real life yet haha.

wow - i want to see bagan of course. that watertown with houses on stilts was very interesting and beautiful. I'd love to visit the country.
Thank you
Myanmar is a good country to visit.
Indeed it is, we could not agree more
The quality of the filmmaking in some of these shots is...amazing
+Kylie Putman thanks!!
Loved this thank you! I will be visiting in January and can't wait. How long do you think is ideal for Bagan and Inle Lake? Also, if you did your trip all over again would you still do the (very bumpy) train ride, or would you chose to get the bus or fly instead? Thanks!
3 full days at Bagan, 2 at Inle (unless you want to to the trek, then you need more). The train was the best part and would do again and again. It's bumpy but because its slow, you can connect with the outside landscape. In a bus you are squeezed in a seat with air con and closed windows. In the train you can move and make friends
Nice 👍
Thank you
I love Myanmar,Llng live beautiful people of Myanmar hope to visit you one day.
I have something for you which you will like: th-cam.com/video/xzVcqHYCxow/w-d-xo.html
3:46 Why is food on the ground next to the train track?
3:50 Are the train tracks really that bad?
Yes, it was food. It was sunset time, so I think were the leftover of a local market that took place on/near the tracks. Yes, the train was particularly bumby, the train tracks were never on a proper straight line. Hopefully they have improved since then
sooooooooooooooo good thanks
all lovely🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝🏝
Thank you
Is it more different like Thailand?sorry i ist asking cause ist near to india and i dont understand Beef between them
Haven't visited Thailand besides Bangkok, so difficult to tell. I understand there are a lot of similarities, though Thailand is much more advanced
@@GuglielmoBiason thx
What a magnificent country. When did you go there ? And was it easy to get to Mrauk-U ? (Thinking of the Rakhines' condition there ...)
+Victoria Leroy Thanks! We went there early January 2015. Going to Mrauk-U was a long journey. You need to get the plane from Yangoon, find a taxi and go immediately to find the boat that will take you to Mrauk-U. We arrived around midnight. In theory you should spend a night at Sittwe but you can do in one day if you are quick and organised before. When we were there we didn't see signs of Rakhines' situation that hitted the news during the last year
Lovely country lovely people and lovely culture. Beautiful Buddha _/\_. nice presentation btw.

How long was your trip in total? I'm looking to do a similar trip this December and would have a maximum of 3 weeks. Thanks for the video by the way I really enjoyed it. The balloon moment was breathtaking!

We too! 👍
hi! Thank you for posting this. I'm visiting Myanmar this November and want to travel the same route as yourself. What mode of transportation did you use and how long between the spots? Thanks!
Spent 1 full day in Yangoon, then we took the overnight train to Bagan. We spent 3 full days and then we got to the Inle lake via an overnight bus (leaving Bagan at 10pm, you arrive at ca 5am). We spent 3 full days at the lake an then we took another overnight bus to Yangon and then a full day of travel via plane (Yangon - Sitwe) and boat to reach Mrauk-U where we spent 1 full day + another day to come back to Yangon. Feel free to shout for any question
Hi, traveller greeting from Nepal
Hello there!
🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲🇲💞💞💞💞💞💞 i love MYANMAR
yes our train is really funny
u can get different experience
thanks for visit myanmar
i like your vlog
!!! I love myanmar 😍
Awesome vid! I'll be in Myanmar in june/july 2017. Question tho, how much costs a balloon trip per person?
Hi, if I remember correctly it was around $300 pp
Hi friend, Jun to August is raining season in MYANMAR and you will face heavy rain in sometimes during your trip. The best time to there is November to January and you will see winter season during the time. Anyway, if you don't have experience for raining season then you can go. 😄
zaw myo Aung
thank you for your comment. The reason I'm going to Myanmar in july/august is because of my school system and vacation time. However, I do have experience with raining season and I kinda like it!
BREAKING NEWS: UNESCO has declared Myanmar’s ancient capital of Bagan as a World Heritage Site, nearly a quarter of a century after the complex of Buddhist temples was first nominated for listing. The Myanmar proposal to list the site was approved at a meeting of the U.N.’s cultural body in Baku, Azerbaijan. The decision recognises the importance of the central Myanmar site - which includes more than 3,500 stupas, temples, monasteries and other structures built between the 11th and 13th centuries - and will likely be a boon to Myanmar’s tourist industry. The Myanmar proposal to list the site was approved at a meeting of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Baku, Azerbaijan on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
LETS HELP THESE PEOPLE !!!
Do we look like we need help? :/
My favourite country on the entire planet.
More than a land: Motherland.
Going in there is taking a journey into the soul.
Go to Burma, my Friend, you will not regret. I love that country so much...
I love your words Valentina. I've only visited 7 countries in my short 25 years, but I felt so whole when I visited here. Can't wait to return x
As long as everything works out with my visa, I should be going for a year to work for a school that has hired me in late May, with my wife. Do you have any advice?

@Guglielmo Biason Nice documentary ! Loved it
Amazing Video
loved your video, u all seem to be funny guys to hang out with. Quick questions please, 1) how long was the boat ride with the local women? I would love to do the same, How can I accomplish that? 2) did the boat bring u back to same spot u boarded? my last question: 3) what month of the year were u in Myanmar>? it seems u had a great sunny clear weather in Myanmar.4) Did u need any permit to visit Mrauk-U? how safe is to visit there now in 2018? Grazie, Chao
Sebastian Ariel Burd hi, so going in order 1a) if you mean the boat with the women in Bagan, this is a short ride, probably 30 min each way. It brings you from Bagan “pier” to a village on the other side of the river where you can climb a hill and visit a monastery. I truly recommend. Yes, the boat brought us back on the same spot 1b) if you mean the boat from Sittwe to Mrauk-U this is a different story. 6-7h journey. 2) see above 3) we went in early January. Best timing is from late Nov to March. 4) At the time Mrauk-U was fine although there were probably less than 10 foreigners in the entire town. I think is still achievable but you need to check with local sources. Allow 24h to get there ans 24h to come back. Feel free to ask more questions if in doubt!
Thanks Guglielmo, I wish I met you guys, u seem to be fun to travel with, Love italians. I will be in Myanmar from nov 3 to 18, crossing my fingers I get good weather, not high humidity and rain so I can enjoy more and take awesome pictures. Crossing my fingers to be able to do the hot air balloon as well. Mrauk U is a must, not this time due to lack of time, but I will def. visit that magical place. Grazie and ciao
Hi, just wondering what month of the year you visited Myanmar?
It was the first weeks of January
Incredible video

I was there before the accident and after. Dramatic change. I guess it's a bit too late to visit this beautiful place - it's never gonna be the same. What happened you can see in my latest video. Yes, I am telling you about my last video but I do believe that you are ought to know.
