- Breaks in the retina can be called as retinal tears or holes.
The main pathophysiology behind retinal breaks is degeneration, vitreoretinal traction and trauma.
The main types of retinal breaks are as follows:-
Atrophic retinal hole
*Operculated retinal hole
*Horse Shoe shaped tear / Flap tear
*Giant retinal tears
*Giant retinal dialysis
All the above retinal breaks have been discussed in this video, including how to identify them , their risk of progression to a retinal detachment and whether or not prophylactic laser is needed or not for each type.
