I had the Orbea Wild FS you’re spot on it’s a great bike but it doesn’t like changing direction but it’s so fast !! I’m getting a Rise soon hopefully I won’t regret it 😊😅
Good to know you can dial it up a bit. I think if you get an e bike you can do more steep trails, How does it fair on steeper tighter trails, does it handle better than a full fat?
Personally I think the lighter bike handles better on the steeper tighter stuff as it’s easier to move around and also control the speed on. The heavier full powered bikes get very fast on the steep sections with their weight but it all depends on what you are comfortable with I suppose!
I almost did the same thing. I ended up getting a yt decoy mx and a levo alloy comp for a bit more money. I put a Fox 38 170mm grip 2 on levo and put the better damper in yt's zeb.
I upped my front fork to 160 mm on my Orbea Rise. It's great. And at the moment it's mulletted because the Raceface rear hub broke and is being replaced. So I'm using a 27.5 from my other bike on it. Also bought the battery extender. Love the Rise!
Brendan, likewise had my Rise Race Face Hub pack in. Seems to be quite a common issue and not sure if Race Face Vault hubs are fit for ebikes. Changed the rear wheel for DT Swiss so will see how that goes.
@@brendan1 Had a couple of rides on the DT Swiss and it feels great. My rear hub started having issues after about 6 mths, there would be this awful pinging noise and a slip in the transmission. Initially thought it was a gear shift issue and replaced the cassette, exactly the same symptoms occurred. Pulled the Race Face hub apart (simple job) and found the pawl faces were all rounded, hence the slipping, likewise the 60 tooth drive hub was rounded as well. Clearly the forces transmitted in an ebike are massive compared to a regular mtb yet manufacturers just fit standard mtb parts which they claim are ebike compatible. We have all tried to climb stuff on an mtb and we have stalled out due to gravity etc, yet on an ebike it drives us over the same obstacles with ease. The forces involved must be considerably more to accomplish this. I guess if you only ride fire roads to access trails then the Race Face hubs might last for a long time. However for me in the North of Scotland I do like some steep uphill, couple of videos here. th-cam.com/video/jIdmDjlFAAY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/EoZKznmI30w/w-d-xo.html&t
@@-ewen I replaced the pawls, springs, AND the free hub, but the Vault still did exactly as you described. I've now been almost two months without my Raceface wheel. Good thing my 27" Spank / DT Swiss rear wheel works great, otherwise my summer would be gone. And I also climb some steep stuff here in the Rocky Mountains next to Calgary, Canada. I'll check out your videos. Thanks!
Cat, I thought you had a ‘low flying’ endorsement,or was the owner reluctant to let you prise it from his grasp? I want to see you ripping this trail!😁
What are the people who designed the Rise thinking, only 140mm and 150mm? Why didn’t they design it with different geometry and longer travel? Oh! Wait I know why, because that would be a different bike built for a different purpose. But I’m sure the people who buy short travel bikes and try to redesign it into something it’s not, know better than the guys at Orbea, right?
Hi Todd, fair point but regardless people will still experiment with bikes and suspension so the video is just talking people through if they were considering doing it. It’s not meant to offend anyone so apologies if you personally didn’t enjoy it, that’s not my aim at all on this channel.
I didn’t know I needed an orbea rise before I started watching this channel, I have one now and the likes of this video is very informative now.
Ah thanks a mill for the lovely comment!! And thanks for watching the channel. The rise is a class machine! 🙌
Same here :-)

It is so fast isn’t it, it just points down and it’s gone!! Good luck with the rise and I’d say you’re going to love it!! 🙌
Also that trail looks pretty scary! At least for my skills. Maybe one day :)
It’s a mental trail!!! 😱🤣
I thought with that emerald green they were in Thailand or someink. But the accents gave it away! Emerald Isle.
Ha ha we wish, the weather would be very nice!!

Sounds great be interesting to see your thoughts on the difference between the fox and the zeb!
@@CatMTBPilot so far the Fox kicks a$$. Still trying to dial in the zeb

Thanks Brendan! Ah it’s such a great bike alright, especially with a bit more travel, for me anyway cause it’s more forgiving when I get it wrong! 🤣

I did the same with mine, 160 back/180 front. Two offset bushings are required though
Ah nice one! 🙌
Those trails though - YIKES 😱
I know it’s a tough track! It’s on my list to try get down it. Only hit three features so far so it’ll be a while! 🤣
Was just wondering if it was possible to mullet the bike with the stick setup cheers.
Yes it is possible thou I don’t know how the bike would perform with the new geometry…
Can you please tell me where i can get the rear mudguard Stephen has on his Rise, I would love to get one for my Rise also. Great video also....
Thanks a mill for watching! Stephen said he’ll reply with the mud guard info. 🙌
Hey Paul, it's actually just a regular front mudguard that I've got on the back.
It’ll be a long time before my Rise travels trails like in the above ! Baby steps 😅
🤣🤣 me too, definitely on my list to get down this track thou, it’ll take a while as I’ve only managed three of the features so far! 🤣
Great video.
Does he still run a 29er rear wheel? Thanks.
Yep he didn’t change it still a 29r! Thanks a mill for watching! 🙌
Did the rear shock upgrade to 160mm also work with the frame size S ? Do you know that?
Hi . any problems with the bike so far ?
No all is going brill with it!
Hi! I have a orbea rise m 10 i would like put angleset, can you tell me what model you install? Thanks a lot, and nice video! 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks a mill for watching! The website Stephen used for it was www.offsetbushings.com

🤣🤣 oh Stephen would have no problem lending me the bike but I need to work up the courage to hit all the features. I’ve only done three so far!!
@@CatMTBPilot In that case, maybe the Rallon is the preferred weapon of choice? I’ll stay tuned.
🙌🙌
they said "yeah" at least a million times
Yeah! 🤣
Why...🙈 Orbea Wild instead maybe..?..
Too heavy ;-) Definitely not similar to what an upped Rise feels like.
Olé....🚴🇪🇦🤘🏻
🙌😃
You've just voided warranty
We do actually say it may void the warranty in the video! Maybe you didn’t get that far! 🙌
Sell to me your bike (rallon size SM) I like it so much!
Ha ha!! Not for sale yet cause I love it toooooo much!! 🙌🙌
