@Abdul Aziz That is not correct. A lot of the drama in Speakers Corner is to do with a massive increase in people who lack knowledge talking online and offline now, and recent Fitan with women involving themselves with park personalities. This all created a lot of drama behind the scenes which spills over at the park

I really suggest it to you, brother Mohammed hijab. It is like how to bring your knowledge in to practice more than debate. Because high level of spirituality is attained by putting one's knowledge in to practice. It's actually quite endearing how in this day and age there are people like yourself who are concerned with more important matters than clothing. Calling people to Islam by simple dawah is a key thing.. but that doesn't affect people that have previous misconceptions towards our religion.
    We say :
    (لكل مقام مقال)
every situation has a way of talking.
If the person in front of you doesn't have knowledge about Islam.. Yes you invite him and preach him in a simple way.
But if he was full of misconceptions and false claims.. Then you have to debate him with wisdom.
Both types are teaching.. But it depends on the mind of whom is in front of you.

And even the viewers of the debates and arguments... I think lots of them watch these videos to wash the black points that have been drawn in there hearts from suspicions.. there is a huge war on our Deen.. not just a martial war but also a mental one.
And Muslims really need to reclean their beliefs from the misunderstandings..

Fantastic talk, amazing work by iERA and by Musa. Though, Musa I have to disagree with you about your views on Speaker's Corner. I've watched countless speaker's corner debates, mostly by Mohammed Hijab, and it's been highly educational. I've learned about so many different topics and I feel it's really helped me internalize his approach. I've sent many friends and family members various videos on different topics and it's been very beneficial for the religion alhamdulillah. I can obviously only speak for myself, but I feel like my life would not have been the same if it wasn't for the many hours (maybe days) I've watched Speaker's Corner debates.

I don't agree with the spirituality bit entirely, because I think it's hard to just go and be spiritual. I feel like the more you learn about Islam and the prophet, the spirituality comes naturally. That being said, of course spirituality is very important because it is how we connect with Allah, and being reminded is also nice, but I also feel spiritual when I learn more about Islam.

I really share the same thoughts as Br Mohamed Hijab about the point of speaker's corner.I think it is a benificial plateform for us as muslims too. I personally have learnt a lot from speaker's corner debates. we kind of rationalize our belief and found answers about a lot of questions especially with the atheism wave that is spreadin all over the muslim world. So, The debates give us answers about the 'shobohat' of the atheist and how to face it up.
One thing more to add; Speaker's corner is a good plateform that shouldn't be out of muslims and it is good for daawa even though the hate speach a stuff . but, i believe even though some people watch it for fun they and up learning a lot of things that will benefit there faith.

    Hey,
I think you guy's are doing a great job by getting out there on social media.
My humble opinion is that speakers corner has an important place on the dawah scene. If you brother's completely abandoned these corners and take things to academic levels only then you may be doing an injustice to people who can only engage on this level of.
We have to appreciate that people have a different level of understanding about things in life generally. Therefore do we not have a duty to continue trying to give dawah on a grassroots level brother Musa ? If we encourage brother's like Hijab away from these corners have you thought ahead to have someone in mind to replace that void that you are encouraging ?

WhiteGeared No, I stated a fact when I made the statement that Christianity comes out on top in terms of evidence and reliability and logic really in regards to salvation. I hope one day you come to the one true God Jesus Christ, because you will never be able to get into heaven otherwise. In Islam you have to try and get yourself into heaven with your deeds. How many good deeds have you done? Your sins will outweigh your deeds a hundredfold by the time you die. I hope you make the right decision before it’s too late my friend.

I agree with brother Musa. Speaker's Corner can give Muslims the wrong impression of da'wah. When they watch videos of Speaker's Corner, they might think, "Woah, I can't do da'wah unless I have so much knowledge of this, that and the other." But da'wah is much simpler than that. As long as you can talk about tawheed, concept of God, prophethood and the Qur'an's miracles, then you have enough knowledge to give da'wah. All of us should be able to give da'wah on this elementary level.
However, I am not saying anything against da'wah at Speaker's Corner. It's great that brothers with extensive knowledge are out there on the front lines in order to defend the religion. But I just don't want some Muslims to think that this is the only thing da'wah is about.

    • @WhiteGeared

Dawah with those basics is the bare minimum. Only a passionate soul attempts more avenues of knowledge to engage in a turbulent place like speakers corner.

Part of calling to Islam will involve debate, dialogue, and even perhaps monologue. Sometimes you'll find someone who will be an attentive listener who just wants to listen to what you have to say. Other times, you'll find someone who challenges you because they disagree with your conclusion. All that is part of da'wah and ALL that is how the prophets throughout time dealt with people. Even during the time of our prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
There were times people simply listened and their hearts melted to the truth. Then there were times, people contested the prophet and the sahabas. They exchanged debates in the form of poetry. All that was part of conveying to the message of Allah.
The last part of ayah 16:125 didn't come down separately. And Mohammad Hijab is correct about that. I would seek to verify again in the context Fakruddin Razi explained that aspect that da'wah & debating is separate. The reality that most of us da'ees face is that debate, as times falls under conveying the message.
If anyone has any experience giving da'wah, they would know that there would be times where you are explaining someone to someone who is attentively listening to you. He gets it. But while explaining, someone interjects and tries to undermine your explanation and your assessment of the reality. This undermining is something you have to clarify. If you don't clarify, you give rise to doubts about your explanation that the original person your were conveying your message to. So now, you have to deal with this outsider to quell these doubts he's raising. Therein forms a debate.
But you shouldn't get lost in the debate. Hence ayah 16:125 comes in and Allah tells you to debate with them in the manner which is best. So if you notice this person is insincere who interjected just to cause trouble and unnecessary doubt out of disingenuous reasons, then you expose that factor to the public and leave him/her be. You simply do not continue to debate him.
Unfortunately, it DOES happen alot. Especially if you are new to the dawah scene and you're pumped up with energy. You just want prove him/her wrong. That should never be the case. You have to draw a line and pull yourself back from going into the abyss of endless debate for the sake of debating. That's perhaps that Musa Adnan was alluding to and trying to explain.
However, as Mohammed Hijab explains, all the ayaat related to conveying has those elements.
Another aspect to da'wah is amr bil ma'roof and nihi anil munkar. Many da'ees quote 3:104 but only fulfill 1 of the three components in that ayah. That's another separate discussion though.

Ma Sha Allah great to see M Hijab and its nice to see a young brother get an opportunity but Musa does often come across as very young and sheltered. Maybe someone who is more mature (not necessarily older) and reflective would be a better host. After watching this interview and the 1 with M Belal its quite evident to see Musa out of his depth; being defensive, constantly re-enforcing his world view and relating everything back to himself. No shade, much love to the young brother; hope he can come back stronger & wiser.

Brothers, a point to ponder, with respect. 32 years ago I lost my Deen because my community became so wrapped up in the rules and so fanatical and all the beauty I had found in Islam I could no longer see. There was so much backbitting and discussions were based around how everything was Haram or Halal. For me, at 16 I was not strong enough to stay in that so I left my community and Islam. Alhumdulilah I have reverted again at 52 in this last week and now I live were there is not one muslim, and not one masjid.

I really enjoyed watching this interview mashallah. Just abit of advise for brother Musa with good intentions, seemed like u were criticising Brother Hijab when speaking about his approach when giving dawah at speakers corner. I accept its not nice when dawah becomes debate and leads to argument which can affect the Dawah. However have faith in people to make that judgement for themselves. For me, a Muslim girl who knew basic rules of Islam yet having no knowledge of why we do certain things I learned, educated deen through the passion of brothers like Mohammed Hijab, Ali dawah and yourself. Everyone's approach is different but trust me that is only conflict of personalities. Which is what makes us individuals. I make dua for u brothers. Please also make dua for me to follow the right path & bring me closer to Deen and more importantly to Allah SWT 🤲

It’s easy to preach from the comfort of a cosy studio. MH is doing a great job of informing a global audience on the Islamic history and rational arguments. The way he took the criticism was admirable and largely due to the respect he has for the presenter’s father. Classy and cool always, MH
