Hackett is one of my absolute favorite characters in the trilogy, and all the characters are good so making my "favorites" list is hard to do. His voice actor was unbelievable. For whatever reason I just loved the way he says "Hackett out."

Admiral Hackett Never before have so many come together--from all quarters of the galaxy. But never before have we faced an enemy such as this. The Reapers will show us no mercy. I've never played any Halo Game so i can't say anything about Halo but, the videos i saw on youtube makes me think, that both Mass Effect and Halo were perfect, both in their own way.
Agreed. There is no comparison there. They're both fantastic, story driven games that make you love the characters. But one is an RPG and the other an FPS. That's like comparing two differant positions in basketball.
I get the felling of a greater good something worth fighting for and even though hackets talk about the reapers was a little weak I enjoyed the line stand strong stand together correct me if I'm wrong on how it went this really got me hyped for the final battle the felling of we are a united galaxy and we bout fuck yo reaper asses up! But jokes aside I personally would have liked a refusal ending where if you would have spent enough time getting forces together you beat the reapers with the Galaxy and not the catalyst IMOR I think that would have been cool what does anyone else think?
"This war has brought us pain and suffering and loss.... but it also brought us together... as soldiers... allies.... friends... this bond that ties us is something the reapers will never understand... it's more powerful than any weapon, stronger than any ship, it can't be taken or destroyed.... The next few hours will decide the fate of everyone in galaxy. Every mother. Every son. Every unborn child, they're trusting you... depending on you to win them their future..." No pressure when you put it that way Shepard!
Only because The Reapers have PlotArmourium. Seriously once The Protheans developed Particle Beam Weapons that would of been a Tide Turner. A PBW would make the main gun on a Sovereign Class look like a popgun. When you accelerate something to 96% the Speed of Light (PBW are Relativistic weapons 96% and above), it has MORE power than a Anitmatter/Matter reaction
It should have been the Crucible released some kind of energy to weaken the Reaper, just like the Geth back on Rannock, then the Combined Fleet defeated them. I think that ending would be much better than these Catalyst's choices.
Halo is great and it has a good story. But it's a short game. You don't bond with the character as much in Halo as you do in ME. I have played ALL Halo games out so far and same goes for ME. In halo you bond with like 2 characters, Cortana and Chief. While in Mass Effect you bond with so many more. There is so much in Mass Effect. I love Halo but mostly for it's multiplayer but I love Mass Effect because of it's amazing story and characters.
Amen to that.I mean,Cerberus had good goals, but the way they wanted to achieve them was wrong. And the Illusive Man was one of the most awesome Mass Effect characters. That's why i liked about the enemies in ME.They all had substance and they all had something that drived them to do those things, which they thought were good, but in the end they ended up being indoctrinated..Look at Saren.

Seriously WHY!? ITS BEEN 3 YEARS AND IM STILL MAD ABOUT THIS.
+SnWFuckUTube "You just wanted a happy ending" is just a bullshit strawman. People aren't bitching because Shepard died; they're bitching because the ending was quite literally a deus ex machina with no foreshadowing at all, it robbed the player of any agency whatsoever, and it invalidated the entire premise of the Mass Effect series: that your choices matter. The ending was as jarring as if, at the end of Return of the King, the hobbits finally make it to Mount Doom only for Slim Pickens to sail in riding his bomb, Sauron and Mount Doom get nuked, and Randy Savage jumps onto the screen, yells his trademark "OHHH YEAAAAAH", and the the credits roll.
Taliesyn42 Exactly.... the ending was just something wrapped up quickly. The citadel was wrapped up quickly building models from the ME2 dlc:shadowbroker map. And they just added things that dont make sense like shepard surviving the beam that incirates everyone else instantly out of existance. Shepards armor changing back to default because hastened making introducing a hologram kid right at the end because of the plot (deus ex machina). and making fighting cerberus completely pointless because hey control is possible....and suddenly the paragon option most of the game ''destroy the reapers'' suddenly becomes the worst option but atleast shepard survives...buth geth and EDI dies.(I have all the games and thus managed to forge peace between quarians and geth). Its like the storywriter had a complete brainfart at the end. ANd thats because the writer changed......the guy who wrote the story up to the beam left and they just filled it in with another one. The ending haunts me almost even after 4 years......
^NutcasE^ My understanding from talking to people who worked there was that one of the project leaders - I forget if it was the producer or the lead writer - wrote the ending completely on his own and the rest of the writing staff wasn't allowed any input whatsoever. Basically, he wrote his dream fanfic and had the clout to force it in as the ending on what was otherwise a spectacular story.
As a Halo Fan...I sorta have to agree with you. I do admire how Mass Effect made EVERY character likeable, and every charcter is redeemable and good in their own way. Halo, on the other hand, took the easy route and made us dislike the bad guys, no matter how cheaply they had to do it. Take the Brutes, for example... Brutes were bad because they ate people, smelled bad, and were meanie heads who kicked smaller people around. Like...how cheap can you get? At least with Cerberus, they WERE bad!
Do not admire yourself in pointless revolt. Do not sacrifice everything for the sake of petty freedoms. The Protheans tried to fight, and they where utterly destroyed. Trillions dead, but what if they had bowed before there invaders? Would the Protheans still exist? Is submission not preferable to extinction?
What if we might of bow to the reapers would they show the same respect to which sovereign showed you. No sovereign used you. If we bowed down to the reapers the war is already lost the harvest will continue no matter what. ~the cycle can not be broken -sovereign, harbinger, unknown reaper, starchild
I'm a bit confused, is the second part some cut-content music? Also, why is the normal soundtrack of Stand Strong,... different from the one in game?:S
Well my heads actually in a cloud. Speaking of heads, i have part of your right mandible and your brains here would you like those back? It could help you see why the freedoms of peoples is important and why those peoples fight for it.
Greatest of the greats these games. I love them so much. I cant believe they messed up Andromeda which had is all going for it just lacking the story:( bring it back you can repair the damage the fans wont say no. I also would kill for a proper proper remaster for ps5 ill pay full price again for each of them :)
Yo,i never said Halo was a bad game.Don't get angry now.But by your own statement,Mass Effect is a better story. In terms of gameplay, you can't compare them because they're different genres. But in terms of universe, story and characters you can.And in my opinion, both universes are awesome and in terms of story and characters Mass Effect is better. So in conclusion Mass Effect is the greater sci-fi game. With Halo taking second place.Being on second place at sci fi THIS DECADE isn't bad at all.
A little weak? A LITTLE WEAK!? IT WAS DOWNRIGHT PATHETIC! It felt like the writer of that speech tried way too hard to avoid any sort of cliches and was more concerned with just getting it over with ASAP, rather than making it a grandiose, uplifting and inspiring speech. And why oh WHY is it NOT Shepard giving the speech? Maybe they could've made the speech into a choice-event, where you could chooce to talk in an uplifting, serious, or maybe even comedic way? Since you could do that to your own team, WHY NOT TO THE FLEET!? I just don't get it! Noooo, fuck that. Oh and hey, let's fuck up the ending too!
RuSosan It would have ben even better if you also saw all the teammates and other friends (Aria, Kirrahe, Wrex) listen to Shepard making a badass speech like in ME1 where you see your teammates listen to shepard's speech. THAT would be absolutely BADASS
RuSosan I was just really disappointed by the speech. The only thing that kept it from being a straight insult was the incredible voice acting by Lance Henriksen. Still, it could have been the ultimate and deeply satisfying "FUCK YEAH!!!" moment. Oh well.. life goes on
They were bad as an organisation - but had a commendable goal, so they ended up entrapping good people, like Jacob. Then they ended up kidnapping and brainwashing civilians x.X I've played both. I prefer Mass Effect, definitely. I do think, however, that we shouldn't forget that Mass Effect is in part a tribute to the space opera genre. So Halo may not be as good, but there may not have BEEN a Mass Effect without its influence on the genre and on shooter gameplay mechanics.
"no matter what else happens today, you did what no one else could, you united a galaxy. that's a victory right there."

We're going to bring down a hell upon the reapers.....the likes of which they've never seen!
? i was just trying to say its way too epic for just 3 minutes and 40 seconds....
What if we might of bow to the reapers would they show the same respect to which sovereign showed you. No sovereign used you. If we bowed down to the reapers the war is already lost the harvest will continue no matter what.
~the cycle can not be broken -sovereign, harbinger, unknown reaper, starchild
It would be possible if our own people wasn't busy fighting beetween them for crap.
It's like LotR of our era, I think. The story is so rich, complex and complete. But the ending! x.x
its to short :(
You couldn't have gotten it more wrong.
wouldn't it be our planetary anthem instead though?
Remind us this if Reapers come in the future.
I don't, since this track isn't in Halo 3's sound files. You may want to get a new copy of the game.
No it can be said for Halo. Majority of Halo fanboys also happen to be Mass Effect fanatics.
I'm a bit confused, is the second part some cut-content music?
Also, why is the normal soundtrack of Stand Strong,... different from the one in game?:S
Stand strong stand together,POTUOS out.
You know we won't, right?
Is this fan-mixed or a real extended version? If it's real, where can I get it?
Hackett out
sounds little bit like cod 3 just the theme
Well my heads actually in a cloud. Speaking of heads, i have part of your right mandible and your brains here would you like those back? It could help you see why the freedoms of peoples is important and why those peoples fight for it.
One is still what one is going to cease to be and already what one is going to become. One lives one's death, one dies one's life. HA HA HA.
And FYI I don't lose my right mandible.
I know the Illusive man disagrees with Shepard but they could at least lend a hand with the Reapers.
Bioware killed Shepard legacy
Greatest of the greats these games. I love them so much. I cant believe they messed up Andromeda which had is all going for it just lacking the story:( bring it back you can repair the damage the fans wont say no. I also would kill for a proper proper remaster for ps5 ill pay full price again for each of them :)
Dude imagine a MCC but for mass effect
Yo,i never said Halo was a bad game.Don't get angry now.But by your own statement,Mass Effect is a better story. In terms of gameplay, you can't compare them because they're different genres. But in terms of universe, story and characters you can.And in my opinion, both universes are awesome and in terms of story and characters Mass Effect is better. So in conclusion Mass Effect is the greater sci-fi game. With Halo taking second place.Being on second place at sci fi THIS DECADE isn't bad at all.
not greatest but perfect! there is no game who attach me to the characters game so much except this game
Honestly thought hackett's speech was a little weak.
*****
Agreed.
RuSosan I was just really disappointed by the speech. The only thing that kept it from being a straight insult was the incredible voice acting by Lance Henriksen. Still, it could have been the ultimate and deeply satisfying "FUCK YEAH!!!" moment. Oh well.. life goes on
***** Could have had Anna Fisher do it better. Something involving anal rape of the Reapers...
They were bad as an organisation - but had a commendable goal, so they ended up entrapping good people, like Jacob. Then they ended up kidnapping and brainwashing civilians x.X
I've played both.
Saw it. It wasn't your mandible, but you may have lost some of that jaw flap.
