This moment really hit you in the gut if your Shepard lost his parents when he was young. You really feel like Shepard looked at Anderson as a father figure all his life and to hear him call you son and that he's proud of you before dying is fucking heart wrenching.
Shepard: "Anderson?" The silence. The silence when he is asking for his mentor to speak to him again. Where he accepts that Anderson, with his dying breath, told Shepard that he was proud of him for all he had done. It's just so god damn heartbreaking.
Anderson was a great character and mentor figure. Remember playing through this like it was yesterday such an emotional trip. I still go through all of them like I do with the Lord of the Rings. One of the best series of all time is not the best for me.
been a year since you commented, but you are not wrong. my father has dementia so i never got to hear him say those words to me..honestly it hurts, maybe that is why this scene in ME3 kicked my ass.
You R Done I'm just throwing forth my opinion, no one needs to agree with me. But there is strong lore in Halo, of that there is no doubt. The earlier books (before Halo 4) that is, and the original trilogy. Don't get me wrong, Mass Effect is great too, but sometimes it tried too hard to make me feel a certain way, and if I didn't, it cheapened the experience. I might be a little biased though, mostly because I liked KOTOR better.
Good point, it's just I found that unless you were truly invested into the lore of halo, it doesn't show its true epic ness. And halos story is awesome. But mass effect ( 2 is the most awesome ) is epic no matter how much you pay attention. But halo is awesome. Mass effect more so 😜
I served with the UNSC, joined NOBLE team, Imperial army, Stormcloak army, Brotherhood of Steel, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, I've also fought side-by-side with the Legion, the Undead, Forsaken Ones, Night-elfs ect. Shitty life I have huh?
Well i think not!, i have a pretty big mouth. In Moscow some assholes startet trouble and the police beat them up for us. not that we needed them too, but they did anyway. Also who is killing innocent 3rd world children? OH NOT RUSSIA! like when you killed the farmers in afghanistan? You actually made a movie about it!. Please become civilized! Perhaps you need some schooling, about the time when Russia killed half of Ukraine through poverty and hunger! or the time you killed almost half of your own population through hunger because of your inefficient system of "controll".
Thats something people tell you usually before they die or up from the Heavens yet.. your own father can tell you this only to betray you and later save you from hell the most hellish demons. Life is.. very complex but an engine is more simple oh!.. iv got some calibrations to come back too!....
The soundtrack for Mass Effect is so fucking good. If they ever did turn the series into a movie I don't see any reason why they shouldn't use the soundtrack that's already in the game. It's already cinema quality.
They even have the *BONG* noise a lot of film soundtracks seem to incorporate now days although in Mass Effect it represents the reapers. But seriously the soundtrack is phenomenal.
emilieminh Yeah.. though they'd have to separate the movie into parts or they'd leave out so much story and it would be a disaster.. Like the last airbender movie. *shudders*
Each one of you listening to this right now are living your lives. Maybe not doing your best but living with whatever is relative to you. You wake each day and battle the demons inside and in the world. You get a fresh chance every day to begin doing something that will make everyone proud. And if you're here....then you know what it takes. For that I am proud of you all. Never give up.
Admiral Anderson was like the father I never had in real life, he guided me in ME1, trusted me in ME2, and was the only one that was there with me facing death in the end of ME3 and I also felt closer to him after reading his journals in his apartment...when he said "I'm proud of you", I had to pause the game for a minute and just cried my eyes out, that's all anyone really wants from their parents...for them to be proud
I cried. i cried because i lost my father, he was a Paramedic who died of a heart attack because his job killed him. he would work constantly. the stress put him in a heart attack. i owe him way too much, and all i see in anderson every time is my father. Im going to make him proud by finishing what he started for him.
My dad died from COVID-19 at 75 years old on February 21 after 20 days intubated. I had played a lot of Mass Effect 3 on that time, so I searched for this song after watching Anderson's death. At morning on February 21, the doctors called my family to go to the hospital because it would probably be his last hours. After that call, i put on Anderson's death video just to soothe myself about that sad moment, hearing his "I'm proud of you", and this beautiful song. A few minutes later the doctors called again to say he had passed away. After we arrived at the hospital (something like two hours later because of it was in another town), we went to the ICU to see his body. As I caressed his forehead, this song came to my head. That entire morning i had "I'm Proud Of You" playing inside my head. Because of that, this song means literally life to me. Just like Anderson, it was years for my dad to finally sit down. Even on his age, he was on medical duty 90 hours a week, besides his psychiatric office. You were a very good doctor, professor and musician, dad. I will love you forever.
Sino Deutsch I cried like a little girl when Anderson died. Fuck you Mass Effect 3! and to my feels as well...FRAK YOU FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS! *so many onion ninjas*
gutspillage So Say We ALL! Roslin/Adama all the way...that ending...the scene in the Raptor I think is the only time I cried until I just couldn't anymore involving a character's death...until Anderson... *ME+BSG=MASSIVE FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS TROLLING*
Magnaxx34 Mass Effect taught me that your allies are the best thing in life, and that, do things and help them out, and always, the squad comes first. Sacrifice yourself for your friends.
Nothing beats the first time playing this series. The very first, no game guides, no advice from friends, playthrough where everything's new with us having no idea what will happen as we are left to make our own uninfluenced decisions. There was no such thing as a "bad" ending then. It had been more than just about the game no matter how it had ended. Cheers, Bioware. As they said, it's been one heck of a ride.
I got my girl Miranda killed because I broke up with her and she became unfocused/hurt. Beautiful moment, it was a tragic moment I had to own for my mistakes.
Our foe is invincible, But still, We Stand... Our foe is more numerous than the stars, But still, We stand... Our weapons run empty, But still, We stand... Our brothers fall in droves, But still, We stand... Our bodies breaks, But still, I stand... My Body fails, But still, My Spirit stands...
callofdutyfan1232 warhammer 40000 really gets one in the mood for dying pointlessly and that's when I wrote this. I wrote it as a piece of combat poetry written by an imperial guardsmen somewhere (probably about to die) but then I heard this music. so I altered it slightly to make it "fit" the story told here. That said something like this is pretty timeless so I'd feel rather remiss taking any real credit for it.
Thomas Duponti Quite the epic one from Ben Counter - We do not know what our chances of survival are, so we fight as if they were zero. We do not know what we are facing, so we fight as if it was the dark gods themselves. No one will remember us now and we may never be buried beneath Titan, so we will build our own memorial here. The Chapter might lose us and the Imperium might never know we existed, but the Enemy - the Enemy will know. The Enemy will remember. We will hurt it so badly that it will never forget us until the stars burn out. We cannot lose. We have already won.
I'm not one of those haters of ME3 ending. But it just hit me now, after the thousandth time I listened to this music, that the perfect ending would have been this. Ending the game with your last farewell to Anderson, while the crucible activates, and finally you have accomplished your task.
There was a fan ending where this is where they ended it, the crucible fired, killed the reapers and skipped out child and the bit about exploding the relays and they edited the plaque bit at the end with Andersons name. That's all it needed.
Jorge Abreu for me, that was so immersed in the game, it wasn't necessary that dlc. either choice, was perfect.. man, I got sad, like in a grieving for about a weak because it ended
Keith David MADE this role. He is an EXCELLENT actor and an even better voice actor (in my opinion). Anderson felt so alive and genuine throughout the entire trilogy and is definitely one of my favorite characters of all time.
When he said" Im proud of you" i cried. Thats stupid, no, thats awasome. Virtual character said he is proud of me and i was proud of myself. Shame i never heard it from my parents, those words said vritual character to me, not my parents. Sad? Yea.
I've played through every game in this series several times. And this part, the death of Captain Anderson, combined with this music puts a lump in my throat every time. Every time.
The war is over. The Reapers have been defeated. Against all odds, and in the face of the greatest threat this galaxy has ever known, we survived. We suffered many losses. The relays are severely damaged, but we won. This victory belongs to each of us... every man, woman, and child. Every civilization, on every world. Now, as we take our first steps toward restoring what we lost, we must remember what it took to win. This wasn't a victory by a single fleet, a single army, or even a single species. If this war has taught us anything, it is that we are at our strongest when we work together. And if we can put down our grievances long enough to stop something as powerful as the Reapers, imagine what we can achieve now that they are defeated. It will take time, but we can rebuild everything that was destroyed. Our homes, our worlds, our fleets and defenses. All of this - and more. Together, we can build a future greater than any one of us could imagine. A future paid for by the sacrifices of those who fought and died alongside us. A future that many will never see. And while we still have many challenges ahead of us... We can face them together. And we will honor those who died to give us that future. We knew this war would test us. We knew the chances of victory were slim at best. But we are victorious. The Reapers are defeated. We deployed every strategy, fought every battle, sent every soldier and hero to the brink. We held nothing back. Now, it's up to the survivors to rebuild, to start again. I only hope the lessons learned in this war don't die along with those of us who fought to win it. -Adm. Hackett
Whatever you thought of the ending, I hope you agree that they got this scene right. I found myself thinking of my long dead father, and also of my 5 year old son.
At this very scene, the whole trilogy flashed through my mind, all those hard choices, all those funny moments, and saddest moments... Doing every mission with Tali and Garrus... Romancing Tali... Realising that this series had done It, Bioware made the best Trilogy In existence. In that minute I rememebered why I played so many hours, so many days of the game. No game has ever made me cry, but this game? I was tearing up, choked up. I miss You anderson, I miss you Tali, I miss you Garrus, I miss you all... I'll see you in the next 3... (Me4, Me4, Me6)
this song always reminds me that we will never see shepard again...or anderson, liara, edi, joker, garrus, wrex, tali.... they are all gone. Im realy looking forward mass effect andromeda, but bioware already said this story will take place many years after shepard and the reaper invasion. aaaaaw. stop this song. shepard come back!!!! humanity will always need you and the normandy and the whole crew
You are all of them, you have them inside you, that's their legacy, nothing ever ends, you carry their teachings and their experiences, you carry their perseverance and their charisma. Nothing to worry about, we will meet new ones, and we will carry a new legacy :')
hector bazan No we wont see them because it is in a different galaxy and there is no way Liara, Edi, Grunt and Wrex could get there but it would be nice plus since they can die in game (aside from Liara) I doubt that would happen.
Glad to have been a part of Mass Effect's trilogy the entire way... Sad to see Anderson gone... But as a community it touched us all... WE ARE MASS EFFECT!!!
yeah the best it sucked so bad when it ended but it was a hell of a ride Characters like Anderson made it memorable you actually felt sad when he died not many games did that or even could
From now on, whenever I play Mass Effect 3 and when Anderson dies, I stop playing. I just shut down the game before space brat appears and consider this the end.
sebool112 I honestly didn't mind the sad ending (not the space magic BS), but the part with Shepard dying, the geth, and all other A.I. being destroyed. They all made the ultimate sacrifice to rid the galaxy of the Reapers. How does the saying go? If you can't sacrifice anything, you'll never change anything either.
Rage Pie I didn't mind if they've done something more intelligent than that stupid space brat whose logic is "superior to everyone else's and there's no time to explain it completely." Maybe I'd be pissed off if I had to sacrifice geth and others, still, but at least I wouldn't have to listen to space brat's bullshit. By the way what the fuck was Biowere thinking adding him in the last seconds of the game? He existence pointless and everyone would be better off without him. I bet it's because EA told them to make the game faster.
sebool112 That was probably one of many factors that contributed to the poor ending among other things. They shouldn't have made it so that there were vastly different endings. Just one well written this is how the story ends ending. Then from there the outcome was based on you EMS score. If you managed to gain enough fire power from across the galaxy; sword fleet beat the reapers against all the odds mass driver to mass driver, or if you didn't sword fleet lost and the game ended with this cycle failing, but leaving behind the information, like where you interrupt space kiddo, and plant a bullet through it's face. If they just focused it down to one basic ending, it would have been a lot better written.
Of all deaths in Mass Effect, I found this one the saddest. The music, the dialogue, just the fact that if he had held out a little longer he could have survived... Plus, Anderson was the only politian who stuck by your side and believed in you through the entire series.
From the start, you fought for those who abandoned humanity at every turn. Gave your mind to the warrior inside, bared the ultimate burden of being counted on to succeed in such a feet. Despite all you have been through, the death you've seen, the grief you've suffered from fallen friends and taken lovers. No matter the cost, you put every soul first. You may not be proud of some of the choices you made, but if there's an afterlife, I'm sure those who've fallen due to those choices are smiling with teary eyes and understanding. Despite overwhelming guilt, you made their deaths mean something and even if you've betrayed some to get here... Well, I know you would've avoided that, if there was another way. Shepard, those people loved you, they followed you to the death because they believed. they believed their death would give you reason to carry on, to fight for their memory, to honour them. They were the most loyal, and their loyalty was not the kind you command, but the kind you share. You're a damn hero shepard, I'm sure they all agree. You never gave up, Shepard. despite it all, you made us believe. You did good son, you did good and for it all... I'm proud of you, we all are. Keelah se'lai

While this was a nice moment, it's sad to think about what Mass Effect 3 could have been if it weren't rushed as badly as it was. Instead of a climatic and standard raising ending, we were given a quickly put together sequel that isn't suitable as a finale to one of the greatest sci-fi trilogies (game or otherwise) of all time. The endings they patched in were nicer than the god-awful original three choices, but I still can't say I can forgive EA for putting the pressure on Bioware to dumb down the game and get it out faster. Oh well.
I agree, one thing on the new ending though.. A picture montage? That's the ending you give your 5 year old fans, Bioware? A picture montage! Well f*ck them too then. We just gave them between $180 and $300 of our hard-earned money over the last 5 years on their series and they thank us with a crappy, second grade, middle-school grade slideshow ending, that is supposed to make up for the already horrible ending to begin with? That's weak, and a huge slap in the face for the fans of the series. Furthermore, the picture montage doesn't even tell us anything new. All it does is tell the things we already knew over the course of Mass Effect 3 that we did, in the form of a picture for each accomplishment. And it still ignores all the major plot holes while it somehow manages to create even more! I had such high hopes and really I hate to say this.. but one of the best RPG series in the history of gaming really goes down as the most anti-climactic ever created. :(
Not my Shep, she is flying all over the galaxy with Admiral Hackket to find the Normandy and spend the last remaining years of her life with Liara-chan
I am absolutely proud of all of David's accomplishments. His bravery and courage won't go forgotten, it will ring throughout the Galaxy for years. RIP Admiral Anderson, You're gone, but never forgotten 💜
Does anyone else have a lifelong connection the Mass Effect series? Mass Effect taught me that humanity is just another semi-intelligent species in this galaxy, and that there are likely dozens of other intelligent species in just this galaxy alone. I would usually never get video game tattoos, but Mass Effect and Halo are definitely exceptions.
Sorry for the late response. For Halo, I'm likely going to get the Mark of Shame, the Librarian symbol, the Reclaimer symbol and the Mantle of Responsibility symbol. As for Mass Effect, I'm thinking of getting the Normandy SR-2 somewhere and a mass relay.
i feel you im thinking of getting a specter symbol or the paragon and renegate symbols in one tattoo, mass effect is the only game series thats worth getting a tattoo for atleast for me
HOLY SHIT SAME HERE lol. I dont know but I just felt like Mass Effect really actually happened or could be a prophecy of some sort haha. Deeply impacted me so much I got a tattoo of the commander and normandy symbol.
I still come to these soundtracks and relive all of that like the first time just by listening of it, what an amazing trilogy this was. No matter what this game will always have a place in my heart. Wouldn't you just wish you could forget all of it just to experience it again?
So much. I don't even care that I would have my heart broken all over again. A wound that never fully heals. It's totally been worth it. Every moment of it.
I cry to all ME3 songs and it makes me so sad that such a perfect world full of amazing characters worlds, cities, stories etc could just end like it did. I felt a part of Shepards adventures. It honestly feels like I just lost a friend in a accident and now im mourning their death. Why EA? Why did you have to take that from me and every other fan of this series. This game was just as big or bigger than the Halo universe and it sucks how you rushed Bioware for a little more profit. EA if you ever read this you could of made more money from ME3 than you did. Like seriously you are a bunch of greedy a holes. And you actually lost money in rushing Bioware. Bioware as soon as you get the chance leave EA and go to another big company like Ubisoft just get out of EA. They do not deserve having you in their company.
Shepard is the person we all wish we had become. And even if it’s a fictional story, he is the selfless hero that we should all aspire to be become, as best we can in some way.
Gustav I I just finished playing through the Trilogy for the 5th time, all sorts of emotions well up from the assault on earth to after the three choices. I really wish they would remaster the Trilogy for Xbox1/PS4, I would gladly play full price to be able to play them with improved graphics. Without a doubt, these are the best games I have ever played. I just hope MEA lives up to the high standards set by the original trilogy.
They really dont need to remake them, Mass Effect 2 and 3 surprisingly hold up well even now. They are backwards compat for Xbox, but making them for PS4 players is a good idea though.
I am proud of them. I lived in Ukraine. I learned English thanks to them, and I am happy about it. I am an orphan, do not judge me. I had few mentors. And this story, these people are fictional people, brought me up and taught me the best!
It was fine for me too, after all the plotholes were patched up a bit. but i found it fine because it's how I always imagined my Shepard would go. I can imagine people getting mad for having that sort of ending forced on them in a game that has been a lot about choice in the past.
The problem with the ending is not the all the unsolved questions or the fact that shepard dies. No the problem is that the ending has a rly stupid explanation why the reapers atack everything. The ending talks about a problem that never appeared in the me universe and was disproved so many times in the game. (legion etc)
They fixed the every ending having the same animation with only with different colors issue in extended cut dlc. And showed what happens to our teammates and other civilizations.
One of the reasons why ME3's ending doesn't quite work is that this particular scene is so powerful, there really wasn't any need for what came next. It should have been Anderson and Shepard dying next to each other while they watch the galaxy being saved because of their efforts. No need for the most literal Deus Ex Machina in history to appear and give Shepard three disappointing choices.
Yeah. ME3 should have ended with Anderson's last words. It would have been perfect, or as perfect as a ending to a game can be. There would always be people who would complain about stuff, but the drama about the endings would have been miniscule. Instead, some dumb writer decided that players really needed to know their dumb origin story for the Reapers.
Shepard: "Anderson... no, no, no! Don't die! PLEASE, DON'T DIE! JUST HANG IN THERE!" Anderson: "Shepard... I... I'm sorry. I'm not going to make it... not this time. I'm so, so sorry..." Shepard: "No..." Anderson: "Don't cry... I need you to be strong... for your sake and everyone else's... you did all they asked of you and more. I'm proud of you..."
My shepard was earthborn, lost his parents and joined the navy. The closest figure he had as a father was Admiral Anderson. He was his Mentor, his Teacher, his Friend and his Father as well. I like to imagine a happy ending, I enjoy them because after a hell of an adventure where everything seemed lost. There's still hope for the future, like EVA said. Even in the darkest of places, there is still a flicker of hope, there's still a way out. I like to imagine Shepard and Liara (My LI) living peacefully after the war. No reapers, no war. Blue little children and a human baby child, adopted after the war. His name, David. And I imagine shepard, in a Navy cemetery, looking at Anderson's grave. Alone, in the middle of a green field with scattered families visiting the fallen. Liara standing not too far with the children. The words of Anderson still rang on his head. "You did good son, you did good. I'm...proud of you" And not realizing it, he said out loud. While placing a rose next to his grave "Thank you sir" Tears covering his eyes.
Shepard, promoted to commodore accompanied by his mother (Rear Admiral) and Fleet Adm Hackett.. doing the exact same. (my shep was spaceborn, war hero)
I am finally moving in the direction I want to move in... I am finally able to say, I enjoy life. For the first time in years, I am happy... For the first time ever, I am proud of myself. This music really manages to capture exactly how I feel at the moment.
Just finished the trilogy for the first time ever and I gotta say… I’m confused why I didn’t play it sooner. Such an amazing series of video games. Hopefully we’ll see more of the Normandy squad again one day.
In my story, male Shepard was best friends with Garrus who hooked up with Tali. In the final charge, both of them lost their lives. All three of them are up in that bar watching over the Normandy with Anderson, who in years finally got to sit down.
The media states that video games cause violence and yet here is a game franchise with a wonderful story, beautiful soundtrack, and amazing fan base. It's a shame that they will never see the truth.
this song was great... for what it was, and in the end, you cared about anderson. as a player...? I personally liked andersons character, it holds the virtues of most progressive and resolute individuals...mixed with the gamble that we all do...makes us...human...a final salute to a character...even if fictional...they touch us all, one way or another
"Shuttle's down that path! I'll hold them off!" "Had to take a stand, Shepard... You taught me that." "No... Not yet... Not ready..." "Guide this one, Kalahira... and he will be a companion to you as he was to me." "Tali'zorah... Does this unit... have... " "You did good, son... I'm... proud of you... "
I always loved the "I'm proud of you moment", especially if you were an Earth Born shep. I liked the idea of my earth born!Shep seeing a father-figure in Anderson.
He and Shepard are still in that bar, drinking and waiting for everyone else. Vita Aeternam, N7’s. To anyone who reads this, fight your demons. The rest of us have your backs. And when we finally meet in that bar, we will drink together. Much love, all of you.
Mass effect, will always have a special place in my heart. I spent overall 136 hours completing the series, backstorys and dlc included. I think what made this such a sad death, was because its the end. Yes, the mass effect series will live on, but. The shepherd series, with all its characters was what i loved about Mass effect. To see them all vanish. Is. Heart wrenching. Let the mass effect series continue, but Rest in peace the original trilogy. You are what mad Mass effect.
Of all the games I've played, the ME trilogy was a masterpiece. I finished it barely a month ago and I have never enjoyed something as much as I did with the games. For me, all the deaths through the way broke me, but those words 'I'm proud of you child' utterly destroyed me. I had to pause the game as I cried and I finished the game crying. I was so furious about the endings, but even with it, I still have to say ME3 was my favorite game of all. It was the one that made me feel the most, from fear, to anger, to frustration, to happiness, laughter, love. I hope in the future we can get another game (I don't count Andromeda in this) of this trilogy. Something to let us know what happened, how is everyone doing and what ending is the true canon one.

Shepard: "Anderson?"
The silence. The silence when he is asking for his mentor to speak to him again. Where he accepts that Anderson, with his dying breath, told Shepard that he was proud of him for all he had done. It's just so god damn heartbreaking.
Zaeed? Is that u?
Anderson was a great character and mentor figure. Remember playing through this like it was yesterday such an emotional trip. I still go through all of them like I do with the Lord of the Rings. One of the best series of all time is not the best for me.

In 40 and have never heard that either.
Thats something people tell you usually before they die or up from the Heavens yet.. your own father can tell you this only to betray you and later save you from hell the most hellish demons. Life is.. very complex but an engine is more simple oh!.. iv got some calibrations to come back too!....
@Garrus_Vakarian_N7 and you literally have none of the answers and talk from your butthole
The soundtrack for Mass Effect is so fucking good. If they ever did turn the series into a movie I don't see any reason why they shouldn't use the soundtrack that's already in the game. It's already cinema quality.
Agreed. It'd also be one hell of a movie. *__*
*shudders*
snowleopard01 Agreed, and with more movies, we'd have more to look forward to. :-)
emilieminh Yeah, it would be great ^_^ (Unrelated; the latest video on your channel is really nice to listen to! :D)

+Kaiser AGAIN??????

When your dad dies, but its a mass effect 3 reference so its ok.

For me, Anderson's death was one of the saddest moments I've experienced in gaming. Also Mordin's.
and kaidan in ME 1, even if we dont see
him die, i was pretty sad after he said " we both know that's not gonna happen"
Magnaxx34 Mass Effect taught me that your allies are the best thing in life, and that, do things and help them out, and always, the squad comes first. Sacrifice yourself for your friends.
ME3 had a lot of emotional gut punches. Anderson, Mordin, Legion...
Anderson, Mordin, Legion, and when I thought Grunt died....I had a few tears each time.
Don't forget about Thane!
+IronRAVENxvx yea i agree with you playing it for the first time man ME 3 hit feels hard several times and it still does when i play it.

callofdutyfan1232 warhammer 40000 really gets one in the mood for dying pointlessly and that's when I wrote this. I wrote it as a piece of combat poetry written by an imperial guardsmen somewhere (probably about to die) but then I heard this music. so I altered it slightly to make it "fit" the story told here. That said something like this is pretty timeless so I'd feel rather remiss taking any real credit for it.
Thomas Duponti Quite the epic one from Ben Counter -
We do not know what our chances of survival are, so we fight as if they were zero.
In the battle today, we will hold the line!

I'm not one of those haters of ME3 ending. But it just hit me now, after the thousandth time I listened to this music, that the perfect ending would have been this. Ending the game with your last farewell to Anderson, while the crucible activates, and finally you have accomplished your task.
I totally agree. But the extended cut at the very least brought some closure.
JohnP's happy ending mod has an option for that.
I've actually always thought so too, since the first day I finished the game.
Sad? Yea.
Cascco The power of video games is extraordinary sometimes !
shit I just realized my parents never said that to me either. :'(
I'm proud of you all!
I've played through every game in this series several times.
And this part, the death of Captain Anderson, combined with this music puts a lump in my throat every time.
Every time.
We had a good ride!

The worst bit is I got more out of Anderson than I ever did with either father or my stepfather. It genuinely felt like watching my dad die
You and I are on the same boat. This scene devastated me more than any other death scene in the series.

We might see Liara....cuz you know, she can live a whole 1k year. and as well as Grunt and Wrex cuz they can live a few centuries.
hector bazan No we wont see them because it is in a different galaxy and there is no way Liara, Edi, Grunt and Wrex could get there but it would be nice plus since they can die in game (aside from Liara) I doubt that would happen.
See them again soon friend.

@@bvishal2kn actually...red is the only ending where you are seen at the end starting to breath again.
From now on, whenever I play Mass Effect 3 and when Anderson dies, I stop playing. I just shut down the game before space brat appears and consider this the end.
Check out the latest updated version of the MEHEM!
llamaMonstA Thanks for the info, I heard about MEHEM, but I'm always not sure about mods to Mass Effect. I just don't think I want to mod this game...
sebool112 I honestly didn't mind the sad ending (not the space magic BS), but the part with Shepard dying, the geth, and all other A.I. being destroyed.
Also that it was Shepard who shot him.
If the Crucible had fired immediately after Anderson died, Mass Effect 3 would have been perfect. Instead they had to fuck it up with the Starchild.

After 8 years I find myself at this point in the game again. It was probably just as emotional as the first time around…
The three Mass Effect games each wore a solid piece of gold what it means for it to be a good game
People complaining about the ending yet I was perfectly fine with it.
It was fine for me too, after all the plotholes were patched up a bit. but i found it fine because it's how I always imagined my Shepard would go. I can imagine people getting mad for having that sort of ending forced on them in a game that has been a lot about choice in the past.
roxasthekeyoffate65 I was fine with the ending because it allowed me to speculate on what happened after those 3 endings.
The problem with the ending is not the all the unsolved questions or the fact that shepard dies.
No the problem is that the ending has a rly stupid explanation why the reapers atack everything.
The ending talks about a problem that never appeared in the me universe and was disproved so many times in the game. (legion etc)
That's the first I have heard of that complaint and how is it a stupid explanation?
JUST HANG IN THERE!"
Anderson: "Shepard... I... I'm sorry. I'm not going to make it... not this time. I'm so, so sorry..."
Shepard: "No..."
Anderson: "Don't cry... I need you to be strong... for your sake and everyone else's... you did all they asked of you and more. I'm proud of you..."
Hmm whats that in my throat... Oh right MY FEELS!
He wasn't a politician, he was a honorable soldier, father, friend. He was human. He had a soul.
While placing a rose next to his grave "Thank you sir" Tears covering his eyes.
i cant explain why i can see it with my eyes
Shepard, promoted to commodore accompanied by his mother (Rear Admiral)
and Fleet Adm Hackett.. doing the exact same.
(my shep was spaceborn, war hero)
I am finally moving in the direction I want to move in... I am finally able to say, I enjoy life. For the first time in years, I am happy... For the first time ever, I am proud of myself. This music really manages to capture exactly how I feel at the moment.
It’s a sad thing to remember, that part of the journey is the end.
Keith David and Martin Sheen, killed it ! Seth Green as well...
I'm not looking forward to playing this part again...
Just finished the trilogy for the first time ever and I gotta say… I’m confused why I didn’t play it sooner. Such an amazing series of video games. Hopefully we’ll see more of the Normandy squad again one day.
I'll always remember you space dad
I'm proud of you, son. The real version.
I vote Anderson as president and the pope!
In my story, male Shepard was best friends with Garrus who hooked up with Tali. In the final charge, both of them lost their lives. All three of them are up in that bar watching over the Normandy with Anderson, who in years finally got to sit down.
Damn these Onions...
The media states that video games cause violence and yet here is a game franchise with a wonderful story, beautiful soundtrack, and amazing fan base. It's a shame that they will never see the truth.
this song was great... for what it was, and in the end, you cared about anderson. as a player...? I personally liked andersons character, it holds the virtues of most progressive and resolute individuals...mixed with the gamble that we all do...makes us...human...a final salute to a character...even if fictional...they touch us all, one way or another
Second Beat starts at 36 seconds. 35sec - number of dislikes(15) = 3
Mass Effect 3 > Half life 3
"Shuttle's down that path! I'll hold them off!"
"Had to take a stand, Shepard... You taught me that."
"No... Not yet... Not ready..."
"Guide this one, Kalahira... and he will be a companion to you as he was to me."
"Tali'zorah... Does this unit... have... "
"You did good, son... I'm... proud of you... "
Don't cry....Stop it....Shit...Not even a minute in....
The chill up my spine when he says: I'm proud of you.
I always loved the "I'm proud of you moment", especially if you were an Earth Born shep. I liked the idea of my earth born!Shep seeing a father-figure in Anderson.
This has probably been said a thousand times but it bears repeating: They might as well have ended the series here.
I never cried so much for a videogame as in Mass Effects 3
He and Shepard are still in that bar, drinking and waiting for everyone else. Vita Aeternam, N7’s. To anyone who reads this, fight your demons. The rest of us have your backs. And when we finally meet in that bar, we will drink together. Much love, all of you.
Don´t cr *Sniff Sniff* Don´t fuc.... *Sniff Sniff* Not possible :c
I cry again in remastered Legendary tears T_T
`LOOKING ANDROMEDA`
son... im so dissapoint :(
If ME3 had to end, this would have been the perfect moment.
+LutzDerLurch Maybe if the Crucible just went off at this moment in the game and ONLY destroyed the Reapers or something
What do you mean. That’s exactly what happened. There is no star child. 👀
Only a few things can make me cry 100% of the time I see/hear/read them.
Those first few keys... as Shepherd looks at Anderson...
And... "i`m the very model of a salarian...."
